Hi Martha , Hi everyone , - took shower - now it's time to chill an groove to the great tunes ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Tome - I came in from bike ride and need a shower. Got caught up with Downtown Soulville, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm
Marcel M:

Boy do I ever need a shower..
  9:09pm
Martha:

Hi there - thanks for checking in -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...geez this is good...falling asleep much of late to FMU - which ends up being good for cultural awareness but dodgy for restfulness...& Thomas Storck after this is so superb...crap...
  9:29pm
Martha:

Thanks - and yes, I understand, Thomas does a great show - this stoner stuff is usually a bit too dreary for me but this track actually has some kick to it -
  9:32pm
r in va:

Yay Martha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- love StonerMetal - but like it when there's maybe more Psych & less repetitive Sludge (not that don't dig trancey Sludge...ah - you know what I mean)...
  9:37pm
Marcel M:

Much agreed Rev Rabbit and do know what you mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...simply - every Genre has by definition a Form that makes it that Genre
- but w/in that - a given Artist is more or less Formulaic, or Creative (or interesting for whatever reasons)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm
Marcel M:

@Rev Rabbit: I'm just finished Derek Bailey's book "Improvisation," and he discusses just that throughout it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- book - Cheers.
...That's when you get Eno to come in & pull out a card that doesn't make any sense : P ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm
Marcel M:

Hah! I just read that article in the New Yorker that discusses that about Eno, I've ben a big big fan of his for years OBV but had never heard that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm
Marcel M:

Did Paul McCartney sign to Captured Tracks?
  9:50pm
Martha:

Yes he did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
Marcel M:

Hahhaha. The singer sounds so much like him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm
Marcel M:

Oh OOPS. I guess that was the wrong song. I meant this one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm
Marcel M:

Oh... I guess my delay is HUGE right now, it was that song.... /sigh. I've had too many bourbons.
  9:54pm
Martha:

No such thing -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm
Marcel M:

Thanks Martha, I needed that :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm
Marcel M:

I've got to leave soon and I just may break in my WFMU flask
  10:02pm
Martha:

Glad to hear that it is being put to use...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Gosh...lots of new material tonight. The future looks bright.
  10:17pm
Martha:

Yes! - though certain amount of the "new" are re-issues - but I put them down as new b/c they are new releases - glad you are enjoying them -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:58pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

In the new bin, there should be a Jandek record/CD with "hahaha" written on it. Station Manager Ken is tracking to see what DJ will play it.
  11:01pm
Martha:

You know, I can't keep track of the Jandek records in the new bin - in fact, I may have some sort of learned response which renders them invisible to my eyes. Having said that, there are a few tracks from earlier releases which I quite like - but it takes a good deal of patience -
  11:04pm
a.:

really liking the new grave babies!
  11:06pm
Martha:

Yes - it is great - unfortunately kind of a pain to cue up - which I used as an excuse to play lots of it!
  11:08pm
coalhard:

all my fav indie bands are on fat possum records that is one smart rodent
  11:10pm
Martha:

True - and the way they have branched out from their more circumscribed beginnings has been impressive -
Avatar 11:15pm
David Shortell:

Possums are marsupials, coalhard!
  11:17pm
coalhard:

ok whatever planet they come from
  11:25pm
KP:

Hey Martha
  11:26pm
Martha:

I think S. America...unnecessary commentby me, of course
  11:26pm
Martha:

Hey KP - how are you doing?
  11:27pm
KP:

Good. I am still not used to this time slot for you
  11:28pm
KP:

Otherwise fine
  11:31pm
coalhard:

I think bryan ferry influenced many artists evidently case in point Zarthus
  11:33pm
Carmichael:

Martha, hey. Rare Friday eve listen for me. Bueno playlist.
  11:36pm
Martha:

Thanks! - yes, different time slot! - but better for me, not up so late - and that Zarthus track I played is unlike anything else on the lp - 1974 -
  11:37pm
coalhard:

Hey Martha i've noticed you often hang out in studio after show(love that) you are FANTASTIC!!!
  11:38pm
Martha:

Thanks! - course, if I could figure out the bloody train schedule (thanks PATH!) I might not be here for so long...
  11:46pm
coalhard:

I always catch the 4 o'clock coal train--myself
  11:48pm
KP:

I worked in JC a few months. The Path is indecipherable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

The train situation sounds like something just begging for an app. Your phone blinks green when a train is leaving the nearest station in 15 minutes. Let the computer in the clouds do the thinking.
  11:51pm
KP:

I liked it though. The Toonerville Trolley aspect, plus fact I had no understanding of it made it interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

...and the phone makes a toot-toot sound. "All aboard!"
  11:57pm
Martha:

It is a weird beast - I pretty much like it - real conductors! - but w/ it shut down here at the station area on w/ends it is pretty hard to figure out - they do have a decent tweet thingie to keep you up to date - that is, if you tweet - best to all and have a great week - thanks again for checking in!
