Ken From Hyde Park:

Gosh, I see Tommy Ramone has died at age 65. RIP. He was the last surviving member of the original quartet.

their collective epitaph should be "play fast, die young".

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...in a sense totally incongruous here - but I wouldn't be the 1st to call the Ramones a kind of Folk Music- in that it was music that evoked collective traditions (Garage, Bubblegum, 60s Top 40...) - & became Elemental for a whole subculture that it spoke for outside of mainstream markets...
- Morning DJ JD & all !

...Tommy Ramone on top of losing Charlie Haden - which covers a pretty wide breadth of beloved musical culture...

TDK60:

Didn't know about Charlie Haden. Last Ramone, wow. I still see Ramones T-shirts around.
Sharon Van Etten must be most played artist on WFMU now, along with new Swans.

- excited about Shirley Collins ! - as the impression painted by what little I know (in my ignorance) is she particularly represents the whole deep authentic Tradition of British Folk & is a notable expert authority of it - as well as great distinctive work & experience of her own...
