You're gonna have to do three piano trio shows to make it a piano trio trio!

Ah. Nice. Good evening Bethany.

Bethany Ryker:

A Trio of Trios! There is so much amazing repertoire, even that would still be a scratch on the surface!

Bethany Ryker:

If the audience hasn't tired of the format by the end of tonight's show, we'll see what next week brings :)

And for those who read music, lots of links tonight so you can follow along!

...interesting to me to see how - just like in Jazz (or anything) - the space gets shared w/ different numbers of musicians...

Any score readers out there? Just curious...

Not me! I'm ill-iterate when it comes to those ants on wires.

A reader here.

I can read a score. Playing a score is a different matter, very out of practice.

...years of sax lessons - but going home & playing guitar by ear instead - would mean pathetically little
...I wish the score cursored~scrolled on-screen as it went along; that might illustrate some things about the genius of the Composers & Players for me on some level
...ooh!: Shostakovich...

I would presume Maxim Shostakovich owns the copyrights of his father's music.

This Trio by Turina was my favorite find for this show - all new to me

In the last 15 years, I've mostly done aleatoric scores.

Bethany is slowing adapting an NPR voice (shhh!)

Not true!! Say it isn't so ;)

my teenage son opines: it sounds nice, too mellow for my taste. thinks i'm a nut to listen to this show every monday and send comments.

This is better than NPR.

TDK60:

The music, way better than the other mentioned bureau.

P-90:

"NPR voice"? I don't hear that myself, but what a thought! Is there a specialist that can test her for that and recommend treatment if necessary?
Avatar 8:49pm
northguineahills:

I'm just kidding, Bethany. B/tn the occasional hushed voice and the classical theme of late, it jumped into my head :p
Avatar 8:49pm
Bethany Ryker:

I promise to stutter and stammer more often :)

P-90:

Anyone remember the NPR sketch with Alec Baldwin from Saturday Night Live?
Avatar 8:51pm
Bethany Ryker:

I think it's difficult to say the phrase "Music of Beethoven" and have it not trigger NPR synapses...it runs deep!

Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...got 30 'Classical' streams bookmarked in iTunes ; some nice Early~Baroque&Bach - but nothing to satisfy like this
...I wish program Archives here could stream continuously - so you could, say, just keep listening to consecutive 'episodes' of Stochastic here, like it were a 'channel'...

Thanks, Bethany!

I recognize Lalo Schifrin from the theme from Mannix.
