Listener comments!

Avatar 3:10pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Kurt. My sentiments precisely. Nice one Minnesota Jeff. Pray now, all, here, the high temple of #radio.
Avatar 3:18pm 37:

i'm enjoying this but zoe and lucky have got to pee....
i bet this'll seem weird up on the comment board

wow.... this is great dr. chad stuff!!
Avatar 3:19pm 37:

ok.. cant leave now..... soon..... hold it girls and boys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Andrew Waterloo:

This is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Caryn:

Man, all this makes me think of is Police Squad and Monty Python.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm common:

kurt! hey everyone. mavis has joined the mascots!
Avatar 3:43pm ranjit:

this sounds a lot like the thing that was at the armory, but maybe everything Ryoji Ikeda does sounds like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm Carmichael:

Heya Kurtie Boy. Hi everyone. Happy Friday!
Avatar 3:52pm Kurt Gottschalk:

hi everyone! twitter tortune at 4. you can start tweeting to #radio to give adachi material.
Avatar 3:52pm Sem Chumbo:

Yes, yes, yes.
  3:54pm paula pc:

i'm extremely digging this. without the non-English accent, I'm not sure it would work
Avatar 3:55pm Kurt Gottschalk:

ha! more accents to come!
  4:03pm Listener Oscar:

I think that an interesting side effect to using such a simple dictionary word as #radio for the hashtag could be that spam bots jump onto it very quickly.
  4:12pm paula pc:

yes! accents make everything better!!! Kurt, I thought that BEFORE I saw your post above. this is so liberating -- thank you, Tomomi! it's not just the accent that is making this great, of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm I.K.E. (Ice King Enterprises):

  4:22pm P-90:

Ike: you beat me to it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm Caryn:

Marvin Gaye was definitely more revolutionary than I thought.
Avatar 4:22pm steve:

im sure its sexual healing to... someone out there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Ice King Enterprises:

@Steve: Obsessive Merzbow fetishists? No, wait, it'd need more static for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm Andrew Waterloo:

The question is, if you got that sound trying to play a Merzbow track, how long would it be before you noticed something was wrong?
  4:27pm joeZ:

Does anyone know if Wreckless Eric is actually playing live Sat. night? No one can figure out what "Featuring music from Wreckless Eric" really means...
Avatar 4:27pm Kurt Gottschalk:

he will be here live, yes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Carmichael:

Oh, I heard about this new release yesterday!
  4:29pm joeZ:

great! :)
  4:30pm Listener Oscar:

I recommend V/Vm's cover of Sexual Healing, called Sexual Rehealed. Slightly less loopy and oscillating than the mistake track Kurt's Spotify spat out, but no less irritating/lovely.
  4:31pm P-90:

Ahhh... Dusty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Caryn:

Who doesn't love Dusty... Lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Carmichael:

She does a couple of songs on a Carole King demo compilation. They're as amazing as this last song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Andrew Waterloo:

I seem to be getting the full gambit of vocal improv this year :)
Avatar 4:59pm Sem Chumbo:

Never too early for Noel,
Avatar 5:00pm Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 5:01pm Jeff:

What @Sem Chumbo said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm northguineahills:

Have I yet to comment? I should rectify that.
Avatar 5:20pm Kurt Gottschalk:

yeah, it's been awful quiet in here today...
Avatar 5:23pm Sem Chumbo:

The boards are quiet because who could compete with the vocal artistry we've been hearing? Not me, not even in black-out babble mode.
Or so I have not heard *l*
Avatar 5:25pm Kurt Gottschalk:

fair nuff that then
Avatar 5:26pm ironybread:

In the avant-garde hit parade, the last half hour has been all bullets!
Avatar 5:27pm Jeff:

Max Reger:

Ich sitze in dem kleinsten Zimmer in meinem Hause. Ich habe Ihre Kritik vor mir. Im nächsten Augenblick wird sie hinter mir sein!"

("I am sitting in the smallest room of my house. I have your review before me. In a moment it will be behind me!")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Caryn:

I'd write more on the board, but one of my hands has fallen asleep, and typing with one hand is a chore.
Avatar 5:27pm steve:

Tomomi was so good. i apparently saw him once in 2010, and was impressed but had no idea who he was, and instantly recognized his style like 5 seconds into his first set just now. aha moment. good stuff.
  5:28pm Listener Oscar:

"The avant-garde hit parade"

"This is Casey Kasem and you're listening to the sound art top 40."

If only.
Avatar 5:29pm 37:

i'm back////// OH NO!!!
Avatar 5:29pm 37:

i am sitting in this room...
Avatar 5:29pm Kurt Gottschalk:

oscar, oscar, oscar....
Avatar 5:33pm 37:

uncle uncle uncle
Avatar 5:33pm Kurt Gottschalk:

are you crying for mercy from lucier, 37?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm northguineahills:

A Lucier classic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Carmichael: ...been appreciating the Rutle series of Tars du Jour...
  5:36pm Listener Oscar:

I'm enjoying hearing this digitally cleaned up "Room" without the crackles I'm used to on the LP version.

I know that he wanted to smooth out his stutter, but I wonder if Lucier had already tried the process before pressing record or if this was take #1
Avatar 5:37pm 37:

yes.... boo hoo....
Avatar 5:38pm 37:

its not bad actually
liked it MUCH better this time for some reason
Avatar 5:38pm Sem Chumbo:

Now getting to that sound of a shortwave broadcast that is kinda, sorta, maybe like English, and you strain to make out the words, but f*c* it, not going to happen. Like the room tone in Limbo, preventing understanding what is going on. Or something.
  5:39pm Listener Oscar:

Yes, and the high pitched parts start to resemble morse code over a radio signal too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...if you play elektric gittar, & enjoy feedback - you get to know Room Dynamics quickly: a little tilt in direction here or there makes the difference between a lovely in-key howling sustain or a horrible hearing-damaging screech. That of course was late60s~early70s - now every schmuck w/ a computer is modeling Room Dynamics...
Avatar 5:42pm 37:

i feel far more comfortable now... thanks
Avatar 5:43pm cory:

Mr. Lucifer's song was wonderful to read about Thor and Beta Ray Bill too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...both he & the wannbe Hendrix gittarist are 'playing the room'
...am told the Jesus & Mary Chain did long sound checks marking feedback spots on the floors of every particular venue w/ tape...
- Thor's a Woman now ! : gotta be Noble to hold Mjolner, yerknow...
  5:45pm Listener Oscar:

Mr. Lucifer? Tape music is not satanism!
Avatar 5:46pm 37:

mmmm.... might be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...GeorgeCarlin: 'I'm not paranoid, but my Rice Crispies said Snap Crackle Fuck Him'...
Avatar 5:51pm cory:

well, I don't know him personally so calling him by "Alvin" seems wrong. not as wrong as what's going to happen to the chocolate cake in the kitchen.
Avatar 5:56pm Sem Chumbo:

Haven't missed a minute of the show, Kurt. Gob-smackin' good. See you again next time, and thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...for a moment reminded me of crescendo of 'Starship' by the MC5...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Caryn:

Coming up on Petula time, so just time to say: enjoyable Torturing Twitter show, Kurt! And good luck with the 7SD taping.
