	12:55am Wm.: HOORAY! The Shining is my least-favorite of the Kubrick heavily lauded films. Even as a teen, I had read the book first, and that sucked up the movie for me, made it seem really obvious & stupid. "Here's Johnny!" So lame. I much prefer A Clockwork Orange.

	1:00am Wm.: I like to let films wash over me, and not over-analyze, takes all the fun away. I never looked for or noticed all that crypto-symbolism in Kubrick; I just liked the immensely colorful sets, the acting and stories. I'm not a film-school beard-stroker, just an avid watcher of films.
	1:03am Wm.: At the same time, Kubrick is no Skolimowski; his human beings are nowhere near as human, I can see what you're saying. Kubrick is really focused on context and appearances, over meaty content.

	1:28am JakeGould: Okee, dokee… That is the most film talk… I am just into realism even in big-name pics… I mean “There Will Be Blood” has some Kubrick-like scenes, but that whole film is great. Can’t completely agree with Clockwork, but I respect.
	1:31am Wm.: See, I beg to differ there- cannot stomach Daniel Day-Lewis, never ever; no Unbearable Lightness, no Left Foot- the guy overacts in extremis, makes me cringe. Realism is very much in the eye of the viewer. DD Lewis is a ham sandwich to me, cannot watch the guy, he's too much of an AC-TOR.

	1:32am Mugsy: I just put the WFMU app on my phone and I'll be checking out some MCoQ archives. Thing kicks ass...it has all of the archives....right there....awesome.

	1:49am Wm.: Our juxtapositions can be arresting; it's not a perfect system, but I usually don't mind a palate cleanser, unless it's really a drastic shift.

Thursday nights played punk, hardcore, and I do not think there is anything in the music world that can approach the quantity of tunage available on the website. The FMA, never run out of material to listen to. Between FMU and spotify there is no need for my television. Ever.

Some freaky songs stuck in my head that I have no idea the title or artist but I know the words in the songs. WFMU introduced me to Black Flag, Exploited, Minor Threat...

That would be some crazy shit to have now, my personal collection being relatively small, and mostly limited to shows where I was in some way involved. ...

There are / were fanatical listeners like Barry Mann who captured all those classic idiosyncratic shows on normal-bias cassette. Shit's definitely out there.

Kubrick: I´m not a big fan of his, me too thinks its a cold, not much interesting world he portrays, but I do like Barry Lyndon, Clockwork AND Spartacus - I can even watch 2001 and The Killing is a great little film. Full Metal would be a fine war movie, but the second half is plain bad - it contradicts whats been said above about kubrick working CGI if he was alive, kubrick would never, believe me. So its a roller coaster with kubrick, cause his bad films are THAT bad and he always is the darling of the film journalists - I hate the shining too, its kinda like a Spielberg film. But we have to see what Kubrick did for film making, without Kubrick we would´t have Ridley Scott or Brian de Palma, who both are obviously influenced by him. The worst by Kubrick is when he'´s going EROTIC, Lolita is a mess and I don´t talk about his last film, and there his successor, de Palma fares much better.

	2:45am Mugsy: Frank Balesteri, aka The Vanilla Bean, was born February 2, 1960 and passed away on November 3rd, 2001. Frank was one of the greatest radio talents ever to grace WFMU's airwaves. His improvised comedy and spontaneous poetic rants delighted listeners and fellow DJs alike from 1981 to 1998. He will be missed but his inspiration will live on.
	2:49am Wm.: The Killing, yes! Isn't the guy who played Dr. Ben Casey on TV in that? Ronald Reagan and John Cassavettes? See, I think Lolita is perhaps accidentally great, for the performances of Shelley Winters, and Peter Sellers. I like Barry Lyndon, too. Sometimes what the actors did in Kubrick's films made them interesting and good. I personally never went searching for clues that he had faked the moon landing, etc. That's film school stuff. I never felt I needed a University professor to tell me what good art was. I go with my gut and it has served me well.
	2:50am Wm.: Frank B. was a friend of mine, and occasional collaborator. He was one of the most naturally funny people I've known, better than many a modern standup comic. He was always late!
	2:51am Schlockmaster: About the variety on WFMU: I´m a regular to 5 or 6 shows and I follow another 5 loosely. The shows I listen too are very diverse in content: I like Rap, Noise, Free Jazz, Black Metal, Techno ... what I don´t listen too anymore is punk or hardcore or pop music or anything, that I have heard a million times before - and that would be the only minus I can make out about WFMU: there´s a lot of old stuff being played on some shows, BUT that is my problem, because I already know the music - the younger listeners HAVE much to catch up, thats for sure. And I get enough great shows like this one, where a lot of very interesting new stuff is played. And there´s the archives, for the time, when I don´t like the live stream. WFMU is the best, really!

	2:57am Schlockmaster: Shelley Winters IS great, yeah, but you can see where Kubrick fails in contrast to the other outstanding director in his time: John Houston did the defining Sterling Hayden flip with asphalt jungle, and though The Killing is a good film, its like a fan-movie to asphalt jungle, one of the greatest late noir films ever!
	2:58am Schlockmaster: Kubrick ain´t a good black and white director, he needs color to push up his sets - all his b/w films fail, they have not the contrat, they seem flat to me.

I never felt I needed a University professor to tell me what good art was. I go with my gut and it has served me well.
	2:50am Wm.: Frank B. was a friend of mine, and occasional collaborator. He was one of the most naturally funny people I've known, better than many a modern standup comic. He was always late!
	2:51am Schlockmaster: About the variety on WFMU: I´m a regular to 5 or 6 shows and I follow another 5 loosely. The shows I listen too are very diverse in content: I like Rap, Noise, Free Jazz, Black Metal, Techno ... what I don´t listen too anymore is punk or hardcore or pop music or anything, that I have heard a million times before - and that would be the only minus I can make out about WFMU: there´s a lot of old stuff being played on some shows, BUT that is my problem, because I already know the music - the younger listeners HAVE much to catch up, thats for sure. And I get enough great shows like this one, where a lot of very interesting new stuff is played. And there´s the archives, for the time, when I don´t like the live stream. WFMU is the best, really!

	2:57am Schlockmaster: Shelley Winters IS great, yeah, but you can see where Kubrick fails in contrast to the other outstanding director in his time: John Houston did the defining Sterling Hayden flip with asphalt jungle, and though The Killing is a good film, its like a fan-movie to asphalt jungle, one of the greatest late noir films ever!
	2:58am Schlockmaster: Kubrick ain´t a good black and white director, he needs color to push up his sets - all his b/w films fail, they have not the contrat, they seem flat to me.
	3:02am Schlockmaster: THE KILLING (1964) is way too bright and Pop Arty for my taste - I prefer the 1946 classic with Burt and Ava! Have a nice week, Wm.!
