Just dandy, Scott. Good morning. Thanks for asking. And you?

Great, The Long Filthy Rally!

- 2. Going to need a long rally to keep me warm. Hi Sem and all other icicles.

Sem Chumbo:

Hey, CJ. Spring's coming:-)
  6:16am
Cooh John:

This is in the library of Congress, but not allowed on FCC airwaves....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17am
Sem Chumbo:

Take that, FCC!

mr Pontius P:

spring around

Gotta protect the plebes!

Cooh John:

Hey SC, it will take me all spring to thaw out. That is OK as long as I can listen to WFMU through the ice.

Funny how quickly the shock value wears off (sounding rather quaint now). No doubt Dr. Dre, NWA and Snoop Dogg's filthiest works will end up in the Library of Congress before the FCC allows them on the airwaves.

Should we be worried that you've been playing "The Murder Ballad" for your whole show? is there something you're trying to tell us?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55am
Scott McDowell:

Not really. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19am
Sem Chumbo:

That second set! Thx, Scott.

"Black Saint" is one of the masterpieces of 20th century music. It's been in my heavy rotation for the last year or so--I don't think two weeks go by without me listening to it--all of it, straight through. It's jaw-droopingly good. Plus it's the only album in history where the liner notes (part of them) are written by the artist's psychiatrist.

Good morning Scott and all

hi fred

the Canterbury wood-elf:

@Mark Mingus was "composer of the week" on BBC Radio 3 (the classical station) last year, first time I'd ever heard a jazz composer featured in that way, something of a breakthrough...
  7:46am
Mark:

Very cool Canterbury, and certainly well-deserved. I would say Duke would qualify, also. Without Duke, there'd be no Mingus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54am
the Canterbury wood-elf:

I'm sure Duke (and Basie) will be similarly honored in due course (if they haven't already). Don't listen to much R3 since getting hooked on WFMU...
  8:12am
Mark:

I know, I hardly ever listen to any other radio any more, either.
