Good evening/morning, Therese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Therese:

Heya, BGZ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Tome:

... does the Snoopy Dance to the Coffee Pot !! /\/\/\\\\\/\/\\ Ello Therese ! wonderful weekend it twas ! now wonderful tunes and show !
  12:04am JakeGould:

I have now been in two apartments with the up ladder to the roof. So I can appreciate the sentiments of the Supremes in this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Tome:

.... s***ing in the 70's ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Therese:

Hi Tome and JakeGould!
  12:06am JakeGould:

Whoa… “Emotional Rescue.” I had the urge to hear this a few days ago on the subway on my iPhone. And I did!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06am Tome:

... owned that one time ^^^^^..
Avatar 12:07am KP:

Good evening Therese
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Matt from Springfield:

RSD Haul? HI Therese and everyone!

Jake - livin' on the edge!...
  12:10am JakeGould:

@Matt: Yup. You know it.
  12:10am Steve-O:

Hi Therese! How's my favorite nighttime DJ doing? =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11am Tome:

... woo no L train from Lorimer in to Manhattan , late nights in the day of the LL train ,, don't think 1/10 of the "noise complaints" would have been made ...
  12:13am JakeGould:

@Tome: It’s not so bad. You can take the G train to Hoyt-Sasquatchamatterhorn in Brooklyn and then transfer to a real train at Atlantic Avenue.
  12:14am JakeGould:

Who am I kidding… The L train and G train are horrible…
Avatar 12:14am BadGuyZero:

A couple of hours ago, a friend and I were discussing how there were so few MUST HAVE things this Record Store Day. I picked up less than ten things yesterday. I was surprised that my local record store had copies of The Everymen's RSD 7-inch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

Ah, the Sasquatch District of Brooklyn. How's that neighborhood doing?
  12:17am JakeGould:

@Matt: Local to Brooklyn only, but the stop is Hoyt-Schermerhorn but nobody knows how to pronounce Schermerhorn so it gets changed to Schlermgerdhorne and such… At least by me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: I myself mostly stocked up on dollar records and used vinyl - I ended up picking 2 "Rough Guides" on Indian Psych and Bollywood Disco, but ended up not picking the Jaco Pastorius comp (no one had listened or was familiar with it) and I plan to iTunes Of Montreal rather than pay $$$ for the vinyl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: Makes sense. I think I'd go with "Hoyt-Schmear", like a bagel.

@BGZ: I did "need" "Born In The USA" for my collection, but found a perfectly good used copy for $6! Beats the $30 on the reissue!
Avatar 12:23am BadGuyZero:

@Matt: Well played!

I'm always suspicious of those $30+ reissues on 180-gram [or however heavy] vinyl. As far as I know they're using the same master that was used for the CDs. I'd rather seek out an old copy from the era when EVERYTHING was mastered for vinyl.
  12:24am JakeGould:

I’ll just listen to music on my Pono.
  12:25am rw:

Therese, you seem to be in a groovy mood this evening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks BGZ! And yeah, for the most part the real value is finding the vinyl master (and its mono version! and stereo! and US/UK/Europe/Japan variations! etc)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

Great H&O, Therese! Never heard this one but you can tell this is "She's Gone" era!
  12:29am JakeGould:

All I still know about vinyl is if you care about “heavy” vinyl you should always score Japanese releases. And color-tinted or picture discs are worst sound quality, but nice as novelties.
Avatar 12:32am BadGuyZero:

Steve Albini says that clear vinyl sounds the best.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am Matt from Springfield:

DJ Samantha? Happy Birthday!!
Avatar 12:33am BadGuyZero:

Is it one of the copies of "Abandoned Luncheonette" with Roy Ziegler on the cover?
  12:34am pp:

That's why the Luncheonette record was used for listens at stereophile stores in the 70's. Arif Mardin production with everything and the kitchen sink thrown in it.
  12:35am KP:

Instead of RSD I was pressed into Gallery Weekend walking. Less money
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Oh yeah - I believe he likes the cheesesteaks from that abandoned luncheonette on the cover. (Make sure they don't stab you first).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Matt from Springfield:

You Don't Like It, Get Yer Own Radio Show!, with Therese (Mondays Midnight - 3am (EDT))
  12:37am JakeGould:

Gallery Weekend? Where?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38am Matt from Springfield:

BuckNicks - amazing how solid their "solo" release still is today.
  12:39am JakeGould:

The album cover alone is worth the price of admission. riffraf.typepad.com...
  12:40am KP:

NYC, Jake. NYT had a big pullout guide. Walked 6.8 miles
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: Yowza is RIGHT!
  12:42am JakeGould:

@KP: Oh that guide. I do similar walks without the guide on Thursday and Friday night openings. Did you enjoy it?
  12:45am KP:

Was just listening to Kim Fowley interview ing ex-Byrd John York. York was on the first Sir Douglas Quintet album and they talked about that a bit
  12:52am MONEYBAG$:

I don't think I've heard this J Geils song since I brought the record in for show & tell in second grade
  12:54am JakeGould:

@MONEYBAG$: Cool! Did your second grade teacher take it from your hands and go, “Wow! That is soooooo interesting!” when you brought it out? How did you deal with “Centerfold” being on that album back then?
Avatar 12:54am BadGuyZero:

This J. Geils Band song was used in an episode of "Freaks & Geeks."
  12:55am KP:

Yes Jake but covering as much as we did meant less time actually looking. Best was an elaborate video called Liquidity in Soho
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am Tome:

Super Chief ... choooo chooo !!
  12:57am KP:

I brought my Happy Jack single to 7th grade music class and made up facts about it, a practice I have perfected
  12:59am JakeGould:

@KP: In 3rd grade I wrote a book report on Roberto Clemente by hand copying the text from the inner flaps and smoothing it a bit so it would end/begin right. Got a commendation card from the principal. LIFE!
  1:01am JakeGould:

Love the Wrestling Album! www.discogs.com...
Avatar 1:01am BadGuyZero:

My local record shop gave me a sheet of stickers featuring the wrestlers from the cover of "Beat The Champ" when I bought the record.
  1:03am MONEYBAG$:

@JakeGould: no, she didn't find it interesting. She was married to Miles Davis in the 70s and said Miles thought the J.Geils Band were a bunch of sad mother******s
  1:03am KP:

Jake, that sums up my educational experience. Rewrite, carefully.
Avatar 1:05am BadGuyZero:

I wonder if they'll ad "uh" to the end of words during that Fall special.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am Matt from Springfield:

LOL Moneybag$! Was this a real anecdote? I don't even care! :)
  1:06am MONEYBAG$:

you know what they say, print the legend
  1:07am JakeGould:

@KP: I also made money using the same technique to write a paper on the U.S. Constitution for a friend on the football team for $25 in high school. As an adult I can say that pretty much sums up how much most of the world works.
  1:08am JakeGould:

4:20 on 4/20 is in 3 hours and 13 minutes. If you are legit that is when you will smoke up.
  1:11am KP:

Twenty-five? I wrote a paper for a football player in college but only made $10.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am Matt from Springfield:

WTF !!! Weinerville?! I remember that!
  1:12am JakeGould:

@Matt: Stashu seems to be going into the world of interviews. For example, this week’s show she interviewed… Dr. Demento!
  1:13am JakeGould:

@KP: Hey, I got magic skills. I also did a poster for a friend for a “Don’t Drive Drunk” competition. He sketched it out and I actually made the poster. He gave me $50 for the effort and my poster I did myself won and I made $100 off of that. Ka-ching!
  1:13am MONEYBAG$:

I slept through the Dr Demento interview and woke up midway through the Tom Lehrer song, it felt like I was losing my mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am Matt from Springfield:

:) Moneybag$

@KP: Make sure you scale your costs, based on length and complexity. And still only copy the blurbs, since that's all The World seems to require.

@Jake: Dr. Demento! I need to listen to that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am Matt from Springfield:

@Therese: Oh, the "Hoyt-Skim Milk Horn" station, then.
  1:17am KP:

Jake, was never great at layout. Had ideas but the execution wasn't there. Too bad because it is more lucrative than writing/editing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am Therese:

Matt- Definitely listen to the Dr. Demento interview! Stashu was very pleased with it.
  1:18am KP:

Did I just hear William Corgan
  1:20am JakeGould:

@KP: Funny you say that. For various reasons I fell into the world of production design and then computer tech. So my professional history is heavy on tech experience, but I am flirting with the idea of pure design and even writing again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Matt from Springfield:

"Sit down, father, rest you..."

Well that says it all, Therese! I'll definitely check it out now!
  1:28am JakeGould:

@Therese: That interview was great and so casual. Looking forward to more interviews with magical-dorks, off-kilter-geniuses and lovable-weirdos at 3:00am.
Avatar 1:28am BadGuyZero:

You can never play too much Pulp.
  1:33am JakeGould:

Loving this Slits.
Avatar 1:38am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Happy Patriots Day!
Avatar 1:41am BEAVO:

New Wire album, hope there's a tour.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

Well, Leonard Cohen IS your man! So, +1 LC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am Matt from Springfield:

  2:13am rw:

Has anybody seen Magma on tour recently? I was going to go to the recent show in LA but my work schedule wouldn't allow for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Therese:

They just played at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC, I didn't make it out though.
  2:19am rw:

I wouldn't call myself the biggest fan in the world but I was kind of looking forward to seeing them.

Tim Foljahn sounds like M. Stipe.
  2:20am rw:

Oh, it WAS M. Stipe. Sorry 'bout that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar 2:23am BadGuyZero:

I've been to my local record store three times in the past week.
  2:23am JakeGould:

Everyday is like Sunday, Therese.
Avatar 2:24am BadGuyZero:

Every night is Saturday night. Every morning is Monday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am Ken From Hyde Park:

Everyday is Earth Day, as long as we're all living on this particular planet.
  2:26am JakeGould:

T.G.I.F.E.D. (Thank God It’s Friday Every Day)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26am Matt from Springfield:

AMEN Therese! Everyday is RSD! And Earth Day! And 4/20?
Meh - keep that stuff down to once a week, on your day off. Don't overdo it, people!!
  2:27am JakeGould:

4:20am on 4/20 happens in 2 hours and 23 minutes.
  2:30am Sean B.:

Pretty good show tonight! @Terese The new Wire album is great,as were the last two new ones before it [change becomes us & red barked tree] they just keep getting better. Speaking of Gang War=Now THERE'S a band that could have been one of the greats if they could have kept their shit together long enough to draw more than one breath. Happy spring all.
  2:30am rw:

I'm getting lost here.... what day is it?
Avatar 2:31am BadGuyZero:

I scored a Sparks with Jane Wiedlin 12-inch at Iris Records during my Jersey City bonus time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am Matt from Springfield:

This "Rush Hour" appears to be some sort of allegory!!
The Expressway is not the best way to your heart - it's much too CROWDED!!
  2:33am JakeGould:

All is quiet on New Year’s Day, which is every day.
  2:34am JakeGould:

For Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, “Training Day” is every day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am Matt from Springfield:

Got To Be Réal!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44am Matt from Springfield:

Hard Rickin' Ricky???
In any case, I loves that kind of NyooAwlins sound, thanks!

And YES - "Two-Thousand-Teens"!! Said all at once! :)
  2:46am KP:

Thanks Therese.
  2:53am rw:

Yes! Thank you! Groovy show!
Avatar 2:54am BadGuyZero:

Ok, you've convinced me. I need the TV Colours record in my life.
  2:56am Eleanor:

Play something mate
  2:56am Eleanor:

  2:58am Steve-O:

Well.....anyway, that was a wonderful show as usual, Therese. Thanks again. =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am Matt from Springfield:

Grooooovy (record and other media) show indeed!
Thanks Therese! Have a good night/day, everyone!
  2:58am Therese:

How's everyone doing ?
  2:59am Steve-O:

@Therese: Doing just fine here, Therese. And thanks again for a wonderful show tonight. =)

Maybe it's someone that shares your name.

Doing great, thanks. See you next week, unless I'm sleeping. Have a good week, imposters and listeners.
Avatar 3:00am BadGuyZero:

Thank you, REAL Therese! Have a great week. See you next time.
