Today is Earth Day. Is there three hours of recordings from the band Earth? Looks like there's the band that became Black Sabbath and also a group Earth from Washington state.

Morning, Lt Col Ken, Ken From HP, P-90!
The main GIF (woman and floating mushroom) is being displayed at the bottom of the page. Is that on purpose?
A dirt show would work. Earth, dirt, loam, marl, soil, clay, gumbo - lots of possibilities there.

ᒱ ᒱ (:
Funny you mentioned that, Ken. "Dirt" in Spanish means 'Tierra'. And 'Tierra', in turn, would be translated into English as 'Earth'.
Actually if you guys were to call Planet Earth the way we call it (Planet Dirt) I'd be able to tell you my favourite joke in Spanish, and then we would all laugh in global unison.
7:27am
P-90:
silt, mud, gravel, slag, grit, sand, scree
7:27am
P-90:
wait- "gumbo"?
7:29am
ᒱ ᒱ (:
Yes, 'gumbo'. As in soup or stew thickened with okra pods (aka okra). Right, Ken From HP?
7:36am
P-90:
"AKA Okra": good New Orleans covers band name?
"okra pods": is that from
"Invasion of the Bon Ton Roulet Snatchers"?

As a gift from me to you, people of the Earth, I'll translate into Spanish the funniest comments seen today in the playlist comment section. In other words, the most fortunate commenters would not only have his/her own comment immortalized in Spanish, but also would have his/her hilarity ability optimized for the emerging Spanish speaker audiences all over. And all that for free.
Thank you f0f0. Always appreciate SEO for non-merkins. Im having trouble finding covers of the Stooges' Dirt. I got a few but Dirt sure is no Bohemian Rhapsody!
Greetings humans. Sexy firemen are all up in my bldg. I think a neighbor burned an awfully big piece of toast.

I missed last week show but thank goodness for the archives! I was surprised to see Ake Sandin in the playlists because I'm currently having a dilemma. If you are a fan of Ake you'll know there's not a lot of information about him over the web. Good news is that I have a brand new flatmate from Sweden that I want her to help me to translate lyrics and research about him. Bad news is that's she's has serious schizophrenic problems and I don't want to mess with her mind playing her Ake (probably a schizo himself). Do you think it would be a good idea to help me out?
I remember a few yrs. ago on the night of July 3 me & the kids on the corner watching a guy upstairs on the opposite corner having a lady shave his back.
@Common: I suspect its the latter. Its something I never thought about until a friend pointed it out to me. Now whenever I see new condo buildings I always notice hardly any have blinds and you can always see right in.
Im doing all cat gifs today for my Mom PMD sho asked me to, and also for my new cat Frisbee, who is no Doctor Bootygrabber but I love him anyway and he's a great mouser. A real killer.
Frisbee is named after Breezy Brisbane from The Little Rascals, who I thought all these years was actually named Frisbee. But it was just the bad audio on those 1930s Our Gang comedies.
Aw, last Friday marked one year since I lost my best cat pal ever. Just lately starting to think about another one. Remaining cat doesn't like competition though.
Well this is great because Lorette Velvette and Neneh Cherry are so damn great but there aint so many covers of this song. I cant even find Screechin Weasel's version.. anybody? Why doesnt Killdozer cover this? WTF?!
USED TO WATCH THESE DUDES IN EAST DETROIT AND FORDS FIELD AND THE GRANDE BALLROOM LATE 60'S when PUNK was INVENTED in Detroit......with The Frost, the Motor City Five .....when IGGY would be TOASTED and stage diving........long long ago......thanks for the memories.
Agreed, Ken. Just funny how anti climactic finally finding it was.
10:08am
P-90:
@Ken: That's a real synchronicity for me that you named him Frisbee, after Breezy ("learn that poem...") Brisbane, because yesterday afternoon, out of the blue, I started thinking about him for no reason, and thinking I'd like to see some of those older Our Gang two-reelers again...
The dog bears a striking resemblance to Jeffrey Tambour.

Jan:
Ken, you broke out of the cycle with Hey Ya, but leaving the DJ'ing to Siri does not bode well. I love ya man, but - Earth day! so far the show has been
aural pollution.
Jan, you're going public with your hate. what an odd troll-like thing to do. Would a friend of yours walk up to you at an opening and tell you in front of other friends that he detested one of your photos?
Well, they played live last January as you can testify in the awesome "From Russia With KHLAAAM!" zip box set file, I compiled during the last marathon (which reminds me I still have to pack it and ship it to cory!).

vanya moscow:
My girlfriend Zvuki Mu specialist is won't tell yet. You see, he's not saying words that help to define song titles. But I'm here! Excited as ever!
Your funny comment has been awarded a personalized Spanish translation:
" Quiero presionar la estrella "Vanya nos va a decir en cualquier momento..." del volumen "No es Cierto, Vanya? "
Enjoy your brand new Spanish fan base.
People: If you want your comment to be immortalized in a bespoke kind of Spanish way LOOSEN UP AND BE FUNNY!
I'm afraid you have already max out the number of awards you can get in a day.
Ken,
No problemo. SEO, by the way, would be translated as OMB (Optimizacion del Motor de Busqueda). And I say that only to bring in traffic from the Spanish marketeer brigade.
oh by the way Ken !
I often ride my bike and ask Siri (while listening to the WFMU app)
"hey what's the name of that song" in french (of course),
and Siri always womes up with the weirdest pronunciation for WFMU bands being played.
10:54am
P-90:
Been a while since I heard a couple bars of Allman Brothers on this show...
10:54am
vanya moscow:
Спасибо Ник, спасибо Кен!

Jan:
Ken, I apologize in this public forum. I thought I was being jocular and did not mean to offend.
"Showing no mercy, he went straight for the jocular."

pierre!!
That reminds me of an old, obscure Ken's show where he plays French made radio jingles for the US market. Do you remember, Ken? It's french people pretending to sound american. As you can imagine, hilarity ensues.
Thanks Jan - and I apologize to have taken such offense - insults take on greater volume when delivered in text environments. f0f0 I think I may still have that CD.. or it may have been lost to hurricanes.
@Ken: “Would a friend of yours walk up to you at an opening and tell you in front of other friends that he detested one of your photos?” I usually just say “that’s interesting” or “that’s bold” or “that’s nice.” If you see me at an art opening and I do not say “that’s great/cool/beautiful” I probably don’t like the work and am staring at an accident in progress.
hahaha, wow, i'd love to hear that pour sur !
Is there an archive of that show ? Was it long ago ?

Fʭ Fʭ (:
Don't worry, Jan. I know your feeling. I've tried to be jocular in my time but I always end ejoculating prematurely.

And belatedly speaking of pronouncing Khlam you might use for a first consonant a nice harsh Hebrew "Kh" like in "lekhaim". Thank you for the moments of glory
Earth is primarily iron, oxygen, and silicon. Dirt's all, I dunno, like quartz and feldspar and hydrocarbons and stuff? So... I guess we should listen to a bunch of songs about rust?
someone needs to make a schlampeitziger & corn weenie mix

Porn weenie for the blind, maybe?
11:08am

vanya moscow,
Many thanks for helping us out on how to pronounce Khlam!
Someone that knows hebrew,
Could you care to please explain how to pronounce "lekhaim"?

Had o known today was the day I would have gotten up at the crack of dawn to be at work and watch it unfold. Ken you are a very good boy. Much like my Billy Boy, may he rest in peace. Actually I still have to put him in his resting place. He arrived via mail a couple of weeks ago and haven't been able to open the box yet.

I'm glad that we are all feeling more comfortable. And the Bodenstandig is music to my ears.

Good tuneage Ken - best from one of your chums from Brum
happy earth day to all. last saturday was record store day. isn't the earth kinda like one big round record? the different tracks would be the different countries. but climate change will make the tracks skip, either gradually or quickly. oh well, what can ya do?
Forgot to bring my headphones to work today. Not only did I miss some sort of rip-roarin' deutsch set, but there's someone cutting down trees right outside. Come on.
Getting to the G train in Brooklyn: If you live near the R train, take that to 9th Street, transfer for the G train and wait. If you live near E, M or 7 trains take that to Court Square in Queens and transfer for the G train.
According to German folks that laugh their asses off at their desks when hearing Ken's pronunciation of "Schlammpeitziger" I present you with this handy guide on how to pronounce it correctly:
Cool kids: What’s Khlam about again? I missed a few classes.

Mike East,
I heard we are holding the Annual Global WFMU Summit in your place this summer? I hope you don't mind me and my Europeans friends to crash in your well publicized home address in the followinfg weeks .
