Hey Martha! I'm not getting you show on my phone app. Sounds like ambient noise from the record fair maybe
  9:08pm
P-90:

Hi Martha. Yes, "Hardware Shopping" sounds almost like the record fair...!
  9:09pm
P-90:

...until all the heavy sanding started.
  9:09pm
Martha:

That is actually a track I am playing - recorded at a hardware store - will change up v. soon - should be getting the right some music now...
  9:10pm
Martha:

Yeah, well, have to make improvements sometimes - even when it isn't convenient -

...together w/ the GenKen it was a real head-scratcher !...
  9:16pm

I thought it would be kind of a neat segue -

I thought “The Lighthouse Keepers” were “Lush” for a second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm

'never heard of "lush" but if it's like that track i'm psyched to hear more.
  10:28pm
Martha:

Hmm - yes, I can see that - from early 80s - Australia -

i've worked the dollar table. 'pretty low key near the end of a sunday, but still fun.
  10:39pm
JakeGould:

@fleep: Did you take that? it’s like going to Forever 21, but without the clothes and women… But lots of guys are bins of records. Planning on going tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
coelacanth:

fleep my favorite part of that is the disembodied feet making their way through!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Hanging out in the backyard with daughter & her cousin. They're bouncing on the new trampoline. Then they knocked out one of the lenses of my glasses. Will have to see if that can be fixed tomorrow. Hoo boy.
  10:47pm
P-90:

@Ken: if they were bouncing and you weren't, how'd they knock out your lens? Did a kid bounce off the trampoline and into your face?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

We were throwing a Nerf football and I misjudged the ball.
Avatar 10:49pm
fleep:

@JakeGould It was a @WFMU tweet, for the far flung to enjoy. And near flung.
  10:51pm
P-90:

So if I see a dude at the Record Fair tomorrow with one lens missing, that's probably you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm
coelacanth:

Ken 'sorry to hear that.
-so,are you in the uk? all this time i thought you were my neighbor,a few towns and a river from me in ny.
  10:53pm
P-90:

I'll keep "one eye out" for you.
  10:56pm
JakeGould:

“So if I see a dude at the Record Fair tomorrow with one lens missing…” I bet there might be about 2-3 of those. So need to specify what kind of frames.
  10:57pm
Martha:

Glasses - I never have two pairs and really should so when things go bad I wind up walking around in my prescription sunglasses looking like a total asshole - only good thing about them is they are so old I think they're back in style again...
  10:58pm
P-90:

So you wear your sunglasses out at night like a celebrity? Cool!
  11:01pm
Martha:

No. Asshole.
  11:02pm
P-90:

You're soitenly a celebrity to us! Nyuk nyuk nyuk.
  11:02pm
Martha:

Not you - me - in sunglasses - at night -
Avatar 11:03pm
fleep:

The Venn diagram of celebrity and asshole has substantial overlap.
  11:03pm
JakeGould:

@Martha: I have two pairs of similar frames with the same prescription to avoid that. But prescription sunglasses might be a thing for me this summer. Will see.
  11:04pm
JakeGould:

@fleep: Venn diagrams often look like assholes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:05pm
coelacanth:

once took a day-hike & i only brought my rx shades. then heading home we stopped for dinner. it was new brunswick nj,so after that we decided to go to a club for a bit. some guy wanted to fight me because i was wearing shades at night.
  11:06pm
P-90:

I'm probably the only one old enough around here to remember the Corey Hart song...? Or the only one that wouldn't rather forget it!
  11:06pm
JakeGould:

“Yo, Corey Hart! Let’s do this!”
  11:09pm
P-90:

Jake! bless your AARP card-carrying soul. I'm not so alone after all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm
coelacanth:

hmm. i'm pretty ancient,but i don't remember corey hart.
...but maybe that's senility.
  11:12pm
P-90:

No, just Corey's eminent forgetability.
  11:12pm
Martha:

You should get a pair of RX sunglasses - their great - as long as you don't go to dodgy Jersey clubs I gather...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm
coelacanth:

ohh, "sunglasses at night"! a classic! (not)
  11:13pm
Martha:

I remember Corey Hart - just heard that song recently in fact - always makes it onto those 80s comps -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm
coelacanth:

i didn't hate that song.
  11:14pm
JakeGould:

@P-90: I think hip kids know who Corey Hart is. I mean, I met someone younger than me who was painfully trying o explain the cover to the “Morris Day and the Time” album and I just put a hand on their shoulder, and then pointed at my wrist looking cockheaded at them. We were soon friends!
  11:16pm
Shana:

Loving the Yellow Eyes...
  11:17pm
P-90:

Ithink Corey was one of those acts that benefitted from investing in a decent-looking video for that song, when MTV was still relatively new and STARVED for filler. Oops, I mean "programming." You could score a big hit you wouldn't otherwise would have from that.
  11:17pm
Martha:

Hey there - glad you enjoyed it! - two track one-sided release - You likely missed the Merzbow tho' -
  11:18pm
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: I was a mere lad of 15 when this song entered my head. www.youtube.com...
  11:18pm
Martha:

You know - that isn't a bad song at all - I'm not going to sit around and listen to it but it's pretty well-written and produced -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
coelacanth:

yes,P-90. i loathed emty-v for that. friends who formerly had decent taste in music were suddenly smitten with hollow crap because of dazzling videos.
Avatar 11:22pm
fleep:

To my understanding, it killed the radio star.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@coelacanth - I'm Hyde Park, NY, the development across from Vanderbilt's mansion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm
coelacanth:

fleep,i was hoping someone would say it!

Ken, that's what i'd assumed; but...they were trampolining in the dark?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm
coelacanth:

[i guess flood lights suffice for jumping around]

this Darkspace is heavy.
  11:31pm
Martha:

Awesome record - love this stuff - but will try not to spend the rest of the evening playing it -
  11:32pm
P-90:

No, "Sunglasses" is not a bad song at all, it's a nice example of mid-80's top forty synth-pop (complete with requisite Van Halen-tone guitar accents and the whole shebang.) I wasn't trashing the song, just noting that it got mega-exposure because he had a good video for MTV, and had a bigger hit than he would have without that advantage. And is still getting included in 80's compilations.
  11:32pm
Raskolnikov:

Two of my favorite bands are from Umea. This sounds like one of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Trampolining in the moonlight, yes. I just got it this week, so they're pretty excited about it. We had a fire pit going, too. A very fun evening, on the whole.
  11:34pm
JakeGould:

@P-90: I lived near the Brighton Beach/Coney Island boardwalk as a kid. My window faced the subway. Believe you me, of the song was a summer pop hit in the 1970s and 1980s, I would hear it day and night.
  11:41pm
JakeGould:

@Ken: Tramampoline? Tramapampoline? WOW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I determined that a rubber band around the frame will hold the lens in place for tonight. These glasses don't have frames that go all the way around the lenses. There's some kind of fishing line thingy that holds them in place.
  11:47pm
Martha:

Hi there Raskolnikov - thanks for checking in - they are actually Swiss, I believe - though not sure exactly where they are from -
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
coelacanth:

'sounds like a good night Ken. (except the glasses!)
..."tramapampolining"!(®JG)

Jake, yeah,i was just a bit older;but "sunglasses..." didn't stay in my head long. i was fairly dedicated to "punk" at the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - They had 15-foot trampomolines for sale at Kame-Apart this week for about $300.00. Hours of fun and the kids get exercise and sunshine (when it's daylight). We saw a pair of bats on Wednesday evening. Good to know that some of them survived the winter.
  11:53pm
JakeGould:

@coelacanth: I was very into Rush in my teens and generic rock and new wave like the Police and such. Being introduced to the Ramones and even the B-52s was a big deal. Music videos in their infancy actually exposed me to more genres than one would think. So can’t hate! Thank you U-68!
