My *favorite* show of the year! Yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm common:

Avatar 12:05pm V Priceless:

Heya DK! Dunaway's autobio drops in June - any chance of getting him on board for a Peer Pressure segment?
Avatar 12:08pm Claw!:

Did any of y'all get to see Testament or Ministry these past couple weeks?
  12:10pm KP:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm chris:

not I, Claw!, Ufomammut in another month, though. :D
  12:14pm ?:

Minsk had a blast playing Roadburn!
  12:15pm Walter / Roadburn:

Minsk loved the opening slot om the Thursday!
Avatar 12:15pm Cheri Pi:

Wooooooooohoooooo! My mom's little Jack Russell is named Minsk.
Avatar 12:16pm Claw!:

Ugh! I wish I could see Ufomammut, Chris! Enjoy it! I'd go if it didn't require the full cost of DeathFest tickets - I just moved, so I'm low on ca$h.
I only got to see Testament and Ministry because my shop promotes Fillmore shows and we get tickets comped.
Avatar 12:17pm Cheri Pi:

Claw Mr. CP stagehanded for Testament last week, he said it was a great show, I was too tired to go :/
Avatar 12:18pm Cheri Pi:

I get to see Ufomammut too in Atlanta!!!
Avatar 12:19pm Chris from DC:

Only going to manage the day of Deathfest with Ufomammut this year, but if you can only make one that'd be it. Oh and Yob.
Avatar 12:19pm Claw!:

Yeah, Cheri, it was killer! I missed Exodus, but I was there for Testament and they DELIVERED. My neck was sore for three days from all the headbanging I was doing. :)
Avatar 12:20pm Claw!:

I know, DC Chris! I woulda loved to see Yob, too. Bummer for me.
  12:20pm Joel K:

and now Floor?...good lord. tight playlist...
Avatar 12:21pm frobbert:

Roadburn was amazing. Again! \m/
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm coe:

'ello folks
Avatar 12:22pm Claw!:

Although if any of you crazy metalheads are gonna be in Bmore for DeathFest, I'd be down to attempt a listener meet up for some dranks! Woop!
Avatar 12:23pm Cheri Pi:

COE! C-Section in the house
  12:25pm Joel K:

speaking of MDF...there's a killer little noise/BM fest going on at machine with Magnets in Pawtucket with some killer rare appearances on tap..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm coe:

@claw I have to tell you after reading Al's book I really have no interest in bothering to go see them live. I'll stick to the recordings. I do have to say I'm bummed I did not catch Testament/Exodus as I still not seen Testement and they were one of my favorite of the Big 6 ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm coe:

Oh the dream to finally get to Roadburn at some point.
Avatar 12:26pm Chris from DC:

The Body, Full of Hell, and some others in DC the day after MDF, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm coe:

Hey Cheri *wave*
Avatar 12:28pm V Priceless:

three thumbs up for new self-titled rekkid from Brooklyn's own Kings Destroy (their 3rd), released this past Tuesday....just saying...
Avatar 12:29pm Claw!:

  12:30pm Walter / Roadburn:

Great to hear you both, Dianne and JJ.
  12:30pm Mark:

FMU-ers, if you're a real FMU freak (like moi), I suggest you make it out to the Montclair Film Festival on Sunday to see the fine doc about the station, "Sex and Broadcasting," which I saw last night. You just might wind up loving the station even more (if that's possible!)
Avatar 12:31pm Claw!:

@coe - Big 6? And which are those, pray tell?
Avatar 12:33pm Cheri Pi:

Big 4 plus Exodus and Testament! new Peer Pressure interview question, who from the Big 4 would you want to kick out and who would you replace them with?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm coe:

The usal Big 4 Slayer/Metallica/Anthrax/Megadeth and then include Testament and Exodus. I think for all of us that like Thrash the first time around those other two bands were just pretty damn close to being as big as the other 4 if not as big. In my opininon their lack of "mainstream" success tends to exclude them from the mix but for an old thrash head they are just as relevent.
  12:33pm Walter / Roadburn:

SubRosa was indeed one of THE HIGHLIGHTS of Roadburn - there was such a huge line of people trying to get in Het Patronaat.
Avatar 12:34pm Chris from DC:

Saw SubRosa a while back opening for Boris, really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm joe:

@Cheri No brainer Megadeth < Testament. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm coe:

Hey Walter thank you for jumping in.
  12:36pm Walter / Roadburn:

drummer and bassist of Motorspycho :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm coe:

and welcome to the C-Section.
Avatar 12:37pm Cheri Pi:

Megadeth < Nuclear Assault (bonus pts for Anthrax)
  12:37pm Walter / Roadburn:

The line for Spidergawd outside Het Patronaat was insane. The band took the festival by storm
Avatar 12:39pm Claw!:

Ah, yes, of course. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm coe:

Your right NA does get totally shafted so much as does Overkill. The eastcoast guys out side of Anthrax just don't seem to get their just.
  12:40pm r i s k y:

This spidergawd is like 'owww mama yeaaah!'
Avatar 12:40pm Cheri Pi:

Anthrax < Overkill!
Avatar 12:41pm Cheri Pi:

wait! no...
Avatar 12:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Who has carrot cake up in this here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm coe:

@Rev with or with out rasins?
Avatar 12:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Either will suffice!
Avatar 12:44pm Cheri Pi:

Carrot cake alert: The little shop I've been getting my carrot cake fix got dumped by the carrot-cake baker. No Carrotcake in the forseeable future.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm chris:

with or without XXX butter?
Avatar 12:44pm H3IL_S8N:

@rev I had carrot juice earlier :P
Avatar 12:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

even carrot cake with herpes is better than no carrot cake at all. maybe?
Avatar 12:45pm Cheri Pi:

Yes, then its a Carrot Cake reminder forever. I'm down with that sickness.
Avatar 12:46pm Cecile:

  12:46pm Walter / Roadburn:

Uzala captured many by suprise.
Avatar 12:48pm Cecile:

I'd replace Anthrax with Testament. I'm weird, but except for maybe some of the John Bush years, they never spoke to me.
Avatar 12:50pm Cecile:

Walter, who was the band you were most excited to see at Roadburn this year?
  12:51pm Walter / Roadburn:

Thank you for Solstafir, JJ & Diane - their Roadburn Friday performance was utterly breathtaking.
Avatar 12:51pm Cheri Pi:

That's weird, but I understand. I could still boot them but I feel cautious about it. If I hada few drinks in me though I would def replace Anthrax w/ Overkill
Avatar 12:51pm Chris from DC:

Cecile, agreed on Anthrax.
Avatar 12:53pm Cecile:

Scott Ian seems like the nicest guy, so I hate saying that. But never liked them that much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm chris:

Solstafir.... sooooo nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'm eating raw carrots for lunch right this minute. (Part of my lunch...I have other things, too.)
Avatar 12:54pm Cecile:

does Solstafir keep a hard edge mostly or do they dip into prog on other tracks.
  12:56pm Walter / Roadburn:

@Cecile Fields of the Nephilim were really special to me... Though Enslaved's set on Friday was stunning, too! The same goes for Skuggsjá. Plus, Goatwhore were simply killer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm coe:

I think we alwasy had a soft spot for Anthrax because of the whole NY thing along with the mega geekdom they potrayed. They played up their comicbook horror movie thing as well as their sense of humor more then the other 3 and that's what sucked us in. Plus we knew people who knew them so it made it a little more connectable for me and my friends.
Avatar 12:57pm Cecile:

Man, I keep missing Enslaved. What do Skuggsja sound like?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm chris:

I'd say its all edgy, but very ethereal, Cecile. Its the music of an early morning swim in a mountain lake.
  12:58pm Walter / Roadburn:

Talk abou thrash: Exodus' Bounded by Blood is a stone cold classic - the same goes for Testament's The Legacy.
Avatar 12:58pm Cecile:

chris, that sounds like a plus to me

that's cool, coe. I think if I came up seeing them, I'd feel that way, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd like to see the Married With Children episode where Anthrax came and wrecked the place. That seems like it was a gazillion years ago.
Avatar 12:59pm Cecile:

who made up "The Big Four" anyway? It's pretty limiting!
Avatar 12:59pm Cecile:

Ken, I remember that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm coe:

I think someone just dropped it in a pretty well publicized article and then they themselves ran with it.
Avatar 1:02pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 1:02pm Cecile:

yeah, rock critics can be pretty lazy. Speaking as a former one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm common:

ok. i've been out in the sun. back in and time for this now.
Avatar 1:04pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:04pm Cheri Pi:

hahahaha Anthrax on Married with Children youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Cecile, Cheri Pi - That could be part of a Monte Hall event: Rehashing old sit-coms where musical guests dropped in. Davy Jones visiting The Brady Bunch, for another example.
Avatar 1:05pm Cecile:

Avatar 1:08pm Cheri Pi:

Yes Ken! And Motorhead playing at the Young One's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm common:

i was just about to write that, cheri! and madness! was Fear on Quincy?
Avatar 1:09pm Cecile:

any number of musical guests on the Simpsons.
And the Doobie Brothers on What's Happening?
Avatar 1:09pm Jim Devoid:

Rerun just dropped his tape recorder...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm common:

yea cecile! great one!
  1:09pm Walter / Roadburn:

JJ, describing the build up on the Friday, gave me goosebumps - the flow on the main stuge, the performances, the vibe, it eas a huge landmark in the history of Roadburn!
Avatar 1:10pm Cheri Pi:

Fields of The Nephilim are hitting all the spots, very new wave which is a plus for me.
Avatar 1:11pm Cecile:

that's some good planning and curating to keep a mood going across 6 sets! Kudos to you, Walter and the Enslaved/Morduna guys
Avatar 1:11pm Cecile:

This song is less terrible than I remembered. It's actually OK.
  1:12pm Walter / Roadburn:

Skuggsjá took so many people by surprise - so incredible proud that we had them at Roadburn. I only saw Wardruna for about 10 minutes - for most People their show was almost a religious experience.
  1:13pm k beach:

Yo JJ i met you in Boston man! At that basement show w/ Sun Voyager
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm coe:

I love that episode when Rerun gets caught with the tape recorder under his coat.
Avatar 1:13pm Cecile:

that is so cool then it happened. Sorry, Wardruna.

Avatar 1:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HA, sphere, forgot about that: it was huge news at the time. The only reason to ever have seen the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm common:

do it, cheri! made me feel better. and, nice, sphere!
Avatar 1:29pm Cecile:

after roadburn, do you want to hear more heavy music, or just spend time with classical music or silence?
Avatar 1:30pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Speaking of power-watching tv series, finally thought to identify the source of BT's soundbite of choice (nice to see you've tidied up a bit...) -- so me & the netflix have to catch up on that. Could be a good one.
