Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Thanks for checking out this episode of The Dusty Show. It probably contained a little more "hockey talk" than many of you might have wanted. I didn't intend to do a hockey show. I just walked down to Madison Square Gardemn and it was happening, so I tried to tap into it. I've done it b4 and not that long ago, so the results were less than stellar in many of your eyes, I'm sure.

I've said this before, but, because I am working a day job, it's difficult to make the time for Dusty that I used to when I was unemployed. I used to spend all week on shows, painstakingly editing down 3-hours of interviews. I do miss that, actually, Now, my process is usually recording interviews on Monday night, editing on Tuesday night, throwing it together on Weds night, and playing it Thursday night, while trying to have a life. I'm not complaining, but I do miss the hyper-edited shows of the past.

I've also been downloading music for the show quite often, and usually the night before broadcast. This allows me to select almost any song I want and not have to dog through all my old records. Still, I notice I've been re-living my 90's rocker days a bit in my choices. I like them, but they may be too pedestrian for FMU, then again, it is free-form, so it should be OK.

Diminishing returns. Yes. They tell us not to pay too much attention to the AccuPlaylist. Still, I do sometimes check the comment count. It is almost always higher if I go "live." The pre-recorded shows attract less response and, I get it. I do. Politics and protests also tend to diminish audiences, and sports is pretty much an audience destroyer. So ... this weeks show had a pretty weak response.

I hope I am not too boring with my questions. They do get redundant, but they feel natural when I ask them. Perhaps I am getting old, as well, and lack a bit of vibrance. I need to do more interviews and filter them out, for only the best responses, but then again, time is ALWAYS an issue. SO, I must say THANK YOU for hanging in there and listening. I bore myslef sometimes. Maybe I phone it in to a degree, though it is ALWAYS important to me, and I suffer the shows which fall short of the mark. The good news is ... next week ... another chance to do something good. I hope you will keep tuning in. Write and give me your thoughts whenever you feel inclined. I can use the listener feedback, although, invariably you always tell me different things.

dusty@wfmu.org

Until next time, take care everyone. Much love to you. Always remember Jeff Buckley and BB King.

It's around playoff time that getting season tickets pays off. Usually tickets for a Stanley Cup Finals game will scalp for like 4 times the face amount.

I remember when the Devils clinched their first Cup in '95 - people were paying the same amount that all of my playoff tickets costs just get into that one game.
