I'll accept it. My b'day is at the end of March, though. Far, far away.
  10:11pm
cheri:

happy belated birthday, Carmichael from me also
  10:11pm
Carmichael:

The only reason I know at all about trees is thru Storm Thorgeson, who designed their album cover.
  10:12pm
bloopy:

hey mandl
  10:13pm

Avatar 10:15pm
Dave Mandl:

Happy birthday to everyone. I have trouble keeping track.
Avatar 10:15pm
Dave Mandl:

@Carmichael: Yeah, that's one of the best Hipgnosis covers. I played their other record, though. Terrible cover.
  10:17pm
Carmichael:

Ya can't judge an album by the cover, I suppose. Good music.

And thanks Cheri.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm
Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

This is good.
  10:29pm
cheri:

dave, i'm afraid I got to cut out now, I have to get up early, again it's great to have you back! see you next sunday night!
Avatar 10:31pm
Dave Mandl:

Night, cheri.
  10:32pm
JakeGould:

@DaveMandl: Some of Hipgnosis is great like the Pink Floyd stuff and like the Frampton album with water being splashed on his face. But the cover they did for AC/DC’s “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt” cheap and even “Led Zeppelin III” just don’t fit the band. In AC/DC’s case the original Australian artwork was like some junk out of a high school notebook… But their very design-ish take on the LP cover was just as bad in another direction if you ask me.
Avatar 10:37pm
Dave Mandl:

Blasphemy! Just kidding. Some of their covers are better than others, but the best of them are very very good.
  10:40pm
cheri:

dang it, I forgot to ask, guys how do you get an avatar?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Hullo! - been listening & looking up other stuff
...was it Trees up top sounded like Tull (I hadn't thot of Fairport), or the 1st one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...as Carmichael observed ✔...
  10:42pm
JakeGould:

@DaveMandl: Yeah, definitely. I mean they are artists. So taken out of the context of band promotions, they are creating great art. Even that AC/DC “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap” cover is aesthetically great! But coupled with AC/DC? It sours me a bit.
  10:42pm
Carmichael:

Create a free account, Cheri. At the very least, you avoid the math.
  10:43pm
JakeGould:

@cheri: You get an avatar if you sign up to get an official logged in account.
  10:44pm
Carmichael:

@revrab: I was commenting on the first tune, although Trees also fit the bill.
  10:45pm
cheri:

thanks guys, i'll try it, well night for real!
  10:46pm

@cheri: Looking forward to you logging in for real!

Hi Ike, RRN63.
Avatar 10:48pm
Dave Mandl:

@RRN63: You're probably thinking of the Trees cut. They can sound a lot like Fairport.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Cheers Carmichael...

It's interesting when Image & Band don't quite match up - a bit (but only) like Band & Producer not matching
...often reflect that when AC⚡DC 1st came out - they put them in the magazines w/ Punk - maybe it was the schoolboy uniform! - & if they're Metal, they're BluesMetal (toured w/ the Stones & all)
...Early records particularly such a great sound! - & presumably recorded reaal simple-like...& @ least one person who's seen a *few* shows here & there tells me they are chest-poundingly LOUD Live...
  10:53pm
JakeGould:

@RevolutionRabbitNov63: I think the issue with AC/DC being considered “punk” back in the day had more to do with the genre really not being solid back then.
  11:01pm
cheri:

thanks guys
  11:02pm
cheri:

i tried and failed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm
Ike & the Head of a Dead Ram:

I'm not sure that's possible. It couldn't be simpler. Click "register" at the top of the page. Follow the instructions. Where are you getting hung up? Go into detail for us, please, so we can understand the problem.
  11:19pm
JakeGould:

@cheri: “i tried and failed” Yes, we all know… But how is your account creation going? Need to see you with an avatar!

He's interesting, for a Republican ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm

...yeah - Alice's politics lean Right, but he seems such an otherwise intelligent & likable fellow - great w/ the reminiscences & insights about people & Rock...♒Aquarians, go figure...
