We can panic later - let's live now...

Hi Therese and folks!
  12:07am cheri:

thanks for helping me out , jake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am Matt from Springfield:

Funky, blaxploitation-like!

I Vote for Miles! For...Columbia's Legacy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

I wonder if Herbie Hancock is playing in here...he was really the link between jazz, funk and hip-hop over many years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am Santos L Halper:

Good call Matt! I had forgotten, was thinking just chick...
  12:22am JakeGould:

@Matt: Seems like Herbie Hancock was indeed on that “On the Corner” LP.
Avatar 12:22am BadGuyZero:

I looked it up. Herbie did play on that album as did Chick Corea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am coelacanth:

greetings Therese and people;others.
Avatar 12:24am BadGuyZero:

UPDATE: I found track-by-track credits that list Chick as the keyboardist on "Vote For Miles."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Matt from Springfield:

Success in the jazz performers guessing pasttime!
All those guys are great, seems to be a great album.
  12:26am JakeGould:

“Success in the jazz performers guessing pasttime!” Makes me wistful for Tower Records on Broadway in the Village. Now that jazz section had some staff with some serious knowledge to share.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Matt from Springfield:

My Swagmas was last Monday, still playin' through my stuff - I look forward to this!

@Therese: Cup of Ambition! Already have listened! :) Margie Joseph and Feist & the Constantines are particularly great! And GOLDIE HAWN! Who knew?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

@Jake: It's a big part of jazz culture, as Irwin's pointed out it seems wrong to play a jazz cut without listing the personnel. But it's a shame that Tower store went under with the rest of them. Helpful staff for jazz, classical or any other non-chart topping genre is invaluable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am Matt from Springfield:

"In 1972 Hawn recorded and released a solo country LP for Warner Brothers, titled Goldie. It was recorded with the help of Dolly Parton and Buck Owens. AllMusic gives the album a favorable review, calling it a "sweetly endearing country-tinged middle of the road pop record"."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Matt from Springfield:

Remember: heaviest swag packages take the longest to send out.

In fact I haven't gotten to Joe McG's current premium because I wanted to listen to 2011's "Heavy Breathers" from Prize Warehouse first!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35am Matt from Springfield:

"MACROmize your Macros! Excel!"
Avatar 12:36am BadGuyZero:

I should probably take an Excel class. I'm still using all the tricks/hacks I learned in the late 90s.
Avatar 12:37am egal:

I miss Lotus 1-2-3
12:37am Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

Pivot tables rock. Did they get to lookup tables too?
  12:37am JakeGould:

The first time I actually programmed anything was when I programmed macros for Word/Excel mail merges back in 1992.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am Matt from Springfield:

Nuts! Macro's are where the $$ at, if I learned a few tricks w/ that..

Oh good GLORD, BGZ!

@Therese: Or publishing as news, journalisticing.
  12:46am V Priceless:

Whoa ! Cool Ayers covet! Hey Therese and all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, this was a Kevin Ayers song? Not surprised, it has that "spacey" feel about it. Hey VP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Matt from Springfield:

Oh yeah, this is the song he wrote for his daughter - this version sounds totally different, but you can still feel Ayers' influence in it.
  12:47am V Priceless:

Hey Matt!
  12:49am JakeGould:

What about scrapbooking?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52am Matt from Springfield:

Too much an actual word, Jake.
Now - if you mean it as taking old books and "scrapping" them, I think that should be the new word!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Matt from Springfield:

Die Baronstein Bären.

Baron von Kissalot!
Avatar 1:03am BadGuyZero:

Chrysler LeBaron?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am Matt from Springfield:

"Kißalot" would also be acceptable.
  1:09am JakeGould:

Goths are silly!
Avatar 1:11am Joe B:

thanks for the plug Therese!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11am Matt from Springfield:

But, compared to what?
  1:12am JakeGould:

@Matt: You ever program? Tech terms and names are nuts. You know where the name of Hadoop came from? It's distributed system software. And the name came from the core developer's kid's favorite toy: A blue toy elephant the kid named... Hadoop. I can't make any of this up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am Matt from Springfield:

It's so true Jake. Tech, computer, engineering terms...I always want to know the backstory because it's often not readily apparent!
  1:17am JakeGould:

@Matt: I'm happy that I am far enough along in my tech career to say, "This stuff is interesting, but who named it?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am Therese:

No problem, Joe! I am psyched to hear their set!
Avatar 1:28am BadGuyZero:

Blackie Lawless has gone in a musical direction I would not have predicted.
Avatar 1:31am BadGuyZero:

Very appropriate song for 27 hours and 16 minutes ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am Matt from Springfield:

27:16, wasn't that the length of the full, uncut "Helter Skelter"? Maybe it was 27 hours, not minutes..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am Matt from Springfield:

27:11, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38am Matt from Springfield:

"Very Dionne is the fourteenth studio album by American singer singer Dionne Warwick, released in 1970 on the Scepter label."
"All songs written and composed by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, except where noted." This song is no exception, natch.
Avatar 1:41am BadGuyZero:

Maybe Dionne was gazing into a crystal ball and singing about AirBnB.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Matt from Springfield:

Oh yeah, hanging on to your luggage well after/before checking - I know that!
Avatar 1:44am BadGuyZero:

Lucy Lawless is from New Zealand. Maybe she's related to someone that's in the WASP from Australia.
Avatar 1:56am Joe B:

Let's hope Irma remembers her old records for her set at Ponderosa Stomp this year!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am Matt from Springfield:

Thinking about Therese, as she plays old records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, is she performing this year? That's great!
Avatar 2:01am Joe B:

Yup, headlining the 2nd night. I saw her 2 years ago at a free street fair thing and she sounds great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am Matt from Springfield:

Allen Toussaint, always a great composer of songs!

(Esp. those on *collections* - composition compilations!)
Avatar 2:08am BadGuyZero:

  2:27am xrayman:

thanx for the DEAD ⚡
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34am Matt from Springfield:

Julia Vorontsova, self-released it looks like?
Keep it up! This Julia V. is going places, I tells ya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am Matt from Springfield:

Good classic country sound/story.
Avatar 2:50am ! I X Key !:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Matt from Springfield:

"Oubliette", always brings that feeling of deja-vu...
Avatar 2:56am BadGuyZero:

I'm 99.9% certain that "oubliette" has been discussed between sets on a previous show.
  2:57am Steve-O:

Hi Therese! Great show today.....and have a great week as usual! =)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Hmmmm...couldn't recall which one that might be...

Thanks Therese! Have a good night and a good week everyone!
Avatar 2:58am BadGuyZero:

Have a great week everyone! See you back here next time.
Avatar 3:00am BadGuyZero:

@Matt: I did a playlist search. Therese played a track last October by a band called The Oubliettes. I'm pretty sure that's the previous discussion I'm thinking of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am Matt from Springfield:

Wow, and on another Therese show too! What're the odds?!
