[ The current Louvin Brothers may not necessarily reflect the views of your Honky Tonk Radio Girl ]

love this. i foresee doom if it happens. DOOM , i say!

JakeGould:

Well they are taking about taking the Bible out of “our schoolrooms” which means their schoolrooms which means… Whatever…
  8:12pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Children should absolutely be educated about the dangers of the Bible.

JakeGould:

There’s a Mosque right near the movie theater near me. To “make nice” with the Jewish and Christian community the sign talks about how Islam respects all religions…

Okay, I buy that nice bit of “we are all the same”-ness… But then on a hand written chalkboard they wrote, “LIFE IS A MOVIE • DO YOU KNOW HOW YOURS WILL END?” Nice way for kids to be scared shitless before watching the Peanuts movie.

Jake, I don't know if you're located near WFMU, but it's only a 20 minute drive away.

This song has that Johnny Cash "boom-chikka, boom-chikka"

JakeGould:

@Becky: I’m in Brooklyn; the non-hipster part of it. So New Brunswick might be just like where I am now but with Pork Rolls.

@BobDoesThings: I’m not in Park Slope. I’m in Bay Ridge. Unless I am missing the hipster reference?

Hackensack Slim:

Becky,
Cool show. I grew up not far from New Brunswick, NJ. I wasn't paying real close attention so I didn't hear the lyrics, but ya think maybe Versatile Scotty S, was singin about the Canadian province, as opposed to the city in Jersey. (What with the name of his band and all) A re-listen via the Archives is in order.

JakeGould:

“Now that I’ve got you, I’m not sure I want you… Because I act impulsively and then have second thoughts about life decisions when reality hits.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Becky:

@Slim, I was born in Jersey City and grew up in Metuchen. Judging by the lush landscape he described, I can say with confidence he was definitely talking Canada.

@jake - oh oops.. I guess I just assumed it cause one of your instagram posts were from that area. Never been to the bay ridge area though, nor am I one to comment.. I dunno. all good anyways.
  8:34pm
JakeGould:

@bobdoesthings: Yeah, I live in Bay Ridge but—no disrespect to the neighborhood—but there’s not much to do over here. So I go elsewhere to do things.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
Becky:

I said it once, but it bears repeating - if you're in the neighborhood, please stop by Monty Hall on Friday, 7 PM - 10:30 PM! Downtown Soulville live broadcast and dance party! Me and Gaylord Fields will help Mr. Fine Wine celebrate!

That Donna Fargo record was so much better than any of her big hits. She has a lovely voice.
