Shit! It just got upgraded to a hurricane. But it looks like it will make landfall south of the NYC area. Like the Carolinas maybe. Looking at YOU Asheville Jon.
Do you still have the FMU drone . It would make an auspicious hurricane reconnaissance craft. You could retrofit it with speakers ala the Apocolypse Now choppers and play Khlam
I forget which show it was (in the early morning NJ time) but a tsunami warning flashed up on your news feed or something. I managed to perpertrate a panic on facebook...
there used to be some lady in Portland who would call any late night KBOO DJ every time there was any kind of earthquake - however small- in the Pacific ocean and would insist they announce it and warn of a possible tsunami.
Once a P.S. 108 our teacher put on 'Chicken Fat" as a supposed exercise record, telling us to actually follow the instructions. I knew the tune & tried to tell her otherwise. To this day I don't know whether she was the victim of a joke, or making a deadpan joke herself.
Knew it was "Chicken Fat" from the first notes! When I was in elementary school I knew this by heart. Yeah, I think it was definitely used in lieu of the teacher actually giving us an exercise program.
My daughter had me order a new cell phone cover. Turns out the vendor was from Compton, CA. So we're joking that the cover is "Straight Outta Compton!"

The contractors are working on my roof. I trust you will provide enough irritainment to drown it out, Overlord Ken.
my mother was a music teacher for a long time and always said that germans invented rap.. apparently there was a popular form of music back in like.. im going to say the 1800s.. where they did spoken word/no instrumentals and would make songs with fast rhyme schemes.. I never heard any examples of this stuff.. and something tells me my mom doesn't really get it..
@egal - yeah I think my mom wanted to seem interesting at parties.. not so much that "germans invented rap" but that .. rhyming to a beat has been around for a long time.. more like it.
I am late again. Great giffery so far! And as for the music, I don't know: there are tons of new songs I haven't heard before! Can't wait to listen to the archives!
Oh, Ken! I always forget to ask you this: Did you know Leibach played in North Korea while you were away in your road trip through the USA?! I believe it was the first time a western band played over there. Good choice, mr Kim!
News headline: "Georgia woman sings 'Amazing Grace' as she's executed." Ewww. If someone recorded that, it'll probably get played somewhere at some point.
Very sad. Anyway, my favourite last words from someone executed in the death row are : "Expect tomorrow in the headlines: French Fries!" from a French man whose last name was Fries.

fבfב (:
I forgot to mention that the French man was executed in the electric chair.
I dont buy it Ken - You (and more than likely Andy Breckman) must have enticed the Mark E Smith with something to have you write this song for WFMU. And my ears thank you for that bribery…Well Done Ken!
