I have worked with 0-14 yr old kids for 15 years. The loss of children's creativity is widespread and in my experience is often actively encouraged by adults around them. very inspiring to hear you talk about this :0>

- & John Lennon's Auntie who raised him infamously told him 'a guitar's alright but you'll never make a living w/ it' - & threw out some of his early/childhood writings & drawings, which he said he'd never forgive her for. Lennon said this is what happens to kids in school: they tell this one he's an Artist, & that other one becomes the TruckDriver - but all kids instinctively like the crayons...

Doesn't also help that there's also the depraved obsession with greed and wealth among some people. Oh you better seek something that will get you a job so you can make x amount and be able to do this laundry list of things that'll apparently make you "happy" and "well lived".
Break the cycle, encourage anybody and just go out and get stuff done regardless of anything.
