Hi Therese and folks!

Therese:

Hello!!
Avatar 12:07am
Matt from Springfield:

I sense a *personal* theme?... ;)
This is great indie rock! Flying Nun/CD-86 era?
  12:13am
MONEYBAG$:

any interviews from the vault this week? perhaps the bass player from nuclear assault?
Avatar 12:16am
Therese:

Dan Lilker?
Avatar 12:18am
BadGuyZero:

How many bands has Dan Lilker been in? A dozen?
Avatar 12:19am
Therese:

I can think of three?
  12:20am
MONEYBAG$:

those three were so influential, they felt like a dozen
  12:24am
JakeGould:

So you were at an airport bar, Therese?
Avatar 12:26am
Matt from Springfield:

Bittersweet. We get back the hour they stole from us earlier in the year, without interest!!
  12:28am
JakeGould:

Yeah, I expected like 5 or 7 minutes back.
  12:31am
JakeGould:

@Therese: Saw some store giving out FULL tubes of toothpaste this weekend. The looks on kids faces. Can’t describe it.
Avatar 12:31am
Matt from Springfield:

I should shop around next year--maybe Greenwich or another observatory will give us better returns for our hour.
  12:32am
rw:

I put two shot glasses in the bowl of candy. Somebody took one. The other's still in there.
Avatar 12:32am
Matt from Springfield:

All these tainted Halloween urban legends were discussed on the Dusty Show this week :)
  12:33am
JakeGould:

@Therese: Yeah, the Park Slope Halloween stuff is nuts… It’s like child entitlement on top of parental entitlement.
Avatar 12:35am
BadGuyZero:

The next street over from me has dozens and dozens of multi-million dollar homes that date back to the early 20th Century. It is THEE place for kids to go trick-or-treating. Despite the fact that it was raining on-and-off last night there were thousands and thousands of kids roaming up and down Swiss Avenue.
Avatar 12:35am
Matt from Springfield:

Red glitter on heeled shoes - BAM! Ruby slippers.

It's official...Royals now beat Mets to win World Series. 30th anniversary of their last championship in 1985.
  12:35am
JakeGould:

@Matt: Stick a fork in it, it’s done, right?
Avatar 12:37am
Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Duh! Rich neighborhoods! The kids on Bob's Burgers even took a ferry to their rich neighborhood for Halloween--those Dallas kids don't even need to do that!

@Jake: Bottom of 12th--massive 5 point score 7-2. It's says "Final", and the ghost of Yogi Berra says "Okay, NOW it's over."
  12:41am
JakeGould:

I checked. Now it’s final. Tremendous season for the Mets but watched last night’s game and they stunk hard.
Avatar 12:44am
BadGuyZero:

@Matt: The founders of Blue Cross & Blue Shield, Magnolia Oil [now Mobil Oil], and Neiman-Marcus lived on Swiss Avenue. It was the first paved street in Dallas.
Avatar 12:46am
Matt from Springfield:

Gollie! No mud bouncin' up on yer slacks, that's nice!
My own family has been customers of the first two of those my whole life (Exxon-Mobil now).
  12:47am
rw:

BGZ do the multi-millionaires give out better candy than regular folk?
Avatar 12:48am
Matt from Springfield:

Obscure Psychedelic "Manuscripts"!! Love that choice of word for these lovely pieces!

@rw: Except perhaps Monty Burns...
  12:49am
JakeGould:

Do those Richie Rich’s give out full bars? They should.
Avatar 12:49am
BadGuyZero:

@rw: I don't know if the candy is better or just more abundant. But it's quite a scene. Most of the homes rope their yards off so kids don't go traipsing about on the lawns. They set up tables near the sidewalk that act as candy distribution stations.
Avatar 12:51am
Matt from Springfield:

The Space Lady--Bowie is natural subject material for her. (She MUST have done Bowie's space songs! I know she did "Major Tom (Coming Home)", but that was Peter Schilling).
Avatar 12:52am
BadGuyZero:

I wonder if she's covered any songs from "Into Outer Space With Lucia Pamela."
Avatar 12:54am
Matt from Springfield:

Laraaji!
  12:59am
rw:

BGZ we've got a similar situation up the street from me. It's not a rich neighborhood, but the residents go all out with decoration. It's pretty crazy. Fog machines, projections, haunted houses, etc. It's pretty fun.
  1:01am
rw:

One of my favorites was when one guy hid an overhead projector in his yard and put a bunch of crickets on it. Giant bug shadows crawling all over his garage.
Avatar 1:04am
BadGuyZero:

I grew up in a Southern Baptist household so we didn't do trick-or-treating. My parents would buy marked-down Halloween candy and hide it around the house a week after Halloween. It was sort of like the candy version of an Easter egg hunt, which was another thing we didn't do.
Avatar 1:08am
BadGuyZero:

"Never Say Never Again" was a remake of "Thunderball."
Avatar 1:08am
Matt from Springfield:

I think "For Your Eyes Only" (1981) should be the 12th.
Avatar 1:08am
Matt from Springfield:

Original "Casino Royale" (1967) as "Yakkety Sax" - HA! Good description Therese! :)

And yes, already on the comments board, already hit 'Enter' :)
  1:09am
Steve-O:

The movie in which Sean Connery came back was Never Say Never Again, I think. =)
Avatar 1:10am
Matt from Springfield:

Yes Steve-O, that was the "independent" return of Sean Connery with Kim Basinger. Essentially a rip off of "Thunderball"s plot.
Avatar 1:11am
BadGuyZero:

"Never Say Never Again" was produced by a different production company than the rest of the Bond films. Die-hard Bond fans do not consider it an official James Bond movie.
Avatar 1:12am
BadGuyZero:

"Disco Volante" is also the name of a fantastic Mr. Bungle record.
  1:13am
Steve-O:

@BGZ: Yeah, I can see why, as Albert Broccoli's Eon Productions did all the rest, IIRC.
Avatar 1:13am
Matt from Springfield:

@Therese: Oh, I thought you were wondering WHICH film was the 12th--at least I heard it that way.
  1:14am
Steve-O:

Hey, look, the guest, everybody! Welcome, Stephen! =)
Avatar 1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Nice acoustic rock. First I've heard of Stephen.
Avatar 1:18am
BadGuyZero:

I did some quick searching. I believe I have an answer. Barry composed scores for eleven Bond films. He did some arranging on "Dr. No," but there have been questions [and lawsuits] about whether or not he composed any of the "Dr. No" score, and if so, how much.
Avatar 1:22am
Therese:

Ah! Good searching, BGZ!
Avatar 1:24am
BadGuyZero:

Thank you, Therese!
Avatar 1:34am
Matt from Springfield:

YES! Tom Hanks as Wayne's cousin, roadie for Aerosmith!
Sitting in Wayne's breakfast nook, right where he eats Nut 'N Honey!
  1:35am
Steve-O:

Heh. Funny thing is, one of my great-grandfathers on my mom's side of the family was born in Paragould, in northeast Ark.; apparently, he only lived there a few years, though.
Avatar 1:45am
BadGuyZero:

I met Stephen a year or two ago when The Everymen played a show in Dallas. He and the rest of the band were super nice and a lot of fun to hang out with.
Avatar 1:48am
Therese:

Yes, Stephen told me that he met you!
Avatar 1:53am
Matt from Springfield:

He sounds super nice and fun!
Avatar 1:58am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Stephen, that was great!
Avatar 2:11am

Bert's blues!
Avatar 2:21am
BadGuyZero:

Good on you for not upsetting the FCC!
Avatar 2:25am
BadGuyZero:

Is a jumper like a coverall?
  2:27am
JakeGould:

Australian’s do that to. Worked in an office with an Australian lady and she was always cold and always was looking for her jumper.
Avatar 2:28am
BadGuyZero:

I found an article about the Einstürzende Neubauten sweater. It looks like a long-sleeve fleece as opposed to a knit sweater.

dangerousminds.net...
  2:29am
JakeGould:

Jumper sounds like “jumpsuit” to me. To her it was her sweater.
  2:31am
The Choke's On You:

In the UK they are called jumpers because lambs, which become sheep and then become wool, jump around; leaping lambs.
Avatar 2:33am
Therese:

That's a bit of a stretch, innit? Though I guess it's just as plausible as sweaters.
  2:33am
The Choke's On You:

By the way, GOOOOOOO KCCCCCCCCC!!!!!!!!
Avatar 2:34am
BadGuyZero:

Here's something to watch later for any of you that might be interested...Public Image Limited's appearance on "American Bandstand" in May 1980.

The Choke's On You:

I'm British, I'm not guessing, it's a fact.
  2:35am
The Choke's On You:

And just like all Brits, i detest chokers who wear jumpers. Gooooo KCCCCCCCCC!
  2:35am
JakeGould:

So maybe we in America should call t-shirts field seed weaves because they’re made from cotton? Why isn’t rubber called tree blood?
  2:36am
The Choke's On You:

Americans tend to call it how they see it…apart from Terry Collins of course…arf!
  2:38am
The Choke's On You:

What a choke job lol!
Avatar 2:39am
BadGuyZero:

The new bin must be overflowing.
  2:41am
The Choke's On You:

I know this isn't a sports forum, but hell, this was the choke of all World Series chokes lol, and besides, I suspect many a musical ode will be written to the tale of the woeful NY Mets 2015 WS effort.
  2:44am
The Choke's On You:

Is someone at WFMU willing to step up the the plate and deliver a 3 hour musical odyssey, presenting nothing but songs which reflect both the performance, and the effect on the Mets fan base. Maybe too soon?
  2:45am
JakeGould:

Last night’s game had some pathetic ass fielding from the Mets. I’m not a sports nut but went to a bar to watch and Jesus… It was just stultifying.
  2:47am
The Choke's On You:

I hear CBS are thinking of commissioning a new addition to the CSI franchise: CSI NY Mets 2015 WS. The amount of dissection needed to evaluate this gargantuan sporting meltdown would fill several seasons I'm positive.
Avatar 2:50am
BadGuyZero:

500mg has thirteen fewer eyes than Danzig.
  2:51am
The Choke's On You:

Anyway, enjoyed the show Therese, adored your voice as always.
Avatar 2:51am
Matt from Springfield:

@Choke: Bronwyn & Jim the Poet might attempt that - though their show is only 1 hour long.
  2:51am
Steve-O:

Anyway, Therese, thanks again for the kickass tunes(and for the fascinating guest, too!). It's why I donated to your show. That, and you're just plain awesome as a person, too. =)
  2:52am
The Choke's On You:

…and it's not a music show. Could you put it to them though?
Avatar 2:53am
BadGuyZero:

I wonder if Garrett Morris from SNL ever recorded a prog record with Jon Anderson from Yes.
Avatar 2:53am
Matt from Springfield:

@Choke: Suggest that in the comments at the start of the show on Tuesday :)
  2:54am
The Choke's On You:

Avatar 2:54am
BadGuyZero:

Is this all a setup to play a Weezer song?
  2:54am
The Choke's On You:

Candians didn't inherit our anarchism, only Australia
Avatar 2:55am
Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: Perhaps, if Sherman Hensley ever hosted in the original run, with Yes as the music guest - 13 minute epic suite joined by Sherman + Garrett on keys and percussion!
Avatar 2:58am
Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Therese for another great show! Bringing us musical company in these modern times! Thanks to Stephen C. and Matt M. for the nice set!

Have a good night everyone!
  2:59am
Steve-O:

Have a wonderful week, folks! =)
  2:59am
The Choke's On You:

The last comment should go to Terry Collins...
Avatar 2:59am
BadGuyZero:

Thank you for the great tunes, Therese! And thank you to everyone on the comments board for providing pleasant conversation. See you all here next time!
