Was it Marc Ribot or some other donwtowner who did the violin intro?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm

The musical notation for those 2 notes after "Why did Constantinople get the works?" is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@ngh, that is a good question - I am not sure who did the fiddle but it is so great, I should know that

@NGH It's Mark Feldman. Arto Lindsay guests elswhere on that record, fwiw

afternoon Amanda and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm

That downtown scene is so played out
  12:29pm
Dean:

Unsolicited recommendation: one of Feldman's colleagues, bassist Edgar Meyer, has a*spectacular* recording of some of Bach's 'cello suites performed on upright bass.

Thank you, the Young Fresh Fellows have made my day.

They knew the world was round. Like Spinal Tap w/ their Stonehenge model - Columbus got the Math wrong & thot India was where America is.

Mmm...whipped cream and marmalade...
  12:41pm
Dean:

Sounds like Ian McLagan playing guitar there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Mike East:

My daughter has been watching carebears the last week. Netflix produced a new series of them. She's also been eating green grapes like that raccoon.
Avatar 12:42pm

Elyse Weinberg sounds good!
  12:43pm
Dean:

My daughter has been keeping her distance from her brother, who has spent half a week hurling like the special effects at a KISS concert. Blech.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

& Alex Bevan whoever he is when he's @ home sounds like Tim Buckley's 2nd album. Which impresses!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm

Agree that Elyse Weinberg is ACE! This A. Bevan track is the best on the LP but dude, it is a very good song/production.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Brian in UK:

Hello Amanda. I manage to purchase a mint copy of The Best of Dave Edmunds on Swan Song recently with my favourite; Sabre Dance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Amanda:

Great!
  12:55pm
Listener Robert:

Mike East, you mean your daughter's been using both hands to pick up each grape, & tilting her head up to chew them?
Avatar 12:55pm

The Care Bears are jammin' to this one.

MONEYBAG$:

my dad forced me to see dave mason recently. that was...uh...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm

Oh good -- I was hoping the headbang would work out for at least one of these songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Amanda:

But you love TRAFFIC don't you??? (serious question)
  12:58pm
Santos L Halper:

Of course we love Traffic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Brian in UK:

Did DM have a song called The Only One?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Mike East:

@Listener Robert - I'd say more that she's voracious about it like the 'coon. She's pretty good at keeping food in her mouth without having to tilt her head back at this point.
  1:00pm
Dean:

At rush hour, not so much.
  1:01pm
MONEYBAG$:

Traffic is great, however he was NOT playing the songs the way they were written and it was annoying the hell out of me. Like Dear Mr. Fantasy with a different chord progression...what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...that Hendrix feller was all into hangin' w/ Traffic. (It's Mason on acoustic on Jimi's 'All Along the Watchtower'.) Who cares what I think?
Avatar 1:04pm
ndbob:

@Brian "Sabre Dance" was a big favorite when I was in college
Avatar 1:05pm
KP:

Why is that?
  1:06pm
Dean:

Dave Mason was on All Things Must Pass, too.
Avatar 1:06pm
ndbob:

@Rev wow - didn't know that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Brian in UK:

@ndbob when Love Sculpture were on John Peel's Top Gear show doing a session. They played Sabre Dance Mr Peel was so taken aback that he played it again later on in the show. '68 I guess.
  1:07pm
Dean:

Is Barry McGuire the source of that joke about ending a sentence with a preposition?
Avatar 1:08pm
ndbob:

@Brian that's great - my friend had the Love Sculpture LP it was on and played that track constantly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm
Charlie:

I liked that Barry McGuire song (I think the first by him I've liked). His delivery reminded me of Dr. Teeth.

Martin Mull's song sounds like "CHIPs" and Rappin' Rodney's studio musicians, I say

Dave Mason's "Just a Song" shoulda been a hit, I say
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm

Still use this line when failing spectacularly at something: "I regret nothing!! [splash]" www.youtube.com...

And there's a dog driving a bus!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm

Love that the bus-driving dog is not shown. And, LJfW, I love that book joke and "I regret nothing!" is something my old roommate used to say constantly. Still does, I think.

Excellent Simpsons Time. I love how Amanda started by saying she felt "underprepared" and ended by saying "I have so much more I I could say...."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm

Well, that doesn't mean I should say it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
