But what's more important is that it is, I suppose, an example of the new Congera-developed system that can have many uses elsewhere. I'm already thinking about using it for fundraising & communication about a building project I've been assigned & have little idea what to do about: completion of Balder Rising's Great Hall in Hawley, Penna.
Hi, folks. I can also see the new page on my Android phone with the Chrome browser. The black & white colors and the font are well readable. I like it.
I see what you mean, Rabbit, about finding links to the various stream schedules. I was hoping they'd make it context-dependent, so that if you have the GTDS clicked, that's the schedule you'd go to at the schedule link.
In the lower-right part of the Listen panel, there's a little arrow. If you click on the arrow, it shows different GIFs to the right of that. Some are animated GIFs.

i didn't hear the CD noise on that last track, myself. just like watching the briliant sunset tonight through a maze of trees. the color cuts right through. i'm listening over the airwaves, so if it sounds like radio noise.. well.
Hmmm...something is amiss for me (Firefox on Windows7). I get an error message: "The file you seek, /javascript();, cannot be shown because that file was not found." I get that when I click on the stream choices in the Listen panel.

What a blast from the past to hear "African Waltz," which of course was produced by my father. Fun fact: That record was a minor hit, but my father was always embarrassed by its success, because the arrangement was lifted pretty much note for note from the original recording of the song, by John Dankworth's big band. The Dankworth version was a hit in England, but was unable to gain any traction in the U.S. once Riverside rush-released the Adderley version. (The song, as I'm sure you know, was written by Galt McDermot, later famous for "Hair.")
Sorry, Fearless Leader Ken, maybe my browser's not handling the JavaScript correctly, but no such sub-menu pops up under the Rock & Soul or GTD stream links.
@RR: I cannot tell a lie, I asked for that Ichiban sched at the last minute... and because the admin interface is useful, ken was able to just add it in moments.

What a beautiful Miriam track! First time I've heard it. Another amazing discovery courtesy of Gaylord Fields!

Sweet, did they improve fast forwarding?

Why does the new home page say 90.1 in NY? What happened to Jersey City? I'm proud that this is a NJ station. You can get it in NY but this is a NJ institution. Is this self hating?
Love this piece.
i have it on a tape i made from a library album when i was a teen. 'never wrote down the info; the tape's just called "japanese from library".
@coelacanth: You probably already figured out that it's from an LP called The Koto Music of Japan, on Nonesuch.

Jane Payne:
Wow Gaylord, I was just at the homepage wondering what the hell is going on just as you were announcing it has all changed. It will require getting used to I suppose, I loved everything about the old homepage.
5:45pm
Linda Lee:
@Fred,yep ... New York is more of a brand than an actual city.
@coelacanth .. astounding to hear you've still got a tape from high school! unless you're a lot younger than i am. i graduated in 78. any tapes i made then are really something else now ..

The new playlist is smart, svelte, and chic enough for me. And so are you, @Gaylord. Just one listener's opinion, for what it's worth.

I mean the new HOMEpage.

i feel like i've been waiting to hear the Vierk all week long. what a great texture!
2¢: i'll get used to it, but it ain't no improvement.
program schedules are way down the bottom....and the seemingly useless feature of having to click "back to playlist" after posting a comment still exists.
-and where's a link for pop-up player? i don't usually use it,but sometimes- when my computer is feeling rebellious.
Hey everyone I'm a newish listener and am loving this show. Took about one week to be addicted. Gaylord, I picked your swag when making my first pledge. Early xmas to me.

Linda Lee:
@coelacanth, that's great!!
this Spinners song was one of my faves when it came out .. on a bunch of those radio-to-tape mixes i made myself.
@LizaJane: Welcome to all that is WFMU, and thanks for the support and kind words! And also be thankful you don;t have to adjust to our homepage changing for the first time in over two decades.
i love the string arrangement on that Spinners song. i have a reggae version of it. it's very good, but i always am disappointed when that string riff doesn't come in.
@Jane Payne .. i don't like the new page either, so i'm doing my best to avoid it. the old page worked well on dial up. this one not so much. but who cares?
Ever 2 decades? Mr. Fields, I think you exaggerated. ISTR the previous home page as only about half that old, maybe even less. However, I may be counting certain minor alterations as changes that you don't think of as being that fundamental.
5:59pm
Linda Lee:
@Liza Jane .. you'll be amazed at how contented & well adjusted you feel in just a short time after exposure to fmu. i've been listening since about 85 & i'm surely a better person for it.
i don't feel the need to change things that work well, except for cosmetically.(as in periodically changing the background color or the font) -but then,i work for people who have well-functioning households but have the illusion that an improvement can be made. it's probably boredom, mostly. anyway it keeps me working.

Right Gaylord, it's never the fault of the boss.
Yes Jeff, that could be interesting.
My only quibble with the homepage so far is all the text that is positioned ExactlyAtTheLeftEdgeOfThePage, which makes me extremely uncomfortable for some reason. I like indentations and wide margins, I guess.
@Linda Lee: interesting. I'm seeing comfortable amounts of space to the left of mostly everything in current versions of Firefox, Chrome and Safari on Mac OS 10.10.
@Jeff, i'm way behind you. Mac OS 5. 1, Safari 3.0.4 (Jurassic version).
my sense is the new page is updated for the present time, ergo my personal troubles.
What I'm seeing in Firefox is that when the browser is above a certain magnification level, the text is full left. Below that level, there's a margin on the left.
@JeffM (and others): No quibbles. The new homepage looks great! But I honestly am missing that blue/beige color scheme the old homepage had. I feel like I should be coloring things in on the home. But that is an aesthetic thing and not really a tech issue. It’s really nice past the colorblindness.
@MaryWing: You know about Firebug for Firefox? It’s a useful development tool that shows tons of debugging info. So it might be worth it to install that if you don’t have that setup—and even if you are not a developer—so you can see some deeper bits of info on what might be failing.
@Mary Wing - I fired up Internet Explorer and the Twitter and Recent Archive stuff appear near the bottom. On Firefox, it was on the right. In Chrome, they also appear near the bottom.
Have a good week, Gaylord. Happy Thanksgiving!

Also I see the links to listen to the other streams, but not the "About" links to the schedules.
