I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Listener comments!

Good (if sad, Bowie-less) Monday, Mayuko and all!
Avatar 5:03pm Mayuko:

Good evening james, I still don't get the sense of reality that Bowie has left us.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm listener james from westwood:

I went to bed last night just as the first tweets were coming in. I therefore dreamed about college, where I first really gave Bowie a close listen, courtesy of a roommate w/ a deep record collection. Was sad to wake up and have it confirmed.

Hello Mayuko!
  5:06pm Dave B:

Out of work early and strictly mobile at the moment - hello vertigo!
  5:08pm Listener142985:

Good afternoon, M. Liking the Bali stuff.
  5:09pm Dave B:

... and sorry I missed the party Saturday
Avatar 5:09pm Mayuko:

james, I saw the news late last night too, and I thought it could be a hoax. It feels very strange now.
Avatar 5:11pm Mayuko:

Hello Polyus, thanks for tuning in! And Listener142985, welcome on board! No problem, Dave B - my slot was 2am so you would've been too tired to stay anyway, haha. & It's archived!

Hi, Mayuko and Vertigists. I faded out early in your slot over the weekend. Then last night I was wide awake during Therese's show as the news unfolded.
Avatar 5:27pm Mayuko:

Yay, Gary!
Avatar 5:35pm Mayuko:

Hi Ken! Thanks for tuning in & checking out the beginning of my dance set, haha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Charlie:

Hello! Tuned in just in time to hear this Philip Bimstein piece, an old favorite of mine :)
Avatar 5:46pm Mayuko:

Hooray, Charlie! Thanks for tuning in. Glad you made it in time for this cowness.

(damn! I don't have any dog thing prepared!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm Gary:

This guy sounds like Hershel from Walking Dead
  5:58pm Listener142985:

I so prefer bovine sounds to Bowie right about now. RIP and all that but heard him all day. You go, girl! Do not question your choices just because you are not going with, ahem, the herd.
  6:02pm Dave B.:

David Bovine
Avatar 6:04pm Mayuko:

haha! well it's always healthy to have an alternative, no matter how good the mainstream is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm listener james from westwood:

Bebey's always a good alternative!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My woodpecker story is that I have an old tree stump in my back yard. Several times a week, a woodpecker (possibly the same one) hacks away at it searching for grubs. In a few years, the stump is going to be a mere pile of wood chips. Circle of life and all that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Charlie:

I like woodpeckers.
Avatar 6:16pm Mayuko:

I'm glad at least your woodpecker is not making your house into chips, Ken! I saw that it's a problem for some people. It's pretty fun that woodpeckers are like neighbors to us in New York. Never happened in Tokyo to hear them like here. I love their sound!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Charlie:

Speaking of percussion, an old friend of mine from college has an album coming out soon made up of sounds sampled from playing the Eiffel Tower as a percussion instrument. www.innova.mu...
It's a follow-up to his Bridge Music project, of sounds sampled from the Mid-Hudson bridge.

  6:23pm Dave B.:

I always liked Diego Stocco - "music from a dry cleaner"

Avatar 6:27pm Mayuko:

Haha, Charlie, your friend really is like a woodpecker. I heard they drum on metal roofs and stuff too. I'll check that out! the cover looks pretty funny.
  6:32pm Dave B.:

Reich and Roll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Charlie:

he looks like a big spider on the cover
Avatar 6:35pm Mayuko:

I need to check that dry cleaner out too. The dry cleaners in the basement of my apartment don't create much attractive sound, but his might have.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Charlie:

Well, time for dinner. Going out on another fave, Four Organs. :)
Avatar 6:36pm Mayuko:

Enjoy your dinner, Charlie! Thanks for hanging out with me here!

Avatar 6:39pm Mayuko:

Hello, Jeff G! Thanks for tuning in.
  6:41pm Dave B.:

Charlie - offals for dinner?
Avatar 6:43pm northguineahills:

Four Organs, one of the first pieces I played w/ my 'band' in college!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Funny coincidence. The same week I sent Ken my snowpile picture, he also posted the picture of Putin riding the woodpecker. www.wfmu.org...
  6:51pm Dave B.:

Not sure about the authenticity of that Putin pic... So here's a toad hitching a ride on a goldfish:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm Gary:

Thank you, Mayuko
Avatar 6:52pm northguineahills:

Glad I got the last 20 minutes of your show!
  6:54pm Dave B.:

See you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks for the fine show, Mayuko!
  6:57pm Jeff g.:

Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar 6:57pm Mayuko:

northguineahills, did you do all the 15 min?! That's so funny!
Avatar 6:58pm Mayuko:

Thank you all for listening! See you next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Have a good week, dear listeners.
Avatar 7:00pm Jesse K:

I caught the last hour at home, perfect vibes, thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 4:09pm fred:

Great show again, Mayuko. Yoshio Machida was new to me and really great. It might be obvious, but I think Four Organs is best experienced live. Do so if you haven't yet. And that woodpecker pic is so great! Dynamic in 2D, so many lessons there...
Avatar 12:27am Mayuko:

Thanks fred! I haven't heard it live yet, I'd love to! There gotta be a chance to do so in NYC, I hope.
