I hear Trump's scampaign fund is currently $1.3 million. Sounds like he needs advice on how to run an enterprise on a budget that size. Where could he possibly turn for help?
I hope this week has been better for you than last week, Ken.

Good morning, Kens, Maestroso!
It really felt Ken was away for months!
I'm sorry to hear Rooster passed away. Rooster, what a very very very very very good dog you were.
By the way Ken, do you have any more info on that St. Tony & The Death Biscuits show coming up at Monty Hall, with The Gangrenes and Cogito Ergot Rye opening?
Ken, I think Ben Walker would want you to say Pooeyflute on the air. Or wait, is it that Ken would want Ben to say Pooeyflute? I'm a bit confused at the moment.
'Tsu' is pronounced in an unvoiced dental/alveolar stop with the tongue between upper-mid and high positions. Take into account the 'S' is a coronal sibilant with a secondary stress.
The 'ShiMa' part contains both back close vowels and pulmonic consonants so please voiced them with aspirated glottal spiranto but neither rounded nor unrounded.
Pronounce the 'MiRe' ending part with a non-sibilant fricative on a pharyngeal manner. That is, treat the first as a consonant that momentarily stops the air flow through your mouth followed by the second syllable that you pronounce by forcing the air through a small gap.
In simpler words, follow the pattern: nasalised > velarised > palatalised
@marcel - Yeah but I'd imagine you wouldn't want to get it at the bodegas.. but it's nice as a last ditch effort or if you're too lazy to go to the more boutique dispensaries..
By the way, thanks to Sasha for inviting DJ HotRod to fill in for her yesterday morning. That was such a fun show! If there's a way to add HotRod to any more shows, that would be great.
Btw 420 is the calling code for the Czech Republic.

Hi Ken & Co! Pere Ubu, Voivod, and (God help me) Lynyrd Shynyrd are always welcome.
Khlam: like certain kinds of poetry or stinky exotic cheeses, a taste that requires a period of cultivation to acquire.
I had a professor come in giggling in hysterics one morning because a student had submitted an essay about Gandhi but their spellcheck changed it all to Gonad
I got into ham radio late last year and my HF transceiver can receive shortwave. It's always great when you stumble upon something that's not just a bible thumping loudmouth, although brother stair is pretty trippy.
Well I think usually ESL is used for teaching in English-speaking countries to immigrants, while TEFL is for non-English-speaking countries teaching to children or adult learners. Not sure about TESOL or TOEFL though.
Mrs. Parq just obtained her TESOL certificate from Teacher's College ('scuse me while I brag here) and will be teaching in Poland later this summer. I just told her Cecile's theory, and she says that, for some people, that's pretty accurate.
Blacula420 I'm going over there to take a TEFL course and teach English for a year or two (and maybe more depending on how things go). Also will be traveling a bit around Europe on weekends if I can work out finances etc.
Optimized! Is now completely audio archived now and we are adding videos by the day too (wfmu.org...) - plus in the other window I'm making a little documentary from the footage we shot
11:16am
Laura L:
What ˫̃ ..̺ ˫̃ ..̺ (: said--thanks to Vicki and to Ken, as always!
11:18am
Blacula420:
WFMU show archives still blow me away, I love the fact that you guys keep so many shows archived and accessible, really rad
@ ˫̃ ..̺ ˫̃ ..̺ - Actually, Ken took my basic premise, ignored most of my questionable suggestions, turned it into a good SSD, and then gave me credit...
11:25am
Dean:
So maybe technically it should be called "flûte merdique."
I'm with cory. Optimized was positively spectacular and I want more! And I love Hearty White! It was nice to hear him in the afternoon. I usually have to stop his show halfway through to leave work for the day.
But the inspector said that I could continue nailing anything into the street I wanted, as long as I unnailed and removed it every Monday and Thursday from 1-3pm, for the streetsweeper.
you might want to find the neighbour, explain it to them, you know, the situation, and how difficult it is to have to keep all those cones in your car all the time
11:32am
Sam:
It's perfectly humane. The cones aren't conscious when you do it. What's the problem?
So, the first recording of an electric guitar happened on Mar 1, 1938. Big Bill Broonzy's "It's a Low Down Dirty Shame" featured a 16 year old George Barnes on electric guitar.
I was in Denver in Nov. and talking to a guy about their pot industry and he said they have so much money now that they don't know what to do with it...
I get the impression that stores in Colorado that didn't start-out as medicinal stores are different...meanwhile, Washington State seem to be endangering their medicinal tranch. We never stop making mistakes...but it's still net progress.
I bought weed drops in Seattle - wonderful! Brought a few back to the east - one of the TSA agents wanted to search my bag - pocket knife I forgot to take out - was nervy nervous
A friend of mine brought back a back of brownie bites from Seattle last week. Cute little package and everything. Amazing, the liquor stores aren't even open on Sunday where I live.
@Sam
According to the "Half-Baked" episode of Viceland television's "Weediquette", sales in the Federal District are forbidden, but permitting possession and gifting has provided cover for some sellers, e.g. an intercepted delivery-guy can just lie. (The same episode also examines how Dutch right-wing nativists are destroying the extra-legal understandings that formerly allowed their system to work.)
11:59am
˫̃ ..̺ ˫̃ ..̺ (:
Oh, for the love of crackers! How come show's over already!?
Anyway, thanks Ken, people, people like us and people that dislike us! Till next episode!
11:59am
jsola:
Hi DJ Ken,
Will you post a link to that music that had a voice saying "GUNS" over and over, in a soothing almost robotic voice. You played it a month or two ago.
Thanks everybody! jsola - that is Negativland's "Guns" - you can find it on my old playlists. Use advanced search on the WFMU website.
12:01pm
˫̃ ..̺ ˫̃ ..̺ (:
jsola,
Perhaps that's Nevativland's Guns.
12:01pm
jsola:
Thank you!! It's been in my head since you played it!

Sam:
The last time I was in Amsterdam I was amazed how many coffeeshops had closed and how much the vibe had changed. I'd rather go to Seattle at this point.
