Favoriting Brian Turner: Playlist from August 30, 2016 Favoriting

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Jeff:

I don't know why (maybe just temporal associations), but after hearing some of these tracks I'm thinking of the Pop-O-Pies.

Actually, did the Pop-O-Pies do some kind of anti-disco thing in addition to Truckin' a million times? If so, maybe the Insane Coho Lips appearance is to blame for my thinking of that project. Otherwise it's just the usual misfiring neurons.
Avatar 5:33pm
Creamo Coyl:

I love Pop-O-Pies! They wrote on the best NYC diss songs ever, and it's still completely applicable 30+ years later.
They do have a parody disco cut.
Show is rulin', dudes!

To be fair, Saint Marks is even worse nowadays… It’s like a crappy outdoor strip mall with bad food choices and most of the offerings are food.
Avatar 5:45pm
Creamo Coyl:

I love Joe's Popopies saracastic anti-hippie anti-punk hippie-punkness. Plus he's actually got a great voice.

@Brian, I think I've heard that but I'll have to compare. It's only like 90 seconds, but Joe covers a lot of ground.

I wrote a NYC diss song once, but I dunno if it cracks any list.
