Fun Pentangle fact - Pentangle drummer Terry Cox played drums on David Bowie's 'Space Oddity'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am melinda:

Nice Gravy Waltzes.
  9:13am DaveinPA:

I used to own a cool ARP Pro Soloist demonstration record that had a cool electronic version of Gravy Waltz - I'm sure there's a copy on YouTube somewhere...

Mornin' bb & friends!
Avatar 9:19am annie:

mornin' all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:20am dale:

nice to hear pentangle. i'd like to hear some relf/mccarty renaissance explored here. anything jane relf did NOT sing on, like 'kings and queens' is excellent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am melinda:

Now I feel the need to look up Jane Relf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26am dale:

there were two renaissance's melinda. relf/mccartney after yardbirds and then the annie haslam group 'borrowed' the name. relf/mccartney came back and called themselves 'illusion.' jane relf's voice is awful in my opinion, but i guess she was free.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am melinda:

haha. I will look them all up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am dale:

this is a good place to start. they were one of the first to bring classical into rock music.

I think its safe to say that composers like Bob Colbert were influenced by Leroy Anderson when writing radio and TV themes.
Hi Bob and Brainenerds!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am doctorjazz:

That Bud Powel track is one of my favorite EVER!
Avatar 9:31am mauri:

  9:34am Dennis Diken:

"down-HILL"! I caught that, good one Bob!
  9:34am James F:

mornin, Bob! who knew that there was a Steve Miller jam that I could love like your first track today!!!!
  9:37am P-90:

I'd like to think that Leroy Anderson's significance will be better appreciated as folks look back on music of the 20th century and recognize his significance.
Avatar 9:38am bobdoesthings:

@mauri - Good morning everybody, it's going well.. OH you all meant Brainen... oh sorry. Hi anyways.

Great songs! And this music for commercials is really good. Somehow it feels like home. Dont get me wrong. Not as a commercial in anyway. Hyvää huomenta Sem.

Fellow FMU lovers, please don't forget your friend Bob and all his nutty friends during the Silent Fundraiser. We're losing JM in the AM in December, and with it, their many generous supporters. If you want Bob to be able to continue his Saturday extravaganzas, please make a pledge!

Enjoying your show this morning, Bob! Mellow Candle really shot the moon with their name, huh?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:42am WilliamfromDumont:

I concur with Mark R.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44am Sem Chumbo:

Ja hyvä iltapäivä teille, @mauri. Vain ulkona puutarhassa, valmistautuu talven.
Avatar 10:47am bobdoesthings:

I need to look more into Ryuichi Sakamoto -- Mayuko played a song called "Ikenai Rogue Magic" by Kiyoshiro Imawano & Ryuichi Sakamoto - which was this amazing glam rock spoof song with a very silly video -- but a lot of other stuff with "Ryuichi Sakamoto" s name on it is quite different. if it's the same guy , he must have quite the eclectic career
  10:47am Mikey from NC:

Bob - Thanks for another Clarence White piece. Outstanding!
Avatar 10:49am mauri:

:D Sem Suomi on vaikea kieli.
Avatar 10:50am bobdoesthings:

If anyone is interested in the awesome glam rock song I speak of - Mayuko played it was on this show : wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53am Sem Chumbo:

No shit @mauri!
  10:57am Stuart Rose:

I tried making a pledge- to support captain Bob- but I could only get halfway through it. It froze. Not sure if it was my iPad but maybe the station's tech guy/gal ought to check things out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think Sakamoto got pinned w/ the 'New Age' label - & those two words just as often used to dis things...but MusicNerds (...'nerd' as a positive...) seem to like a lot of stuff that's called 'New Age'. If you called it Ambient or something...Every genre label has its' - complications...& - haters just gonna hate, as the kids say...I mean, it's not like 'New Age' artists exist in some other world oblivious to our Media experiences, w/out any sense of humor, so on...
Avatar 10:58am bobdoesthings:

great show Bob!! From one bob to another. Thanks! Have a great day.

Other musicians seem to dig Sakamoto just fine.

Hi, Bob. Typo on the playlist. "Rain and Snow" by Pentangle, not "Rain and Soul".
