Hey there Andrew Waterloo.
Can't ever go wrong with Sandy Denny.

A performance of this song or a close relative to same was one of the most surprisingly sad moments in the show "Deadwood."

Jeff Golick:

Oh dear. This could be a problem. So this show was pre-recorded in order to get both Jeffs together again. I fear that there was a glitch in the uploading process, and we're getting this set break again -- I do believe we'll be back on course after this (bonus!) repeat set break.

D:O with no glitches wouldn't be D:O radio. Double the Jeffs probably means double the technical issues. I'm fine with that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am
Jeff Golick:

Thanks for the understanding, @fred! How're you doing?
Avatar 9:52am
Jeff J:

Fred - Double the glitches is probably too true! It's adding some drama to this upcoming set break, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am

(I'm just hoping the next time we get a repeat section of the show, it'll be music.)

Hey Jeff Squared and Outsters! What a great set I missed (slept in...). Will have to play it later from the archive. I'm a Richard Thompson junkie, in all his various gigs, but most of the rest of the names are not familiar. Be taking you out with me as usual...
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:04am
fred:

@Jeff and Jason: I will be cut off from WFMU for at least a month starting next weekend, so my not checking it won't be for lack of interest. No internet access at all for me because I don't have a smartphone or laptop. Next Sunday I'll see my favorite singer, Byambajargal Gombodorj. I actually delayed heart surgery so that I could go to that show, I'm checking into the hospital the next day
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:08am

best of luck, Fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am

Delaying heart surgery for a concert is a baller move, @fred. Seriously, though, wishing you all the best - hope it goes well, and will look forward to seeing your red avi gracing these pages come December.

Hi @doctorjazz - thanks! There's more Richard to come, and much more from his colleagues and sometime collaborators on the British scene. Hope some of them catch your fancy.

Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:24am

@Jeff: I don't know their records. It was 5 years ago, so maybe the energy wasn't all that high, but I loved their set enough that I have no interest in spoiling that experience by listening to "better" releases. Some people in the audience were saying they really sucked compared to their records, so I decided I'd stick with liking the experience
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28am
Jeff Golick:

RE PLEDGES: We do not have a way of knowing who may have contributed to D:O Radio in recent days and weeks (or minutes?), so please know you have our undying THANKS, whoever you are. I suspect we'll be able to make proper shout-outs in the coming weeks.
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:30am

"a la mode", so to speak (ouch). All that droning really does give this stuff an "out" feel...
Avatar 🦀 Swag For Life Member 10:31am

I still hope the Cubs will win, and retire that stupid curse talk. Also, if Cleveland gets two titles in the same years, the Browns will feel bound to lose every game in OT on a weird play, just to prevent a city-wide identity crisis
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am

The Browns should be so lucky as to make it to OT once or twice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32am

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46am
Jeff Golick:

Yah, Dylan in England in 65/66 is like a perfect marriage of source material and galvanizing force - good timing.
Avatar 10:47am

Davy Graham was a genius. His album with Shirley Collins was a game changer for the scene. Wish we had more space for his solo material in this show.
Avatar 10:47am

@fred good luck with the surgery. I work at Harefield Hospital so have some degree of appreciation of what you are facing. Bypass, valves or other; if I may ask?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am
Jeff Golick:

I'm a New Englander by birth, so I too have hung with the Patriots. (Too many baseball games via local media to withstand becoming a Mets fan, though.) I had a Russ Francis jersey in junior high, e.g. I rather dislike the new logo ("new") and new Pats fanbase of smug asshats.

fred the trick is do what you are told and you will get better quicker. I know that sounds obvious. It is a roller coaster ride but you go in with a positive attitude and you are half way there. Ensure that the pain relief is effective, Temazepam is good but can be trippy.

If you remotely enjoyed this show, you'll dig the Electric Eden book.

I'm so looking forward to the next show I'll be able to hear. Don't get too proficient, I'd be confused without those glitches

@Brian: I don't have a phone at all. I'll be totally out of touch

I missed the show but have just looked through the playlist and noted a disappointing failure to include anything by Nic Jones (best albums: The Noah's Ark Trap (1977), From the Devil to A Stranger (1978), Penguin Eggs (1980).

Jeff Golick:

Hello, @John. Thanks for stopping by. I confess that Nic Jones is a new name for me. And he doesn't come up in the ELECTRIC EDEN book we were using for a show blueprint. But happy to have new aural avenues to pursue.
