Hey redkayak, Mike, Andrew, Jake & Doug! glad to have you all here. We thought everyone would be listening to Obama's last speech instead of listening to WFMU tonight.

Happy New Year, Irene. As Obama just said, "Reality has a way of catching up with you."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm

Hey Michael! Reality is a bit overrated, I think.

"Plastic Tales from the Marshmallow Dimention" is the show that introduced me to William Shatner's "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds", a truly un-Earthly sonic experience. All hail!

Just last week I and the missus were agreeing that the Moody Blues were under rated....I guess Pink Floyd reminds me of them....

Not only did Ken do six hours straight last Wednesday morning, but he also did Seven Second Delay at 6PM.

It's ok to mispronounce the act of trying is appreciated especially if you are willing to admit that you may be butchering or ask for correction- go for it! I know. my last name has 13 letters in it and though it's phonetic it is a slavic slew that frightens many, understandably.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I think you mean Taj Mahal in the Rising Sons - not Bo Diddley. We're all in great from tonight - is there something in the water??...

Andrew:

Wondering if your guest felt some attraction to his "colorful" nom de radio because it retained just a small piece of his off-radio name (couldn't resist seeing what google would tell me about him, and also Henry Thomas who was new to me). A fun guest.
  11:31pm
Tommy Jack Haynes:

It's 60s Uk Art Rock tonight .....love it , Irene
  11:32pm
Peter K.:

The keyboardist who has played with the Moody Blues and Yes is Patrick Moraz. You and I saw him as a special guest with Renaissance a year or so ago. He's kind of nuts. And the Mellotron movie is called "Mellodrama."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Irene Trudel:

Thanks Peter! I thought it might be Patrick but wasn't sure he played with the Moodys.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Happy to hear that Moody Blues selection.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
Irene Trudel:

Andrew, he says his name is sort of a play on the color chart names of the rainbow (Red orange yellow Green Blue indigo violet). It was fun having him! Fun introducing him to the Moody Blues (hadda play them because of the earlier discussion on the comments too).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
Steppenwolf:

Probably my favorite avant garde group
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
Steppenwolf:

I was just thinking a few minutes ago Renaissance would fit right in with tonight's playlist !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53pm
Irene Trudel:

Yeah, Renaissance is a fave of mine too, Steppenwolf. Annie Haslam still has it as a vocalist too. They were supposed to tour with Curved air this past autumn, but it might've gotten cancelled.
  11:53pm
Andrew:

So your guest's radio name is, in a way, the lost chord. Every so often I listen to the first 9 Moody Blues albums in order. They were a staple of my college years, "beginning trippers' music," as friend of the time put it.
  11:54pm
Mike tp:

Patrick Moraz had a solo lp out with the rest of Yes. Chris Squire FISH OUT OF WATER was beautiful. They were all good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm
Irene Trudel:

Same here, Andrew. "To Our Children's Children's Children" especially. On that note, I bid you all good night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
Steppenwolf:

Irene...I wore the gloves off my Renaissance Live at Carnegie hall album in the 70s...would have never heard of them if not for Deacon Light ..a radio show broadcast out of Wake Forest Univ . Winston Salem NC

Great show, Irene and a bonus of a bit of Steven Wilson, thank you

jeremyo:

Hi Irene, catching up with the show. If you're still wondering what Henry Thomas played it was quills, kind of like pan pipes I think. Plenty of stuff on the old internet but this is good oldweirdamerica.wordpress.com... In fact Dom Flemons comments at the end of that post that he used quills on one of his albums.
