Live Performance by Ensemble Adilei |
||||||||||
The Republic of Georgia is renowned for its resplendent vocal polyphony. The male vocal ensemble Adilei has roots in Guria, Western Georgia - an area whose vocal tradition features improvisation and distincitive rhythmic yodeling. Adilei's New York visit includes a Wednesday night performance at Barnard College's Diana Center plus Brooklyn shows at Barbes in Park Slope on Thursday night and Jalopy in Red Hook on Friday night . Rob Weisberg of WFMU's Trans-Pacific Sound Paradise co-presented Adilei, and they'll sing (and yodel) their way into your hearts! |

Ensemble Adilei were absolutely enthralling!
and THANK YOU so much for the tribute to Maggie Roche -- many moons ago The Roches performed at Rutgers; they were truly magical -- and, b/c i was one of the volunteers working the show, i got to meet them -- such incredibly warm, sweet people! and still one of the best shows i have ever experienced, even after all these years :)
