Listener comments!
9:02am : Good morning, Mr Bob and gathered Brainiacs.9:03am : Good Morning!
This song made me long for the Help album when i was 8 years old.9:04am : Tuff'to beat... Mornin'!9:07am : Great Hollies harmony9:08am : Good Morning From San Dog(San Diego) California. This West Orange is missing Jersey...."but Savior Faire(WFMU) is Everywhere!"9:08am : The UK version (tempting to say - the 'real' one) of 'Help!' - shows what a strong & important album it is - deserving even of some of 'Rubber Soul''s glory.9:18am : The UK versions are the real ones.
:-)
(Though I love the Capitol Reverb on "I Feel Fine" - since the Capitol-re-mix is the virst version i heard).9:31am : Yikes. Slept late and missed almighty st all of this fine opening set.9:36am : All this time I just assumed Hentoff was a NYer.9:45am : Me too Stuart. Woke up the ipod to Bob's dulcet tones ...9:55am : Killer Brummels!9:55am : My routine now is to listen to Jerry Hickey on WOR before Bob's show, if I'm up early enough. Today I was & caught Hickey from the beginning. I learned from him today that Hickey is the most common surname in Ireland. Yeah, I know it's basically an infomercial, but I trust him to play it straight, and the subject matter interests me as a biochemist.9:57am : I always considered the U.K. version of The Rolling Stones "Aftermath" as the "real" version. Not sure how / why Decca/London made the N America version such a poor step-brother version.9:58am : Love Family. Thanks Bob for recognizing a vastly under-rated gem of a band!10:06am : great show, bob!10:08am : Me too Bob. "Music in a Doll's House" their first is also brilliant - also considering it came out in 1967 the year of our lord Sgt. Pepper!10:24am : Tadpole- "Year of our Lord Sgt. Pepper"
Witty.10:26am : alas, no jambalaya10:27am : My most favorite Pentangle song!!! Thank you!!10:39am : Gil Evans cut was Sunken Treasure, rather than Bilbao Song.10:44am : I like hearing 60s bands I'm not familiar with, like the Ivy League.10:45am : You're wise melinda ;-)10:45am : Thanks for correction on Evans!10:47am : Bob - that Pentangle track was out-frickin-standing! Never knew what I've been missing with these guys. Just checked Amazon - used cds of that Lp go for a minimum of $47!10:47am : Watched IvyLeague sing it on YT, some '64 NME awards concert or something - slightly funny-looking three guys different heights - but they brought those vocals Live.10:50am : @SmokinJ: bob's show has been great for that.10:50am : Dig it..10:55am : Just drove down the NY State Thruway listening since Driva Man. Damn fine show. Thanks for making the Hudson Valley suck a whole lot less.10:59am : Oh - that's right! The IV's sang backup on 'I Can't Explain' : en.wikipedia.org...3:44pm : Bob, check out the last 5 minutes of Alexander Courage's music for 'Day of the Outlaw' on youtube. Exceptional!
