Good morning!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07am fred:

@Jim: I only noticed last week the WFMU reference in your bio over at the awl

Good morning Jim and everyone!
Avatar 6:13am Sem Chumbo:

Diggin' out after the overnight blizzard. Thanks for the Lightning Hopkins. Good morning, Jim, fred, Sebastian, and GfC.
  6:14am Clïff in Prägůe:

"Dobré odpoledne" is supposed to be how you say "good afternoon" in Czech.... but I never hear that, instead people just say "Dobrý den" ("good day!") no matter what time of day it is.
  6:14am Courtney of Morris:

Wait, was that number for real? And I thought it was jm in the am not jim in the am
  6:15am Call Screener John:

You go Jim pt 2!
Avatar 6:17am mauri:

Mornin Jim and everyone. A sunny day here in Finland and I'm head out to the lake to ski. Carole already takes me there.
Avatar 6:20am Sem Chumbo:

Hey, mauri. Lucky you! Blizzard here overnight, snowed under.
Avatar 6:23am mauri:

Hey Sem. We had -20C this week but next will be sunny and +3. I wonder if this was it. the winter has been really mild this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31am Sebastian:

I'm OK with bees, they're cool. I'm just incredibly terrified of wasps.
  6:32am If the shoe Fitz:

  6:34am Torbjørn:

Robot bees will be the end of us all, obviously. As is the case in general with all things robotic. Seems like the only reasonable reaction is to hit back with robot humans, which I guess I'll call romans. Or hubots, your choice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35am dale:

hey jim the p! sorry i missed yesterday. do you read from your bulging sac of mail in this slot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36am Sebastian:

What kind of honey would robot bees make?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36am dale:

magnetic honey
  6:40am sim:

Robotic bees would act as pollinators. The question I have is of security. I assume the bees would need to be networked for coordination and control. I would think it would be relatively easy to pervert the swarm for your own purposes, like the webcam DDOS attack from a few months ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41am dale:

114! she must have looked like a ghurkin!
  6:42am sim:

Still, having your own swarm of robot bees... imagine a defensive cloud of them.
  6:45am Pere:

There's a great and incredibly scary Black mirror episode involving artificial (drone) bees. @sim your comment is close to the plot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47am dale:

nanotechnology means robotic fire ants and leeches and mosquitos spreading polonium poisoning. i care not for such a world.
  6:47am Cooh John:

"When Robot Bees Attack!"
  6:47am sim:

But the robot bees would almost certainly be limited to pollinating cash crops, no wild flora pollination.
  6:49am sim:

If robot bees could also be used for pest management, it could decrease the use of pesticides which could allow the living bee population to bounce back.
  6:52am sim:

@dale, we're not talking about evolving robots. What's the economic incentive to make robot fire ants? As for killing people, there are already cost-effective and more easily implemented methods and technology.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54am dale:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55am doctorjazz:

Cloudy & 37° but not too gloomy here in Prague.
  6:57am sim:

Yay, Powerage! I think EFD is the only other DJI've heard play this on WFMU.
  6:57am Beefaroni McNoockle:

maybe read some Eileen Myles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58am dale:

no "B"oyz 2 men please.
  6:58am sim:

What does Eileen Myles write?
  6:59am Cooh John:

Caveat emptor on the robot bees. Whenever man comes up with 'a great idea' there are side effects: DDT, thalidamide, fossil fuel burning, trumpocracy, et. al. ad nauseum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Sebastian:

Please no Queen for the Q... play Quetzal!
Avatar 7:01am Sem Chumbo:

Excellent point, CJ. Man seems to forget he is of nature, not outside of it.
  7:02am sim:

Ooooh! poetry! How about "Little Bonking Sound (Inside My Head)" by June Melby!
  7:04am Fredericks:

  7:59am Clïff in Prägůe:

Does The The count as T? Because you're supposed to skip over "the" when alphabetizing. Maybe it has no place in the alphabet
Avatar 8:00am fm Mike:

  8:02am Richard:

Good sounds we in Tennessee enjoy your morning show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am Sebastian:

Škoda is owned by VW today, I'm sure they made them build in something to screw over the carowner in some sneaky way
  8:05am Znok:

Stop spreading FUD. Skodas are a VW subsidiary nowadays and are basically as well engineered as a VW (they share a large number of parts) -- dieselgate nonwithstanding.
