How about some Vicious Cabaret today?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Michael 98145:

and to all the seamonsters out at sea

[nods approvingly at turntable spinning Ulan Bator, orders a pint of something weird..]

this is a wise choice, the news at my doorstep requires noise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Michael 98145:

good noise is worth a thousand pictures

To think I am losing my virginity right now to this song on the Scott Williams show. Life is good.

SSSCCCOOOTTTTT!!!!! hi (and hi to all)
Avatar 3:15pm Chris from DC:

Oh shoot, this version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Rob (Jerzcity):

Moments of this sound like a satirical Eddie Vedder impersonator

Scott and all!
Avatar 3:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HEH! The golden age of Porcupine Tree. [holds up a hand of caution to Cheri]: "it's OK, let this one go, it isn't mature enough for the taxidermist's blessing..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Devin B.:

Afternoon, Scott and all.
Avatar 3:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

....but after it matures to post "Sky-Moves-Sideways" age, it reaches maturity & safe to bag it for the diorama....
Avatar 3:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Sorry to admit my ignorance on Townes VanZandt. That piece had a similar scent to Pearls Before Swine's "if you don't want to, i don't mind" -- and that is a very good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Scott Williams:

EVERBUDDY! Welcome welcome. Slow to git on in here this aft, sorry - spring fever in JC
  3:37pm khd:

haha i'm imagining the sean landers piece with this orchestra

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm Mister Dobalina:

Don't forget to put sunscreen on the chrome dome!
  3:44pm JakeGould:

The Who! “Live at Leeds” has tracks that sound tons better than the studio version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Parq:

With apologies to Clay Pigeon, I am no longer much of a "Yes" fan, but I still think that the live version of Roundabout on the three-disc live album from the early 70s is the only thing they did that *rocks*. (A la Clay, sings a few bars of Roundabout in "big" vibrato voice)
Avatar 3:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Top 3 endorsed live LPs - Hawkwind: Space Ritual (sure it's a mishmash of 2 shows + edits & fixes, but what the hell) / Grobschnitt: Solar Music Live / Motorhead: No sleep till Hammersmith ... because rawk.
  3:52pm Pas Musique:

Live album I love. Dry Humping the Cash Cow by Alice Donut including the fake applause.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Scott Williams:

"Live at Leeds" and "Space Ritual" = CONCUR!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Bas NL:

I was thinking of 'No sleep till Hammersmith' too @Rev.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Devin B.:

Two live records that leap to mind: Television's "The Blow Up" is an old favorite, although I can't say the sound is all that great. LaMonte Young and the Forever Bad Blues Band's "Just Stompin'" punches about as hard as you could want.
  3:55pm JakeGould:

James Brown “Live at the Apollo” (1963) is great, but parts of it (maybe all?) are faked live.
  3:56pm flashbazbo:

Ok but anyone like the studio suffragette city better than David live?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm drr:

Marvin Gaye Live At The London Palladium is very good, but lots of it was re-recorded after the fact.
Avatar 4:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

BOSS SCOTT: I don't suppose live jazz LPs fit that conversation with Trouble? ... it's a different thing. ...cuz "An Electrifying Evening with the Dizzy Gillespie Quintet" totally needs to join my top 3 up there.
  4:02pm JakeGould:

And how about “The Thelonious Monk Orchestra at Town Hall?” Or does jazz not count in this checker game.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Scott Williams:

b'lieve it or not Rev, I recently heard a Harry Belafonte live record that blew me away, it sounded so good! Really good microphones, well-placed n'shit
  4:10pm jeff-m:

Wow. This Vibracathedral Orchestra is serious business.
Avatar 4:16pm fred:

If Oneida ever release a live record, I think it will instantly break my personal top five, at least

Avatar 4:34pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I recall seeing David Van Tieghem a lot on TV in the 1980s -- public TV indie shorts or something... camera-man following him walking thru the streets of NYC drumming on everything while strolling..
Avatar 4:46pm fred:

That reminded me of this video (though I prefer many of her other ones) vimeo.com...

Those that have been enjoying this set might want to check out Ridgewood Radio on the GTDR stream Wednesday afternoons, I think.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Speaking of GTDR and speaking of Scott: Scott McDowell is filling in for Sam Segal on the Drummer stream from 9 to midnight tonight.
5:23pm Dave in Vermont on the phone:

Thanks, Ken. I've been thinking about Scott McDowell and John Allen lately. Missing those early am shows.
