"A little traveling music, Sam" this morning in honor of today's obvious-from-the-GIFs theme? Interrupted journey? The road not taken? Up, up, and away with you?

Welcome back, Ken!
Glad to read you. Did you have a buena vida in Costa Rica?
Talking about CR I read in one Central American newspaper last week that police are searching for an unknown American man who bought 127 million pesos in toucanets in the black market.
Coincidentally 127 million pesos is equivalent to the marathon money WFMU raised just few weeks ago!
Hello f0f0 and Robert - I had what I thought were three toucanets but it turned out they were really aracarias, so I was dragged from the plane and maimed. But I guess I kinda deserved it. Aracarias and Toucanets look really different.
So you playing something about a Louisville Slugger? Woo, woo, which doctor...gets tossed? Musical chairs, full contact version? Sittin' on the doc over the cargo bay, wasting everybody's time? He's got a ticket to ride, but we don't care?
Bobby Conn! I have mixed emotions about how many of my favorite Bush-era protest songs are suddenly relevant again.

Sorry, I don't know, Ken. I haven't heard the full album because I'm pretty sure it would be impossible to surpass the greatness of a song like El Circulo.
Wow, speaking of Sean Lennon, there is a movie on Netflix that I just watched called "A Monster in Paris". Not a great movie, but Sean voiced a character and sang a number of tunes that were very nice.

Last week's People Like Us's show was sensational! A shame I missed it live (alas no one told me!). As usual, very intricate and gorgeous music.
P.S. THE MUUUUUFFIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINSSSS!!!Another song that demonstrates Ken has perfect taste for instrumentals.By the way, PLU has perfect taste for instrumentals WITH lyrics.
The one thing I love about most of the great instrumentals Ken plays is that they never tire me. There are tons of great songs with vocal music that Ken plays and I really love but after listening to them over the years most of tend to bore me. But with instrumentals songs this never happens! They always stay classic and fresh! Does this only happen to me?
I was shocked that the "Irving Klaw Trio" track was NOT accompanied by a Betty gif. Did you do Ayahuasca in South America or something? What's wrong with you?!

My favourite part of the The Irving Klaw Trio is the typo. This is the only song that I can think of at the moment that has a typo in the lyrics. Singer sings "sangre en mis 'veginas', instead of "sangre en mis venas".
Thank you for the heart Station Manager Banana Fingers.

Warning ? From Monterrey? No way! There's an early 70s video from Warning on the youtubes (Why can't the Body Fl). Probably same name but different bands.
Poor Dr. Dao. If I'd been one of the selected passengers I would not have fought the removers, but I think it takes someone standing their ground like that to bring attention to corporate ruthlessness.
A lawyer friend of a friend says the flight was not overbooked. It was a scheduling error that could have easily been remedied, but they said overbooking so that the onus was on the passenger.
its times like these i'm happy i dont have tv and dont follow any news and am completely unaware of what is going on.... so some guy got kicked off a plane huh?
I had not heard of Christie's latest hypocrisy. Recall that his buddy and MTA consigliere, David Samson, admitted last year to accepting bribes from United and setting up what was basically a private route from Newark, NJ to a rural South Carolina airport near Samson's summer house. United has an almost complete monopoly on space and slots at Newark Airport, and was forced by the pre-Sessions DOJ to make moves to avoid pissing all over anti-trust laws.
ONLY 283 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTIE IS MERELY A SHITTY SPORTS COMMENTATOR & NOT A FAKE GOVERNOR.
In my early twenties I ended up camping in he jungle of Chiapas Mexico.
I woke up in the middle of the night to these terrifying dinosaur sounds filling the forest around the lake. Scared the shit out of me until the next morning when I saw the tiny monkeys that made the noise. Damn howler monkeys

@josh the UK Daily Heil as always didn't fact check. The guy they wrote about was an entirely different Dr. I hope the real one sues them into oblivion.
Hi Ken, hi everyone. - Question for Ken -- I very much enjoyed your program of 3 hours of 'Institutionalized' covers. Any chance of a 3 hour program of Clarence Carter 'Strokin' covers?
@Cecile: you should contact Mr. Marty McSorley to see if you can still get in on his Drag Race fantasy league (or perhaps for side bets). You would clean up.
PRB, I am in that game.
I am not cleaning up, but I was out of town. I did win big on week 2. I'm not making side bets yet because this is my first season and I'm still not 100% comfortable with the rules and shit.
@FʶFʶ (: Alaska Thunderfuck on Drag Race. She and D-Tox and Roxy were called Rolaskatox and were very cliquey and condescending to eventual winner Jinkx Monsoon .
If you wanted to get Andy onboard you would've needed to involve poop or farts in some way.

i couldn't understand the intricacies of the one million dollar idea. But I'm keen to learn. So how is WfMU going to make a profit from the cartel of listeners?
By the way, probably the guy/girl that filmed the viral video will make a million dollars via the youtube adverts.
This set is the kind of music I imagine Ken will play in his show in his 70s.It has everything a baby boomer likes: Instrumentals, Glenn Miller, adult contemporary, covers of classics songs, World Music.
Non-sequitur & gripe of the day:
Anyone else think that belonging in the same dungeon with United Airlines reps are the writers of the terms and summary perspectives being tossed around in John Geils obits? ...such as "best known for the J. Geils Band's No. 1 hit, "Centerfold," That's their biggest-selling and highest charting, sure, but to claim "best known for" seems to give a dismissive and oversimplifying beatdown to huge important facts of band and public awareness history and drag those facts down the aisle of music history and eject them. Maybe it's another age-of-reporter thing, but
"best known for" is almost ALWAYS a bad choice.
Also, Peter Wolf was a regular at the record store I used to work at, and we'd always joke about whistling the riff from "Freeze Frame" as we wrote him up. Probably everyone who's worked in a record store in Boston in the past 30 years could tell you a few good Peter Wolf stories.

Mabye it depends on who you know but honestly the weirdest part of this set is that there is a gif for every song.
The id of hubris that propels WFMU is on naked display. And it turns me on. At least it's honest and not trying to fuck a russian teenage bride or something.
yeah, I'm the greatest at being my exact self. Not that it is anything anybody else should aspire to but indeed okasa. That spoken word bit was just hilarious, way to make all of us artists who think we are so bold at least, just step back for a second. If you really are all that this will be a pebble in your road.
nice groucho.. best I ever got was a copy of pinkerton by weezer. I don't even know what you are talking about, so that's cool :) :) google it in a second.

Thank you, Ken, people! Great music, comments, GIFs! Till next episode. Take care!
I'm sure you could still request a song, bobo, just as I, under the terms of my consent decree with Ken, can still make a 3rd post on the comment list. This was it.
Wow! "Arauco tiene una pena" de Violeta Parra!!! Saludos to everyone desde Chile!
