I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

Good afternoon Mayuko and listeners
Avatar 12:02pm Mayuko:

Good afternoon, fred!
Avatar 12:06pm fred:

I like this Masayoshi Fujita track. I had checked his site before for concert dates, but he doesn't seem to play in Paris
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Gary:

Happy to be listening in live this afternoon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm listener james from westwood:

How do, Mayuko, fred, Gary and all!
  12:15pm Stepchild:

Hello Mayuko & all. Lovely day for it here!
Avatar 12:16pm Mayuko:

Hello, Gary, james, and Stepchild! Glad to have you all here!!!
  12:17pm WebHamster Henry:

Good afternoon Mayuko!
Avatar 12:17pm Mayuko:

@fred I thought he was based in Germany, so close to France! Someone should bring him over there.
Avatar 12:18pm Mayuko:

WebHam Henry! Welcome on board!
  12:19pm ike:

Avatar 12:21pm Mayuko:

Ike! You should have been here last week for the ice cream turf war. I'm sure you have insider ice cream informations. Or ice cream info in general, anyway.
Avatar 12:25pm Mayuko:

For those of you who didn't know Pat Waing (including myself,) this is what the instrument looks like that is playing this music right now 1.bp.blogspot.com...
Avatar 12:25pm fred:

Speaking of ice cream, did you find a real Mister Softee truck nearby after last week's show?
Avatar 12:28pm Mayuko:

No, instead, I saw the evil New York Ice Cream in Brooklyn! >:(
But I had middle eastern ice cream so all is good.
  12:29pm Rickwaukee:

Neal Peart would approve http://andrewolson.com/Neil_Peart/drums/images/drum-10_2012-8.jpg
Avatar 12:31pm fred:

So you still don't know who owns Jersey City... Someone should investigate
  12:34pm mzm:

Avatar 12:35pm Mayuko:

Haha! Neil Peart should not only approve but PLAY Pat Waing. I'm sure he can handle it!
Avatar 12:38pm Starwick:

Oh I just got here, but LOVED seeing Travis's Rachero parked at the parking deck! One of my favorites!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Gary:

Who did the beautiful Edward Hopper-y looking photos on the playlist?
Avatar 12:39pm Mayuko:

@fred Maybe I should ask Matt Warwick what ice cream truck is ruling Jersey City. He strikes me as a kind of person who knows about ice cream.

Hello mzm!!!
Avatar 12:40pm fred:

Wow, that's Colin Stetson? Not his usual sound... I love it
Avatar 12:41pm Mayuko:

Hello Starwick! No Paris Texas soundtrack today as I played it already in the past, haha, but wanted to borrow the feel from it. That's where the images came from, Gary!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm listener james from westwood:

Very much liking this Stetson, both this track and this artistic direction. I feel like this is off the soundtrack to some disturbing, dark, LA-filmed movie.
Avatar 12:46pm Mayuko:

@james that's like the best compliment!
Avatar 12:46pm fred:

I'm not on board with what Wolf Eyes are doing these days. I was even disappointed when I saw them earlier this year
  12:47pm Stepchild:

Good stuff right here!!
Avatar 12:50pm Mayuko:

oh, too bad fred. I somehow never got the feeling from them that I'd get what they're doing, so it was rather nice little surprise I enjoyed this album.

Glad you dig Stepchild!
  12:55pm Stepchild:

New name to me -- I need to remember. And all the early part of the set was unknown to me & the perfect supplement to a gamelan jag I've been on at home...
Avatar 12:55pm fred:

Well, that won't keep me from going to see them the next time they come here. They're usually great live, I won't let one letdown keep me away. Maybe they were unsettled by playing before Scorpion Violente
  12:59pm Jason Elbogen:

Hi All!
Avatar 12:59pm fred:

Jason! Any news about your possible return?
Avatar 1:00pm Jason Elbogen:

Hi Fred, I'm filling in early next month before I go to China.

oh Jason's here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm coelacanth∅:

(haha -despite it being a ford!)
  1:13pm mzm:

thought you'd come back on the summer schedule
Avatar 1:13pm fred:

I'm very happy that Kenzo is back. I'll listen to the first hour or so of his show, sleep then listen to the start of Olivia's show. Sound-collage Wednesdays should make for confusing Thursdays for me
Avatar 1:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Aww, how sweet of you, @fred and @Gary!
Details here as they emerge: lastever.org
Avatar 1:17pm Mayuko:

Jason! boo! I was hoping I could do mic breaks with you for the next couple weeks.
Avatar 1:19pm Mayuko:

@fred Sag Harbor in the Hamptons was where I went! There's wildlife refuge there. I was absolutely the only one human there for a couple of hours.
Avatar 1:20pm fred:

@Kenzo: I guess I'm being greedy there but I'd love to catch a live show again. Any plans to come back to Paris?
Avatar 1:22pm Mayuko:

coelacanth∅, thanks for tuning in! I love these images from the film too!

& Kenzo!! Glad you're here!!! Sadly Wednesdays are working day for me, but I'll listen in the archives!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm listener james from westwood:

Crescent is new to me and I dig this track lot!
  1:24pm Jesse k:

Latecomer hi hi!
Avatar 1:25pm fred:

@Mayuko: Colson Whitehead is my favorite living writer these days. There are parts of Sag Harbor (the book) I didn't quite get, but knowing the place probably makes a difference
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good afternoon, Drummerfolk. Enjoyed that Thelma Soares track.
Avatar 1:33pm Mayuko:

I did't know Crescent either james and glad you enjoyed it! Hola Jesse!!!

@fred Now that I know what Sag Harbor is like, maybe I can understand easier and enjoy that book too!
Avatar 1:34pm Mayuko:

Hi Ken! Thanks for tuning in!!
Avatar 1:35pm Mayuko:

Is it just me or does this song sounds like Suicide? Cheree?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Ike:

Insider info about ice cream trucks? No dice. Well, I once tasted great blueberry ice cream from the Milk Sugar Love truck in JC. (I thought nothing blueberry-flavored could ever taste good. Usually that flavoring tastes very very artificial.) But I don't know where that truck is usually located or when it comes out. I'll have to go check out MSL's brick-and-mortar location sometime.
Avatar 1:41pm Mayuko:

Rickwaukee@1:08 give the drama radio IS pretty much what I do, haha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Ike:

Also I hate the Mr. Softee trucks in Sunset Park. Loud loud loud. So loud. They drill that jingle into my brain.
Avatar 1:43pm Mayuko:

There! I knew you know, Ike! The Milk Sugar Love truck in JC!! So this area might be THEIR turf!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Ike:

I only saw them once, though. If it's their turf, they're not patrolling it enough! They need to get out there more often and beat up Mr. Softee to show him who's boss! Instead they just have superior artisanal flavors. That's not enough bossiness.
Avatar 1:45pm fred:

A third side in the turf war! This is getting interesting
  1:45pm WebHamster Henry:

I like scratches!
Avatar 1:50pm Mayuko:

@Ike Mr softees ARE beaten up in Manhattan! And the one that was loud in Sunset Park, as far as I know, was Pop Goes The Weasel Ice Cream Truck. A listener told me they also harassed an orchestra playing Mahler at Carnegie Hall!
Avatar 1:51pm Mayuko:

but yes, superior quality never seem to help sadly, haha!!
Avatar 1:54pm Mayuko:

This is my last track today - thank you all for listening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Ike:

You mean they actually play "Pop Goes the Weasel"? I haven't heard those here in the lower 40s or upper 30s around 5th Ave. in SP. Just the usual old old tune that drives me nuts. Not the jaunty newer tune that they use in Newark NJ either.

Did you know you can report them for being loud jerks in NYC?! www1.nyc.gov...
  1:56pm Rickwaukee:

A heat bubble is arriving here in the midwest and is expected to stay for 4 days - should be slowly moving into the east - if anyone wants to go to the Hamptons and "act out" something I'd be happy to join you. Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm listener james from westwood:

Whoa, how did that show go so quickly? Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Ike:

This one! I hate it so much! ARRRGH! It's everywhere!

Thanks Mayuko, great show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm coelacanth∅:

Mayuko, i appreciate that image from a photography standpoint, but i'm curious...what film is it from?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Ike:

("...unrelenting demonic jingle":
www.dnainfo.com... )
Avatar 1:59pm fred:

Looks like MSL are not that far, 19 McWilliams Place. Might be worth a stop.
I like what I heard from this Sakamoto record, but I feel I should get it and listen to it by myself, outside. I do get your Heartbeat reference
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Gary:

Thanks, Mayuko!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Mayuko!
Avatar 2:01pm Mayuko:

@coelacanth∅ It's from Paris, Texas.
Avatar 2:02pm Mayuko:

Damn! then Pop Goes the Weasel guys might have started to cause some war with Mister Softee down there too! Saw them a couple of weeks ago there!
Avatar 2:03pm Mayuko:

Anyhow, thanks again for listening!! I'll see you next week!
