DDDJJJ666:

Fairport Convention opened.

Yes, but several years earlier, just as the Beatles on Ed Sullivan were then the opening act for U2's November '87 shows in LA.

  12:53pm

Checked old LA Times. Turns out they did not appear in Aug. '77 as scheduled, because the Hillside Strangler case was in the news. They made their LA debut at The Starwood almost a year later in July '78. Reviewer doesn't mention opening act, but writes, "This sudden display of good taste must have surprised some people who'd heard the band's music, which abounds with horrific, revolutionary, sexist and other grossly (and purposefully) offensive themes."

I think the Rolling Stones need to make an album called Gorsuch Head Soup.
  1:03pm
Dean:

Wait a minute. That LAT reviewer can't be right, because the Hillside Strangler(s) serial killings didn't begin until Oct. '77. Very puzzling...
Avatar 1:04pm
DDDJJJ666:

Ya know, I have never seen The Stranglers and the Hillside Strangler in the same room at the same time...
Avatar 1:07pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm

did you check in with them to see if they have found what they were looking for?
  1:29pm
Dean:

Please clarify that last band's name. Is it a reference to faces that measure ten feet, or to a couple handfuls of foot-faces? If the latter, what's a foot-face?
Avatar 1:31pm
glenn:

a foot faces the floor. or the wall, if you're horizontal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm
JtotheK:

if the former, then were they bragging/showing up the small faces? (really rubbing their faces in it!)
Avatar 1:32pm
DDDJJJ666:

A foot face is a measure which is used to measure the number of feet that can fit in a foot fetishist's face. Ten is impressive.
Avatar 1:33pm
DDDJJJ666:

BTW, 10 Foot Faces=1 Itchycoo Park
