I forgot about the opening lines of this song. Trying to imagine Joni Mitchell urinating in a parking lot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm chris:

caw! er, hello.
  7:06pm gd0:

You ARE gonna play the Super Chicken theme song, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Kat in Chicago:

Somehow this is exactly what I want to hear right now
  7:08pm Dean:

Guru Guru, "Chicken Rock"
Avatar 7:09pm Dan Bodah:

Hi all! Loads of critters on deck for you tonight. Happy to hear your suggestions for more -- if I don't get to them tonight, I might another week soon,
Avatar 7:09pm Dan Bodah:

I'm looking specifically for music with human voices imitating animals or insects or fish or birds or water bears or whatnot
Avatar 7:15pm geezerette:

This is great! Yippie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Michael 98145:

Does "Werewolves Of London" count?
  7:17pm cat:

yes yippie!
Avatar 7:17pm geezerette:

  7:18pm cat:

i was down in a hen house on my knees/ i thought i heard a chicken sneeze/ it was only a rooster sayin his prayers/ thankin his god for the hens upstairs
  7:20pm ?:

i once was stealing a chicken to eat and the farmer almost caught me, but i said "aint nobody here but us chickens" and the farmer believed me. he was dumb as hell
  7:23pm JakeGould:

Good show. And for those who like comedy, Trump just tweeted this in the last hour, “A great day at the White House!”
Avatar 7:24pm geezerette:

!!! :D He's nuts.
  7:24pm xtine:

fantastic show!
  7:24pm xtine:

hi Dan!!!
Avatar 7:24pm Dan Bodah:

They could use some chickens in the White House
Avatar 7:24pm Dan Bodah:

Hi Xtine!!
Avatar 7:25pm geezerette:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Kat in Chicago:

Chickens couldn't do worse at this point.
  7:26pm Dean:

I was thinking of medieval and Renaissance imitations, e.g., Janequin, mentioned in the article.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm chris:

true fact, chickens are already in the whitehouse. today's tweet is the proof of the improvement over the trial run which resulted in 'covfefe' being sent out
  7:27pm JakeGould:

I’ve seen chickens play tic-tac-toe. They are ready to make hard decisions.
Avatar 7:27pm geezerette:

Kurt Schwitters Choral Society.
Avatar 7:27pm Dan Bodah:

@Dean -- thanks for the link! I have a couple of Renaissance/early music pieces lines up
Avatar 7:29pm Froggie:

Thanks for Hey Bulldog!
Avatar 7:29pm geezerette:

I'd like to see the wardrobe.
Avatar 7:29pm steve:

wow now this is a find right here
  7:29pm JakeGould:

I don’t believe you are playing the Fox song.
  7:30pm rw:

Holy cow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 7:31pm Dan Bodah:

My only regret is that Gangam Style has no animal imitations in it
  7:32pm JakeGould:

@Dan: Your regret… My blessing…
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Kat in Chicago:

I am unclear as to how and why that last recording exists
  7:33pm Dean:

Who let the dogs out?
  7:33pm JakeGould:

The same person who stole the cookie from the cookie jar.
  7:34pm Dean:

Peanut, peanut butter, jelly jelly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm mcginniwa:

"What does the Fox say" is pretty great satire of current pop song writing. It emulates the form perfectly while subverting it with absurd subject matter. I.e. you can have a "hit" about nothing at all if you paint by these numbers.
  7:39pm JakeGould:

Whatever the fox says is… I’m tired… So tired… My soul… Tired… So… Tired…
Avatar 7:40pm Jeff:

I was totally stoked to hear "What Does the Fox Say?" on WFMU. It's pleasingly crazed, and makes me smile.

I remember hearing it back when it was A Thing, although unsurprisingly the way I found out about it was that it was such a sensation in whatever world it existed in that parodies started being created which in turn leaked into my world...
  7:40pm JakeGould:

@Jeff: So did Weird Al do a parody that was like, “What does Fox news say?”
Avatar 7:41pm Jeff:

@Jake: I hope not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Michael 98145:

what Jeff said
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Kat in Chicago:

That was a hit?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm mcginniwa:

On the subject of life before Google:

I've really really loved that Chuck & Beans comic on the subject ever since I first saw it. It's perfect.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm mcginniwa:

P.S. I hate it when my brain drops a piece of vocabulary. Obviously "parody" is more accurate than "satire of form". Sheesh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm dale:

fun show! hello shirly - this is squirelly. 10-4!
  7:50pm JakeGould:

Parody means nothing in the age of Trump. Could Aaron Sorkin’s overwrought mind have come up with DA MOOCH?
Avatar 7:51pm Jeff:

@mcginniwa: I have blank spots in sentences where I know there's an exactly right word which isn't immediately coming to me all the time. Sometimes I google for synonyms to an almost-right word. In fact, I did it just then to get parody.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm mcginniwa:

Speaking of DA MOOCH, my nomination for Weird Al song is "What does DA MOOCH say?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Richard S:

DA MOOCH says "I'm outta here!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Kat in Chicago:

OMG if Olga P visited the station Ken would plotz
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm mcginniwa:

@Jeff I would say something deeply meaningful and informed, but I can remember the word right now ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm mcginniwa:

Avatar 7:54pm Jeff:

Sorkin's Mooch would be completely unlike the real one - using words which went together much better and came in long fast strings in one take.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm Richard S:

More like Joe "Goodfellas" Pesci
  7:54pm JakeGould:

@Jeff: And it would all be boring, tedious and yet go on for 6 more episodes than needed.
  7:55pm JakeGould:

Look folks, let’s ease off of this guy… HE’S ONLY HUMAN!!!!
Avatar 7:57pm Jeff:

@JakeGould: them's fighting words. If you don't recognize and laud Sorkin's absolute mastery of the the art of writing dialogue, I will toss you out a window after poking you in one or more eyes.
  7:58pm JakeGould:

Poke as many eyes as you wish… As long as they are not mine, I could care less!
  8:00pm JakeGould:

Aaron Sorkin, Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams stuck in an elevator. Now that would be something!
