Happy 31st, Irene. You are a biiiig part of wfmu and we are lucky you're there! re yr excellent Philip Lewin show, he said he was #359 in the draft. As Jane Jacobs name ran thru my head just now, she had to move to Canada w her husband and teen son. Reason? She didn't want her son drafted into the Vietnam war. Our loss, Canada's gain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm

Thanks Herb! All you listeners are a big part of WFMU for me too.

Happy Halloween!!
Good music Irene!!
  10:14pm
Marc15:

Both of the Dark Shadows Movies did not really hold up when compared with the outstanding television series
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm
Irene Trudel:

Thank you, luntya! And Marc, I totally agree. That show was so important to me as a kid. So much so that my parents punished me for something by banning me from watching for a whole week! It was torture!!!

Can someone refresh my memory? What happened in Martinique? Did they get a bad sunburn? Maybe what happens there, stays there?
Avatar 10:20pm
Number 666:

I actually liked both of those movies. Even liked the remake with Ben Cross. But that Tim Burton atrocity...one of the WORST FILMS EVER. I wonder if he had even seen the original.

I watched “Dark Shadows” in the 1980s when NJN aired the Series
  10:38pm
Marc15:

The Tim Burton movie was literally unwatchable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I wonder if the TV audience of today would have the attention span to watch the original Dark Shadows episodes.
  10:41pm
Marc15:

The affair on Martinique was assumed. It was not a seen
  10:43pm
Marc15:

Later in the series Barnabas and Angelique reconcile in the present day Timeline and actually hug.
  10:43pm
Peter K.:

Greetings from the maw! Barnabas Collins rules!
Avatar 10:47pm
YesthatMattHall:

Angelique turned Barnabas into a vampire after he rejected her for the fair Josette, who threw herself off Widow's Hill in 1787 but was reincarnated as Victoria Winters. Which is how all the trouble starts.
Avatar 10:48pm
Number 666:

Sometime in the '80s some school in Manhattan did a live version of the show. Generally bad acting by a bunch of college kids, but they presented the 1795 flashback as a dance with only music from the show. It ended up being extremely well done!
  10:49pm
Marc15:

“My name is Victoria Winters ...” began so many opening monologues

Hi Irene and folks
Avatar 10:52pm
YesthatMattHall:

It was intended to start them all but then they realized they'd have to pay Alexandra von Moltke even when she wasn't in the episode. After that, it was always done by someone in the studio that day.

Forgive me-- I know wayyyyy too much about DS. Long story-- see the avatar pic (my mom and dad).

pantz:

So glad I finally made it to your Halloween show, Irene!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:59pm
Irene Trudel:

Ken, you could be right. However "The Walking Dead/Fear the Walking Dead" have the same soap opera-like qualities in which you have to keep watching every week because you are sucked in. YesthatMatt, Josette actually became Maggie. Victoria Winters had traveled back in time to 1795 but was from the present day. Number 666, that school version sounds bizarre. Does footage exist?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm
Irene Trudel:

Oh, of course, Matt! I forgot Grayson Hall was your mom.

Wow, Irene - 31 years! Congratulations!
Avatar 11:02pm
YesthatMattHall:

You're right! It WAS Maggie. I actually worked on the '91 show. Which was a fairly terrible experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm
Irene Trudel:

Sorry Matt. Glad I missed the remake. We're doomed to repeat the past and it's usually never good.

HI Irene!!! Wow!!! I saw Bloodrock live back in the early 1970's and I think Mountain was on the same bill with another band. Awesome concert. Bloodrock was great! Leslie West was totally amazing-broke two strings and continued to rock on!!! Great days!

Wow, what a great "sludge-rock" memory Steve! THere were quite a few bands like that in the early 70's, heavy but not quite metal.
