I always loved AMM's music, but anecdotes about them, and an email exchange I had w/ John Tilbury reveals them to be a wee bit stuffy. But, I'll take it, as long as it sounds brilliant!

Fabio, I liked it but it! But it doesn't matter if we don't, because this is free form radio and we need to hear all the obscure, avant garde, experimental, wild, weird sonics.

I thought spring breakers was great for a lot of reasons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm
The Oscar:

I saw Spring Breakers in a strip mall theater near the town I grew up in central Mass. As the lights went up, I heard two teenagers on opposite sides of the theater simultaneously say "That was the worst movie I've ever seen!" and "That was the best movie I've ever seen!"

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm
The Oscar:

I also saw Harmony Korine introduce Trash Humpers at the Harvard Film Archive a couple years back. In the Q&A, one guy asked him what it was like directing his daughter in Spring Breakers... not realizing the actress is actually his wife.

@tommy in neversink - is that the one with henry fonda as a murderous douche (GREAT casting!) and the man with a harmonica theme?
Avatar 4:28pm
northguineahills:

@dale: he was addressing how banks and other institutions that have face-to-face customer interactions no longer use titles (mr/ms/etc) and are instructed to talk to everyone on a first name basis b/c marketing research shows that a more casual atmosphere shows that people will be more relaxed and trust said institution.

If i could, i would very simply redo the lobby of AFA--I would paint it cream and have the whole wall by the entrance/exit painted like an exit sign. And I would line the walls with sturdy chairs.
  4:34pm
NanoT:

come on afa, provide a little resting pond for the film freaks.
  4:34pm
J Dream:

Too late to chime in on this but I sorta think Spring Breakers is Korine's worst film. I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but that film was incredibly flaccid and dull for him.
  4:35pm
J Dream:

I guess they all try to make a Hollywood film at some point... they're usually pretty bad
