Listener comments!
🥁 9:03am : Hello Bob and bobettes9:03am : Morning Bob. Great opener with Duncan Browne9:05am : hello everyone. this song it's a fantastic continuum from SP. and an amazing song too.🥁 9:05am : Mornin' Bob and all. Sunny Murray RIP9:06am : Mornin' bb & crew... 8-)9:09am : Maybe I should listen more to Shrunken Planet, anerandos. In the past year I've often woken up earlier than I want, and wind up listening to SP, but usually I wake up later and tune in Jerry Hickey's infomercial -- professional interest.9:10am : Denny Laine in between the Moodies and Wings. Seldom heard in the mainstream.9:11am : Good Morning Bob & All Listeners. Hey There JD! How Ya Doing?9:13am : Thanks for playing Denny Laine, Bob. Good stuff & as mentioned by Dan, rarely (if ever) heard.9:14am : Listener Robert, SP is the place on the Internet where morning people and late people (like me) from all over the world meet :P Definitely my fav show on wfmu.9:15am : speaking of Denny Laine> https://www.ebay.com/itm/NIGHTBIRD-COMPANY-2-LP-DENNY-LAINE-JOHN-LODGE-ROY-BUCHANAN-FREE-U-S-SHIPPING/172556960172?hash=item282d3241ac:g:PqAAAOSwDrNZRAvy9:15am : Moring all. Wm from D: Very bummed to hear about Sonny Murray9:15am : oh gosh... SPAM on wfmu chat?!?!?9:16am : hi everyone!9:16am : See, even with archives and so on, the lead-in is still important. I was just thinking about when I was visiting out here (where I live now, WMFU reception-land, then WHDC) 20 yrs.ago, sitting in my car in their driveway and inviting my friends' then 9 YO son Drew to "lower his musical taste) on a Wed. afternoon by listening to Irwin's Incorrect Music hour. Then Bob Brainen's opening theme (same as now) came on, and Drew laughed at the xylophone bits. See, the lead-in programming primed him to find whatever came next as funny.9:18am : You mean Sunny. The piece I sent before is not spam, but a US military release of some interviews with musicians being sold on ebay. Chill.9:18am : Nice story, Robert.9:18am : Apologies.9:19am : I had to look this band up. It's fronted by Col. Bruce Hampton, who sadly dropped dead at his own 70th birthday gala.9:20am : Thanks for the Col. Bruce Bob!9:20am : Hank & Tim is my favorite opener.9:22am : My favorite kind of Peanuts special, is where it's dubbed by ebonics.🥁 9:23am : I hate Christmas music. Bah Humbug. But I like this Vince Guaraldi cut.9:24am : @duke, What about Father Christmas by The Kinks?🥁 9:26am : ANYTHING by the Kinks is OK with me. I just hate the stuff that plays in stores from Thanksgiving until Christmas.9:28am : @duke The worse is Bruce Springsteen doing Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, but I'm saying that because I HATE Bruce Springsteen.9:30am : Rockin' this here joint, wake and bake, babies!9:30am : Guy only knows one solo, apparently.9:32am : Vince Guaraldi is excellent xmas music.9:32am : Just noticed, though, that this predates "Rock Around The Clock." It's proto, man!9:34am : @melinda, Vince Guaraldi is great music, but unfortunately it compliments the dullest animation specials of all time.🥁 9:39am : Is it just me or has FMU's signal gone kaplooie?9:41am : no signal 91.1 FM9:41am : Tiny Tim, Miriam Makeba, Dick Shawn, Johnny "Guitat" Watson, Tommy Cooper, Rebop Kwaku Baah and Zero Mostel all died in the company of their audiences.9:41am : KEN!9:42am : Sonny Murray died. Arrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhhh!!!!!!9:43am : No signal here on 91.1 either9:44am : 91.1 signal is fine, but there's no audio on it.9:44am : @dan I haven't seen the specials since I was a kid, and I liked them back then, but I don't know if they would hold up. The music really helped.9:44am : Sunny, not Sonny.🥁 9:46am : On the soundtrack for New York Eye And Ear Control he's listed as Sonny Murray9:46am : what happened to the sound (signal)?? Not hearing anything.9:47am : @duke: I actually have that album on vinyl.9:47am : Perhaps the line to the 91.1 transmitter is down.9:48am : You should play Traffic's "Berkshire Poppies", all of the Small Faces' do the backup vocals.9:49am : NY Ear and I are wrong.9:49am : Hey Doc, late night - listening and sleeping at same time9:49am : There ought to be a phone number or text number to contact and inform the station about outages in case the DJ isn't monitoring the board.9:50am : my house is very quiet9:50am : email Ken station manager and tell him the signal is out.9:50am : now I want to look how he's spelled on other albums (I believe remember reading that's it's been listed as both), but my vinyl is still in boxes. Hopefully cds will be out by next weekend and the vinyl by January,9:54am : 91.1 Off the air - THANKS we're workin' on it!
Anyone listening on 91.9?🥁 9:54am : It's Sunny. Anything otherwise is incorrect.9:55am : I already said that, they don't want to believe.9:58am : It’s Cloudy. In fact, it’s snowing!9:58am : www.discogs.com...🥁 9:59am : Albert finally has his favorite drummer back!9:59am : 91.1 is silent.10:00am : bb: How about some Otis on this the day before the anniversary of his death.. He passed on a snowy day just like today about 80 miles from me in Madison,WI. RIP Mr. Soul..10:01am : The version I have of Ghosts has Milford Graves on percussion (but it was the first rerelease, not the 50th anniversary edition).10:02am : 91.9 also no sound.🥁 10:02am : On discogs, the album cover has it wrong, but the personnel listing has it right.10:04am : 91.9 has crickets as well.10:07am : Damn, Sunny Murray gone!10:08am : 91.1 back on !10:08am : Back on the air in south Brooklyn! Morning all! Thanks Ken!10:08am : For further confusion, there's Sonny Blount (the o would change to a u in a way).10:10am : The snowpocalypse knocked out our T1 audio circuit so we are now broadcasting the MP3 stream.. 91.1 and 91.9 should both be back up, with worse audio than usual. Thanks for the reports everybody.🥁 10:11am : I can't watch the Sullivan reruns. Why can't they just show entire episodes?10:12am : It's George Young. He passed away the month before Malcolm.10:13am : Alexander Young was another sibling who was in music. His band Grapefruit was on the Apple label.🥁 10:18am : What about the Sun Ra meets Blues Project doing Batman inspired music knock-off LP?10:18am : I can still hear ya Bob!10:19am : Luciano Pavarotti + U2?!!10:19am : ...and it's sounding really good.10:20am : @Don Rock. Pavarotti and Bono. Talk about the great meeting the humdrum.10:21am : Happy Snow Day, Bob and all!10:21am : I forgot about Boulders!10:22am : So that's where the sound at the beginning of Wings' Silly Love Songs came from - Manfred Mann's Machines!10:22am : From Paul Jones to Mike D'Abo. Personally, I'm more of a fan of the former.10:23am : @WilliamfromDumont: That was a fun album. I liked how Liz Berg used it for bed music.10:25am : good morning fellow BB and everyone!10:30am : Thanks Ken!10:33am : Morning folks!10:37am : 91.1fm is good in lower NYC10:39am : Certain Women is my DVD for tonight!10:42am : Graham Gouldman is Ringo's new bassist in the All Starr Band10:43am : Small as it is, NJ is still very diverse. I'm now in a rural part where skies can get very starry. Soooo pretty. Only now I'm about to be homeless -- well, have to make a new arrangement now that listener Steve (housemate the past yr.) is in hospice following a stroke. I think his daughter gave him no other choice than institutionalization, even though his condition is not that bad, but without resuming hemodialysis he will die. He wanted to return home, but she has power of attorney.10:43am : Love the Brian Jones work. Great idea to feature him in near future.10:44am : Weather report from Dutchess County: Snowfall has commenced.10:45am : Dug that Reason to Cry, who's the writer?10:46am : The opening to “I Fell” sounded like it was going to be Laura Nyro doing “Stoney End” or something10:52am : I swear I thought this was a man singing. I knew Joni Mitchell wrote the song, just didn't know it was her voice.10:52am : Perfectly soundtracking this snowfall! I'm busy staring out the window while my veggie sausages are burning…10:54am : hey, we could use more choral music on fmu! Thanks for this, Bob.10:55am : i loooooove choral music10:55am : Next week or by Christmas Bob, you should play Steeleye Span's "Gaudete", a perfect song for the Christmas holiday.10:57am : I'm looking forward to snow later today.🥁 11:00am : Thanks Bob. Great show11:01am : The choral piece was pretty good, despite the lack of cowbell.11:27am : Los Straitjackets were amazing last night. Nick Lowe looks and sounds great as well.2:33pm : Great show, Bob. Your shows have become an important part of my weekend--I am always a little sad when the end. And I love to hear your take on different musicians, like Elvis. It's a beautiful snowy day. Thanks, man!
