I was just happy I got to wear my winter jacket the last two mornings. (it got down to -2C the last two nights) (it's already 75F/24C)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
David D:

Yes that is particularly unusual for the UK (correct me if I'm wrong). Not nearly as cold here - yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
David D:

Hold on -2C in Florida as well? What's going on?
Avatar 4:49pm
northguineahills:

Yep. It usually doesn't get that cold here until mid-january and maybe 5-7 nights per winter. But I'm equidistant from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic, and a staggering 60m above sea level, so, we don't get the moderating influences of the the ocean. So, very occasionally, we get cold nights w/ mild afternoons in the winter. (although yesterday the high was only 14C)

It was exceptionally cold last night. The chickens water was frozen. I had the pleasure of walking Spencer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
Sem:

I'd be happy to send you along a nice toque, and pronounce you an honourary Canuck. Walking the dog regardless of the weather...now THAT's Canadian, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm
David D:

Hot chocolate sounds like a good choice. Lots of people here drink mulled wine (Glühwein).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm
David D:

How are the chickens coping?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:16pm
Brian in UK:

Looking forward to country walks on Wenlock Edge.
Long time since I heard Dando Shaft.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm
David D:

Here's someone who surely has a decent toque.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm
Stanley:

David, I had a drink called Glühkriek the other day. Do you know it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm
David D:

Glüh sounds German but Kriek is more Dutch, I think. Could be from the border?

David, after the clocks change there is always a hiatus in laying. They are slowing returning one by one. You can tell by the size of the eggs
As for the weather, they are suitably protected in the hutch and about themselves..
Avatar 5:21pm
northguineahills:

I know what ingredients I'm going to get at the store after work to make, Glühwein!!!! (my fave winter drink!!! )(and it reminds me of Berlin).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
Stanley:

It was a warm cherry beer. Very comforting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
David D:

Sounds like a plan! There may be a few drops left in the Radio Blau kitchen in fact but I may have to settle for what's in the fridge.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm
Sem:

A winter warmer in this part of the country is moose milk, kind of a stripped back eggnog affair. Heavy on the heavy cream, and heavier still on a rum with some sweetness to it. Often, it is the Newfoundland tipple called Screech.
Avatar 5:24pm
northguineahills:

Antoine Dufour, new to me a digworthy, and now Steeleye Span!

Brian in UK:

Stanley, do you remember Young's Winter Warmer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm
Sem:

I note Mr. Dufour is from L'Épiphanie, Quebec, in the Laurentian Mountains north of Montreal. The man for sure has a major league toque.
Avatar 5:29pm

I got to wear a toque last night for the first time in over a year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm
Sem:

Stanley! Bomb shelter, STAT!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm
David D:

There is a new Glühbier brew in the shops here now. Some sort of experiment I will certainly have to sample myself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm

Sem - fortunately David warned me in advance and I had time to put my special silver foil protective headgear on.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
Sem:

I thought this was going to be the live New York version, which I think features Ms. Ono is full vocal flight. But good you had the correct prophylactic close to hand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
David D:

Yes, I issue intuitive warnings. You can all remove your headgear again now. Except for the toques of course.

The only Beatles single I bought was The Ballad of John and Yoko. I thought it showed enough wit to laugh at himself.
