Tardy to the party but this is fantastic...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm

Somewhat on the early side for this show. Glad you're enjoying the party!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm
Threemoons:

I know, Pseu announced it during her show, and I'm able to tune in from work today (hooray busted firewall) so I had to take advantage! :D

I would put that accordion in my space just as a pleasing-to-look-at-and-of-wonderful-character item.

Cool, try to catch some between getting work done.

Hello, David, Subway riders, standers, lie-ers down.

Of course it's a verb!

ie:

US: "Iraq, I'm going to freedom the shit out of ya!"
Avatar 4:23pm

das hab ich gestern auch in aktuell gespielt...very nice...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm

NGH: That is a good point!

Jerzy Kosinski ... we read it in High School!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
Webhamster Henry:

I like the newness of the subjects! I'm a big Brecht/Eisler fan.

Got a #MeToo song yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm
doctorjazz:

This is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Webhamster Henry:

I've got two protest songs like this, but they are more in the marching band anthem school of parody.
Avatar 4:35pm
northguineahills:

I miss the klezmer brunches at Orchard St's Tonic.

NorthGuinea--ditto; alas only went once a zillion years ago...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm

This sounds good in Yiddish; a nice mesh with your usual eastern European covers of US pop songs!
Avatar 4:48pm

My bad, Tonic was on Norfolk, I lived there for my first few months in NYC, I should have remembered.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm

Love the sound of live broadcasts of music (the audiophile nerd in me coming out).
Wish my Yiddish was better...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm
Webhamster Henry:

I just pretend it's SchwietserDüuetsch mispronounced.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
David D:

Glad it sounds good on the airwaves - they are a fantastic live band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
doctorjazz:

It really does sound great! I love records/cds and all that, but these direct broadcasts just have an oomph that's hard to get on a recording.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
David D:

I've heard so many people describe Yiddish as sounding like their own German dialects - sort of a Rorschach test.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm
Stanley:

Wish Daniel was coming to Scotland
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm
doctorjazz:

When will he be in the NY area? (come and go, may have missed it...)

This music makes me want to read (or hear) the Anarchist's Convention (John Sayles; it was read at Symphony Space's Selected Shorts by Jerry Stiller www.youtube.com...)

absolutely great...jewish anarchist tradition is still alive...

I'm really taking my lunch siestas later and later (don't actually nap). Just got back to the office.
Avatar 5:18pm
northguineahills:

Always liked this Toure/Diabate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm
David D:

It is good to get a break or quiet time even if it isn't a nap. Otherwise you might have a map-nap.
Avatar 5:23pm
northguineahills:

@David: You don't even want to know the conceptual GIS dreams I already have. Taking a long break allows me to work longer hours. If all goes well, I can start to slim down to 40 hours and I can hire someone to help w/ the mapping (although we'd have to find a new office first, there's barely room for three people.)

Meic Stevens! Doug introduced me to him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
David D:

Yes, thanks for the link Henry, that looks interesting. I'm just catching up upthread...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm

@Stanley and @David this story is just great, like a lot of John Sayles' work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm

hahaha.from the palmer report -
It turns out Trump violated campaign finance laws with the method he used for paying the $130,000 to Stormy Daniels. Now a criminal complaint has been filed against him by an activist group called Common Cause (link), and we’ve learned from past sex-and-hush-money scandals that this is where it gets ugly for him.
