Yes! I used to have this binaural mic-in-the headphone walkman and I liked to walk around taking in the street with it. I still have the headphone/mics, but nothing to plug it into!
I didn't mean to stumble into this protest, but I was there on vacation and my friends were all involved with it! I have tape of riding the bus to the occupation site, and a little Christmas play they did in a barn there.
It was a big deal in Austria, and probably not reported on in the US at all!
And the previous time I was in Vienna, that Zwentendorf protest, mentioned in that Wikipedia article, was in full swing too. I guess I'm one of those foreign rabble-rousers.
I was also involved with this sound project, Protest and Politics last year, in case you want to hear more sound art and protesting: citiesandmemory.com...
@Jesse I'll see what else I have - I think they all survived the great purge of 2010.
I know I have one of me buying a chair in Tribeca. Maybe a little too narrative for this show, but I think there's a long section walking to the store.
@Kenzo, rats! I wrote that down to listen to but totally spaced it after the show, I kind of go blank for a little bit and I forgot. Definitely remembering for tomorrow :/
maybe! but i am sorry i missed your recordings. i was working and it wasn't worth it to try at the time. i'll check it out though, when i'm home, over the weekend.
I'll be doing ... something .. with Craig Chin www.errant.space...
at the Cuneen-Hackett Center, 9 Vassar St, Poughkeepsie, Mar 29 7PM
Part of the Cocoon Theatre Soirees-in-the-Parlor series.
I'll be back there in April with WFMU fave Brian Dewan.
I'll get these in the Blast of Hot Air where appropriate!
Henry i record/create stuff that isn't worth hearing unless it's being fully listened to, (actually some aspects of it are essentially inaudible without headphones) so i greatly appreciate that that's what your recordings deserve. they will get that attention.
there's something i always thought strange. Jesse your avatar - when it cycles to lights off, the mouth seems to disappear, but when i pull it up the mouth does not appear to change!
Thanks, yes, I adopted Toasty from a shelter a couple of weeks ago. She's 10 months old. She seemed depressed at the shelter but now she's really perking up. Lots of purring and and running around!
as if on cue, my cat just came careening through the living room shrieking, and then nearly crashed into my banjo. i'd like to think she's congratulating you as well, haha!
@WH, full name: Burnt Toast. Toasty for short. At first I was going to go with Bernie for short, but she just doesn't look enough like Bernie Sanders for that.
...when we signed up for the talent show we said "the targets" and the lady said errr...how about "burnt toast"? we said no; how about "catalyst" and there it stood.
