it's going! came down with a bug yesterday, so i'm taking it easy and working from home today. something's been going around portland the last couple weeks, and i guess it was my turn. how are you?
It's good here, it snowed a surprise 3 inches or so last night so the bike commute was super slushy and salty and I was late both ways. Still feeling very crusty
hey northguineahills! for me, the secret behind any cold weather anything is gear. I just got these crazy mittens and now no more cold fingers at least down to 20 degrees
In NYC, I biked when it was 7F/-14C (the coldest I ever biked), and thankfully, I had a ski face wrap. Not sure if I'll ever face that again. w/ my glasses and hat under my helmet, I had no exposed skin.
Just fixed a coding/data format problem that's been plaguing me for almost 36 hours. I just went from homer attacking his grill w/ a sun umbrella to doing Ren & Stimpy's "Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy" dance. I can leave work at a same time, and will get to hit a global dance party (think /rupture). Will still be here for a wee bit.
Unfortunately I lost the info of who recorded that amazing maintenance work being done on spaghetti junction but here's a recording of someone making some spaghetti gorgonzola
Oh, and fuck Microsoft. I did an update this morning and none of my files were recognized (compounding other issues). I had to download/reboot four times before everything worked again. It makes no sense.
Jealous, Jaina. I want to make some puttanesca sauce w/ gnocchi this weekend. Too busy to make anything but tacos for brinner (well, maybe rice and beans tomorrow)
i've recorded lots of road work/ construction/building...i have several sd cards full of recordings and haven't touched my equipment since i moved, 1-1/2 years ago. every time i listen to this show i feel anxious!
i just finally got a new (used) amplifier hooked up 2 days ago and getting excited to resume. i have dozens of unfinished (?) pieces and hundreds of ideas spoken onto 1-2 dozen tapes.
...i sure hope my electricity can handle it where i live now, or i have to move again.
Hi Uncle Michael! Yeah, this is my alternate audio version of the state of the union so you can turn the tv on but the sound down and it should sync up
oh, interesting. i'm having an ocular migraine right now. just started in the far corner of my left eye. this music feels appropriate... i never get them with accompanying pain, so they're really cool experiences as long as i'm not driving or have something urgent to do.
At work, I just shut my eyes as often as possible (for some reason, WFMU in my earbuds doesn't exacerbate the headache). When it gets really bad, my head wants to explode and I just want to attempt to sleep (even if I'm not sleep deprived). Thankfully, I went a full 6 months w/o on. It might be psychosomatic related, as I'm usually under stress when it happens (I lost a friend last week).
been making dinner (pasta, of course) and all kinds of shit happened! sorry about everyone's migraines and ngh condolences (did i say that last week? well condolences again)
...i didn't know the what-the-fuck's-wrong-with-the-union address was tonight. i usually don't; i don't care.
i still have several fictional books on my to-read list - probably more entertaining and yet more believable.
actually gloomsday NOT sorry about yours! that's awesome that you find a constructive or entertaining purpose for your migraines. (as i do with my frequent "nightmares")
Thanks everyone. Keynard Meyers led a full life. I me him when he was recorded every show possible living in the projects of E NY. (he would shepard me from the subway to hangout). He had a closet of live recordings (floor to ceiling) and worked a Sam Goody. He got a gig recording the Venice Biennale for MOMA and met a Venetian girl there. Five years ago he moved there. He had cancer, and didn't reveal it until xmas, I hadn't seen him in person in almost 4 years. He was only two years my senior.
Jesse i never heard of that.
...i'm about to finish "the crossing" (i relegated that one to only reading when at the pub, and i haven't been drinking enough so it's taken a while)
i'm partway into several others too- some not fiction. one is: "war day" fiction based on a very real possibility.
ha coelacanth∅, i mean. might as well enjoy them if they're gonna happen no matter what, right? it's over now, by the way! at one point i was looking at my computer screen and couldn't see more than half of it. just totally cut out of my vision. the first time this happened i thought i was having a stroke. nope, just weird brain stuff. nightmares are a different story, though...
i'm not ready for NN to be over! :'( thank you, jesse.
NGH, you're in my thoughts, and i sincerely hope the pain of your loss eases as soon as humanly possible. losing people we care about is hard no matter the circumstances.
