Thousands of Yemeni migrants are stuck in Djibouti who thought they would get visas b/c they have family in the States. Of course, that's not happening. I have Yemeni friends in Brooklyn, and if I wasn't infuriated already..........................................

I had a classmate/coworker who was Greek who had his father's vinyl rebetika collection. He had no use for vinyl, and surprised I was enthusiastic about it, so he gave me a stack of rebetika vinyl. I'm still grateful.

Another item in an infinite litany of scheiße that is pissing me off is not only has Trump reduced the Census Bureau's budget by 80%, but he want them to ask if that participant is a citizen. That will royally fuck up any count, as the immigrant community won't participate (I worked for four years as a geographer for the Census Bureau)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:44pm
Gary:

Every move of the administration has been to destroy whatever exists
Avatar 8:46pm
tim abdellah:

@NGH - agreed. I didn't realize that he'd slashed that bureau's budget so drastically. I work in Affirmative Action/Equal Employment, and we rely on census data to produce our employment metrics for women and minorities. This is terrible news.
Avatar 8:46pm

@Gary - this set rules!

@Tim: As a former demographer, it's something I'm rather passionate about.
Avatar 8:56pm

@tim: from my conversations w/ my former colleagues, it looks like the 2016 Census est might be the last accurate one for the foreseeable future.
Avatar 8:58pm
Scraps deSelby:

there's still time for the dems to take power, before the census, and reverse that stupid (well, racist, really, it's not stupid) decision.

@NGH - geez. that's awful to hear.
Avatar 9:00pm
