This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Hi Doc!

Never seen any Lone Wolf and Cub. Immediately I think, though: if he’s got a Cub, Wolf is not Lone.

... but I've never reckoned well with that "upstate" means.
Would that be north of the geo center, Utica?

I mean, Albany seems way downstate to me.

Avatar 7:50pm

@βrian hah. i lived in Woodstock/Saugerties. As someone from Mass., i consider that "upstate". a lot of people from NY think that's ridiculous!
Avatar 7:52pm
northguineahills:

I always loved taking a day holiday to upstate Manahattan.
Avatar 7:52pm
βrian:

@hyde: Well, those people *are* ridiculous!

(But aren't we all?)
Avatar 7:52pm

i love this western too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm

These Dylan tunes "themes" always make me feel like he forgot to finish the song...
Avatar 7:54pm
hyde:

ACK! Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid is playing in 35mm here in May!
Avatar 7:55pm
Flash Strap:

I saw it on 35 myself at the Harvard film archive some years back
Avatar 7:55pm
βrian:

Now, if there were an "upstate" surcharge on all transactions upstate, I expect those boundaries might get mighty flexible.
Avatar 7:56pm
Flash Strap:

@doc: that unfinished, elliptical quality extends to the film & its editing as well, which is why i love it so much. it's like a western Satyricon in dream logic
Avatar 7:56pm
hyde:

@Flash i've only seen it on tv. may have to go to that.
Avatar 7:57pm
northguineahills:

Well, I live in north-central FL, it's not quite north FL, (Floridigia), and not quite central FL, (Orlando), so, it's stuck w/ this awkward moniker.
Avatar 7:58pm

@HFA have seen many a good western at HFA tho. I saw Budd Boetticher speak there one time.

Really digging everything. Any chance this show could be extended to...oh...16 hours in length?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm
melinda:

That sounded like we stumbled into the dance lounge of the interplanetary space ship.
  9:25pm
Dean:

It's pretty good, indeed. You should know, though, that it is in a progressive rock vein. It features none other than Bill Bruford, post-Yes, and Paul Fishman, who went on to form Men without Hats, who scored a hit with "Safety Dance." I remember buying the record at Cheapo Cheapo Records (on Rupert Street) in London in '76, when it was released. I wanted it purely for the Bruford connection. But it's enjoyable, and kinda weird as "concept" albums go.
