Postwar atmospherica. High bop modernism and Afro-Latin sounds, twilight exotica and soundtrack moods, soul stompers and weepers, hypnotic R&B and blues, mystical '60s pop, lonely country, lonelier rock 'n' roll, instrumental weirdness, electronic creaking. Bringing worlds beyond into the worlds at hand.

Botanical gardens are the preferred place for the woman and I when we're in a new or different city
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm JtotheK:

botanical gardens instead of area record stores? oh my!
  10:19pm zonk ludlow:

If you ever make it to Sydney one day would love to show you around ours. Truly spectacular, located on Sydney Harbour right near the Opera House. Lunch on me.
Avatar 10:20pm Little Danny:

Hey Jason! Yeah I honestly rarely go in record stores anymore. I just don't find stuff I want in them...

The Machin was most perfect for pb & strawberry on crackers while the rain falls outside and the night bridges one day of tax wrestling and another. Perfect for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm JtotheK:

hi geez! @danny - that webs 45 seems to be quiet in demand at the moment.

  10:50pm still b/p:

Rock in your socks!

I am the squash. IRS is the hard foot.
Avatar 10:52pm geezerette:

Danny, the jukebox in this establishment is infinite.
Avatar 10:53pm geezerette:

still b/p,DUCK!
Avatar 10:53pm northguineahills:

@coel: just the plant, it's still a sproutling (probably four in the mix).
Avatar 10:54pm Little Danny:

@geez: yep! I get a lot sucked into it myself
Avatar 10:55pm northguineahills:

Tomatoes already fruiting, should be ripe in 2 weeks. Tomatillos, 3 weeks, Chilies are flowering, so maybe 5 weeks. Everything else ???? (I've only done Brooklyn fire-escape nano-gardens before, this is new territory for my green thumb).
Avatar 10:59pm Little Danny:

Wow, NGH. You're way ahead of us here. We haven't even bought our tomato plants
Avatar 11:00pm coelacanth∅:

jeez, i'm still winter pruning. it's just about too late but it's rained or snowed every week for a few months. i haven't even thought about getting seeds yet.
...maybe i should relocate south.
Avatar 11:01pm northguineahills:

@b/p, the IRS is negotiable, the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance know no logic or mercy (turbotax effed up a decade ago, no records remaining, so a shitload of debt). "To the IRS, 'I paid x and should pay y" Them: *cool!*

. To NYS *response* "what is this math you speak of?*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm JtotheK:

happy birthday herbie!
Avatar 11:05pm northguineahills:

I'm not used to harvesting my herbs and plants (in NYC) until late September/early October. I should have my first harvest by early May. (In NYC I wouldn't even plant until late April).
Avatar 11:06pm northguineahills:

Thanks for the Herbie!
Avatar 11:07pm northguineahills:

I planted the seeds the second week of Feb.
  11:09pm still b/p:

Friends say I overdo the tax accuracy and concern about what’s reported, but I don’t evah evah want to be quilting and defending baloney or blurring things now when enforcement focus gets sharp later. What are the chances of a closer look by the lookers? Who knows, who knows.
Avatar 11:29pm coelacanth∅:

digging Elisa. i guess magik markers are no longer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Scraps deSelby:

b’rm b’rm
Avatar 11:30pm Little Danny:

@coel: I don't know about the status of the MMs. I prefer Elisa, honestly
Avatar 11:31pm Little Danny:

Hi Scraps! Now revving my musclehead Camaro next to you at the stoplight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33pm Scraps deSelby:

  11:34pm Dean:

Speaking of musclehead, Zeke recently released a new record after, what, fifteen years? The promo video is a series of clips of drag races, funny cars, etc., from the '60s or thereabouts. I am positively giddy. Bought the record AND the t-shirt today.
Avatar 11:34pm coelacanth∅:

i lost track of them. i was very into them when it was the 3 of them. weird, since Elisa was the wild and noisy one, but they calmed down to below my interest level after Leah left.
  11:34pm Dean:

And I'm not a t-shirt kinda guy, exceptions being WFMU, my kids' schools, and Zeke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Scraps deSelby:

I’m nervous when our hearts are about 50% bigger than our radios
  11:40pm Dean:

Heh, prior to tuning in at the outset of the last set, I toyed with playing Lyman instead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41pm Scraps deSelby:

My t-shirt collection is about 200 to 250 — maybe 300? — and 90% of them are Threadless. And the last five to ten years I haven’t bought more than twenty or so.
  11:43pm Dean:

To clarify: I wear t-shirts incessantly, but not ones with slogans/branding. I don't get the urge to express my convictions in the space of a bumper sticker. (Comments boards like this one work better, because I can ramble on. See, e.g., above.)
Avatar 11:43pm Little Danny:

Hi Dean! Zeke is new to me but I love vintage drag racing and hot rod footage. There's some good stuff on youtube
Avatar 11:44pm Little Danny:

Good lord Scraps. Where do you keep them all? And what's yer oldest tee?
  11:46pm Dean:

I adore Zeke, but to each his own. At least watch the video: https://relapse.com/zeke-hellbender/

I'm not into sports at all, but I've been to a few auto races, including drag races, which to my mind are the very pinnacle of athleticism. Huge amounts of money squandered on five or so seconds of action replete with total sensory overload.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47pm JtotheK:

disco illusion is nice...
Avatar 11:48pm Little Danny:

Thanks for the link Dean. And I feel pretty much the way you do
Avatar 11:49pm Little Danny:

@Jason: hideously rare disco from Trinidad! I do not own an original btw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm Scraps deSelby:

I keep most of them on bookshelves. I dont know what the oldest of them are; maybe thirty-five years? I wash them inside-out, which keeps them.

I have very few with words, mostly art.
Avatar 11:51pm coelacanth∅:

stillb/p @11.09 when i started declaring myself a private contractor i couldn't wrap my head around the tax forms so i figured i'll pay h&r blockheads $550.(around) i'll pay less in taxes WRONG! i owed $3000. + 200something. the following year (last year) i tried to copy what they did but couldn't make it work. on the eve of d-day i sat in a wine bar and a woman sat next to me. i mentioned that i hadn't done my taxes and she said do you have the info with you? which i did. she did it the next day, charged me $40. i owed $1000. to the feds and got back $98. from the state.
i'm seeing my tax fairy tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm JtotheK:

speaking of disco, i have to go back to the archives to catch Duane Train this week - saw he spun a Risco Connection track. they have a few 12" singles, of note is their cover of 'Caught Up In A One Night Love Affair'
Avatar 11:55pm Little Danny:

@J2tK: I heard like 15 minutes of it but still need to do the proper 3 hours. And missed the Risco Connection track
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56pm Doug Schulkind:

Stoopid good tunes, Little D! Been lurking and listening.
Avatar 11:57pm coelacanth∅:

i may still have my first wfmu tshirt. i know i didn't throw it out, but that doesn't mean i still have it. i forget which one was my first, but most likely it was ugly even before getting ripped and stained. most of them were, back then.
  11:58pm still b/p:

Must... go... to...that.... bar! 12-20 different job categories for a wack pile of income sources and puzzles. I recall my days of one job and breezy 1040 EZ filing.
Avatar 11:58pm Little Danny:

I knew I saw you rustling around in the underbrush, Doug. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58pm JtotheK:

thanks for the tunes, Danny. cheers everyone.
  11:59pm still b/p:

Great session of listening, thanks LD!
Avatar 12:00am coelacanth∅:

yeah the ez form is great! one year i itemized to see how much better i'd do and then did the ez for the hell of it. the ez form got me a much better refund. i didn't have enough medical bills & charities to make it worth it.
Avatar 12:01am coelacanth∅:

stillb/p are you in the ny area by any chance?
Avatar 12:02am coelacanth∅:

(she'd probably do it, if you are)

...Thanks Danny! have a good night.
Avatar 12:02am Little Danny:

Thanks everybody! I love all of you! See ya around
