Also my friend says if I mow my lawn crackheads will break into my house less... I guess the theory is it will make my house seem more occupied/cared for... I feel like a goat in the front yard is still the best option tho cause it would eat my lawn and take a chunk out of the crackheads too

	12:29pm crateslinger: My pitbull is similar. Lazy, and not very tough, but I cannot have a goose or a goat, so what ya gonna so?
	12:31pm crateslinger: If I had a yard worthy of a lawn mower, I'd grow giant pumpkins.
	12:31pm βrian: We've converted about a third of our lawn into mulch/ground cover. Some of the remaining grass is handled by our cat, who eats it and then throws it up indoors.
	12:31pm Meghan: I know so many dopey pitbulls. Though, my old dog who was a chocolate lab was the sweetest dog and people would walk out of our way when we were walking down the street. I always laughed cause he was afraid of loud noises and overturned trash cans.... so yeah, not a good guard dog

	12:33pm northguineahills: the only gourds I have is summer squash. yeah, my friend's pitbull I used to dogsit for was aggressively friendly, so much so it would scare people. The worst that would happen is the stranger would drown in slobber. That said, it wasn't friendly to every other dog.
	12:34pm crateslinger: They really aren't good guard dogs. I mean they were originally bred to fight each other but if you asked those dogs back then, I suspect they'd tell you they were just playing (they can play pretty rough). Any dog can be raised mean.
	12:35pm own crabapplesatellite Johnzon: People are often afraid of my puppy too... I think a lot of people either don't know how to read dogs at all or they've used to interacting with dogs who've been abused or neglected
	12:36pm northguineahills: If I go record shopping w/ my wife in a larger record store/fair, she'll finish in 30 minutes, and then tells me, "I'm going to go to X, text me when you're done" (usually 3+ hours)

	1:10pm crateslinger: Seriously geese will squawk super loud and attack you. Birds are nasty dinosaurs. My 80 pound pitbull is afraid of the swans of sheepshead bay - they chase him. An Ostrich can crush your skull with one peck.
	1:10pm Ike: My cat Toasty is a good dog substitute. I don't have to take her for walks, but she'll sort of fetch. She carries around her favorite stuffed hedgehog in her mouth and drops it near me frequently.

	1:13pm crateslinger: You can see a pic of my very clever pitbull with his head in a cheerios box on my profile. He did that to himself going after yummies and was perfectly happy like that when I came home. You can see his tail is wagging in the photo.

	1:22pm βrian: I knew a farmer who, after being bitten on the ass, grabbed the goose by the neck and executed a revolving hammer throw, sending the goose on an extended, reflective trajectory. The goose was unharmed but kept its distance after that.

	1:40pm northguineahills: I once had jalapenos in Brooklyn that grew for 5 years (they're supposed to be annuals). Each year they'd taste better. Then when I went job hunting in FL, my wife forgot to water them. I was rather cross of the neglect of our children.

	1:44pm βrian: We're giving over a much larger part of the garden to peppers this year. The tomato blight has made growing tomatoes difficult.
	1:47pm Meghan: My dad grew the best tomatoes on a dock in Baltimore harbor one summer. They were amazing and then that was it. He just stopped.
	1:51pm Meghan: damn it! now I am craving an August tomato and we are not close to August!
	1:53pm βrian: We put up 115 quarts of tomatoes last year, and we'll be out within a week or two. Damn the electric fence!
	1:57pm northguineahills: I have basrawi mesopotamian tomatoes (good for the heat down here), black fuzzy wuzzy tomatoes, along w/ juliets and heirlooms. Then there's the tomatillos, poblano peppers, jalapenos, habaneros, ghost peppers, and Carolina Reaper peppers, sweet potatoes, garlic, cucumbers and a ton of herbs.

	1:10pm Ike: My cat Toasty is a good dog substitute. I don't have to take her for walks, but she'll sort of fetch. She carries around her favorite stuffed hedgehog in her mouth and drops it near me frequently.

	1:40pm northguineahills: I once had jalapenos in Brooklyn that grew for 5 years (they're supposed to be annuals). Each year they'd taste better. Then when I went job hunting in FL, my wife forgot to water them. I was rather cross of the neglect of our children.

	1:47pm Meghan: My dad grew the best tomatoes on a dock in Baltimore harbor one summer. They were amazing and then that was it. He just stopped.

	1:53pm βrian: We put up 115 quarts of tomatoes last year, and we'll be out within a week or two. Damn the electric fence!
	1:57pm northguineahills: I have basrawi mesopotamian tomatoes (good for the heat down here), black fuzzy wuzzy tomatoes, along w/ juliets and heirlooms. Then there's the tomatillos, poblano peppers, jalapenos, habaneros, ghost peppers, and Carolina Reaper peppers, sweet potatoes, garlic, cucumbers and a ton of herbs.
