Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm sphere:

I dearly love this Loop album.
  12:12pm Chucktown Dan:

wheeeeeee !!!!
  12:12pm Tom from Maplewood:

I just tuned in. I didn’t miss much, did I? This Loop was one of the first CDs I ever bought. When I finally heard the LP version I was like “wow, so THIS is what it’s supposed to sound like.!” I’m such as audio-weenie!!! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm I am the Upsetter:

Biggest regrets is not seeing LOOP in 1990. I might have been underage so there was that.

Belated thanks for the Wiseblood/Motorslug 12" last week. It was perfectly timed. Was in the middle of a day-long drive & in a fast twisty bit that suited the audio...

I LOVE King Crimson. Cool to hear about Fripp being Helios Creed's influence.

Herbie Rules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm mrdonutsu:

Loop is playing some dates in the UK this summer, FWiW. I saw them here in Portland in 2014 and at ATP Iceland in 2015. Way better shows than the first go around in Seattle in 1991 or so - where they got heckled mercilessly by the Sub Pop crew (Love Battery opened, if I recall correctly).
Avatar 1:17pm V Priceless:

didn't Fish smoke a joint with Sir Paul? I seem to recall this....
  1:17pm Dean:

Paul McCartney's guitarist for years started his career in an early punk/glam band from OC, Eulogy.
Avatar 1:19pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Who in their right mind would heckle Loop!?!? They are really great!
NEVER heard of Glass Onion, will go check it out!
  1:19pm Polyus:

Oh geez 98% of SubPop’s entire output couldn’t carry Loop’s guitar strings!
  1:20pm Polyus:

Maybe all 100%!
Certainly not Love Battery.
Avatar 1:21pm Cheri Pi:

My favorite of their newest stuff!
  1:22pm Dean:

Question for Steve or Helios: Were they aware of NON back in the day? An influence?
Avatar 1:22pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Mudhoney is pretty good, though. Arent't they on Sub Pop? Doesn't Mark Arm manage the warehouse there?
Avatar 1:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Finally out of mtg; spent the whole time eyeing the playlist and weeping silently...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Rich in Washington:

whenever a Neu song comes on our home jukebox system, my wife says she feels like doing exercises.
  1:28pm Listener Robert:

I'm so used to hearing this as -Ken's bed music, I forget it's a piece that can be just plain played.
  1:29pm Listener Robert:

But don't you dare play the zebra trucks, because then I'll think something's wrong at the xmtr. It's like WNBC-TV uses "The Lucky Texan".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Rich in Washington:

I'm an advocate of changing your bed music as often as you'd change your bedding.
Avatar 1:32pm Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm mrdonutsu:

My guess was that there was some "hiphop style" beef going down between the Sub Poppers and the UK scene at that time, probably mostly because the UK guys were so serious at the Seattle ethos was distinctly not. At least the Mudhoney side of the great Green River Schism. The Pearl Jam side however, totally different thing.
Avatar 1:36pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YASSSSS.... among very favorite HW tracks.
Avatar 1:37pm Chris from DC:

I concur. In spades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm mrdonutsu:

E.g., brief incarnation of the Pearl Jam side of post Green River was called "Lords of the Wasteland". What was to be Mudhoney immediately dubbed themselves "The Wasted Landlords".
Avatar 1:38pm Cheri Pi:

What they 'sssssed
Avatar 1:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...with patented Brock Psychedelic Toothbrush Slo-Wah solo...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm mrdonutsu:

And/or the Mudhoney version of Spacemen 3's Revolution. The "it takes just five seconds to put a morphine suppository all the way inside..." bit didn't sit so well with the kids from Rugby.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm blee:

Chrome, Hawkind, Neu, Black Mountain! Am I in heaven?
  1:46pm Polyus:

True, irreverence was a merit badge for a lot of rock bands then. Still, I thought A Gilded Eternity was so far above what most bands were doing with guitars at the time. Especially when so many people were just copping Blue Cheer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Rich in Washington:

I loved Black Mountain keyboardist Jeremy Schmidt's soundtrack for Beyond the Black Rainbow.
Avatar 1:55pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Never heard Neu! before, like it! Its Krautrock! I like Can and Kraftwerk also. Played a lot on WFMU I guess.
Thanks Steve F!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm chris:

White Hill is, according to Wikipedia: Psychedelic rock
Stoner rock
Space rock
Experimental rock
Me likey!
  1:57pm Polyus:

White Hills and Ufomammut in Chicago this past weekend was a whole lotta fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm mrdonutsu:

I'm so excited to finally see White Hills again. For the past few years, they've only done the European summer festival scene.
Avatar 1:59pm V Priceless:

@ Polyus: caught the Brooklyn show - whoa! Really great, but honestly, painfully load for the small space @ Vitus.
Avatar 1:59pm V Priceless:

make that 'loud'
Avatar 2:00pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@V Priceless-are we talking Nightingales (in NY NY) small or Wetlands small? or CBGB small?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm mrdonutsu:

Oh man, Mississippi Studios - where they'll be here in PDX is tiny.
Avatar 2:01pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoa, wetlands reference...
Avatar 2:02pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I just realized all the clubs I refer to are now closed. Sorry! I was in NYC in the early 90's....
Avatar 2:02pm V Priceless:

@ Wild: don't know about Nightingales, but much smaller than Wetlands or CB's
Avatar 2:02pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

We are older than dirt now, Chester!
Avatar 2:03pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Nightingales was RIDICULOUSLY small. It was like a living room, not a big one either!
Avatar 2:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

saw hawkwind there in.... 1990 (?) Fabulous time.
Avatar 2:03pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

hw = wetlands that is.
Avatar 2:04pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

@RTD-that sounds awesome!
Avatar 2:04pm V Priceless:

Sanhedrin / Witch Mountain @ Vitus, late July, gonna be a rockin' double bill
Avatar 2:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

most fabulously druggy venue-bathroom i've ever seen.
Avatar 2:05pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Wetlands was in a class by itself.
Avatar 2:05pm V Priceless:

saw Ubu and Stranglers @ Wetlands
  2:06pm Polyus:

I have to admit I was a little underwhelmed by WH compared to the last time I saw them as a trio - they are tethered to loops/samples since Ego moved to drums and the set never really cut loose. Still, the songs are good. Some of it made me think of Gnod, which makes sense given how much they collaborate.
Avatar 2:06pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

Smoked a lot of pot at Wetlands. Downstairs.
Avatar 2:07pm V Priceless:

after the Ubu gig, DT immediately walked down off the front of the stage and started selling t-shirts! LOL
Avatar 2:11pm Wild Neil||Peace All:

I saw Blues Traveller at Nightingales. I could sit at the bar and reach over and grab the end of a guitar if I wanted to. It was THAT small. It was like 12 feet x 20 foot room. CRAZY small.
Avatar 2:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

HAH! a quick google to double-check the date of that Hawkwind gig reveals a couple of shots that ended up on Getty. Weird. www.gettyimages.fi...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm chris:

will miss you this summer, Diane. i hope you have a wonderful time and hope to hear you again soon on the only station that matters! <3
Avatar 2:20pm V Priceless:

BTW, I hope everyone digging the Kamikaze Fun Machine has written their congress person to express their disdain in the show going on 'hiatus' for the summer schedule; if my fading memory serves me correctly, this will be the 2nd time in 3 years! Boo hiss! Carry on.....
Avatar 2:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

What VP said. I have already burned myself to death in the street, as a form of protest. Avenge me, Zorro...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Will the podcasts continue though the summer? (Sorry ... was away during the mic break.)
Avatar 2:22pm Chris from DC:

Yeah, the show really helps me get through the week. Come back soon.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Rich in Washington:

why have I never noticed the wailing sax in the Zorro loop before?
(possibly because I had my volume absolutely CRANKED during the Zero Boys song).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Thanks, VP. September will be here again quickly enough and the Fun Machine will crank up once more, Dio and Lemmy willing.
  2:39pm Dean:

I came to appreciate Chrome as a band in the Cabaret Voltaire mold, and I was introduced to CV via punk.
