David D:

Glad the soundtrack works, sorry your chicken is such a jerk.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
kuba:

hey dave, i might've missed some announcement... but the heathers in the title are surely a reference to the month of september ("wrzesień" in polish = "the heather month")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
David D:

Kuba, you win a prize.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
kuba:

what did i win! (i feel like i was set up... are there any other languages besides polish that do this? i had to look up heathers, again, though...)

Jeff Moore:

I came back to say that I have a weakness for late-Thirties big-band swing, but I guess I have to expand that to include the early Forties!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
David D:

Kuba: True, I suppose I inadvertently set you up. How about something from the Radio Blau fridge?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
David D:

Jeff: Then one more from that era...

I arrived at the bee gees, missed the Hearty part.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:39pm
northguineahills:

thanks kuba, it ended being a very stupid idea (as I'm want to do), but, I made it to work today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm
David D:

Welcome Melinda - and Rich upthread. The Hearty White sacred harp intro is mixed into the track we heard, blending into Amazing Grace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
David D:

NGH: Take care of yourself (and not necessarily your spider).
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
kuba:

i used to just drink right through antibiotics, talking about stupid
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
fred:

I once went to a Zorn marathon: three shows with three projects in each. The first show was in an auditorium and focused on his more contemporary classical side, the second more acoustic jazz (seated on bleachers), the last was electric/electronic, a rock concert setting with bars serving beer inside the venue
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
northguineahills:

I'll still have a point or two, but I needed weekend drinking. I'm ill enough I need to watch it.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
kuba:

yeah, i have a stomach ~thing~ now that comes and goes in waves... and might be triggered by beer? or maybe it just worsens hangovers sometimes. chicken egg cocktail...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Sem:

Glad we've had this time together, David and all. Thank you for the music and talk. Bye for now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm
David D:

Thanks, Sem, have a good evening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm
David D:

Fred: That sounds like an adventure! How long did it go?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:01pm
northguineahills:

This album was my introduction to Morricone....
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:03pm
Webhamster Henry:

I used to have this record - gone in the Great Purge of 2010.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:04pm
Webhamster Henry:

I have some nice airchecks of Zorn as a guest on Spinning On Air - playing stuff he likes!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:04pm
kuba:

as a beats-producing teen i sampled him to make "Morricone Sportskanone" (bit ashamed that i still find this funny)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:05pm
northguineahills:

nice, kuba!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
David D:

Kuba: It still is funny.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
kuba:

thanks you guys
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm
David D:

Henry: Sounds intriguing...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:07pm
kuba:

henry: Today I Learned about airchecks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm
fred:

@David: Total playing must have been something like 7 hours, with one hour breaks between shows. It was early September 2013, in honor of his turning 60. The Dreamers were the first set of the second show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm
fred:

Yes, in Paris
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
doctorjazz:

I remember the 60th birthday celebrations .. Didn't get to any but I've seen him a bunch of times.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:15pm
northguineahills:

Considering I lived at Tonic (4-5 times a week) (2000-2007, I got in free, and drank for free), I saw lots of Zorn.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
doctorjazz:

Still think the Masada quartet with Dave Douglas was one of the best live bands I've seen ..
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:19pm
doctorjazz:

And here they come ..
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:20pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
David D:

Then take care in any case...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
fred:

I think my favorite set that day was Electric Masada (because Ikue Mori!), but I really liked everything except Mike Patton
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
doctorjazz:

Liked Electric Masada when I saw them, but the acoustic quartet was ELECTRIC to my ears whenever I saw them, much preferred them. But, that's me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Rich in Washington:

Electric Masada is amazing! I love their Live at the Mountains of Madness album. It's insane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm
Rich in Washington:

I also really like all the Moonchild Trio stuff, but like you Fred, I am somewhat cold on the Patton stuff for some reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
fred:

The projects in these shows:
First show: Illuminations, The Holy Visions, The Alchemist.
Second: The Concealed, Acoustic Masada, The Dreamers
Third: The Song Project, Moonchild, Electric Masada
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:36pm
northguineahills:

Don't worry Dr. Jazz, I'm sick late at the office, so that comment could be for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
David D:

Fred: That sounds overwhelmingly fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm
David D:

NGH: It is for you (as the) as well.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
northguineahills:

They had Zorn's 60th bday celebrations at the Stone as well (and I believe the 50th was at Tonic)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm

This is a Zorn cover, by the way.
