Parq:

This Aretha reading of Gershwin is a knockout.

northguineahills:

I constantly have dreams of subways that transverse rural areas from city to city.

David, Kurt played your outro, "Taking the A Train earlier".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm
David D:

Hey Parq and NGH...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm
David D:

Someday we'll get those subways.

Snortley:

The A and S trains go through a nature preserve on the way to and from the Rockaways:

Thanks, Snortley!

Yep, taken the train and biked through Gateway Nature Preserve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm
David D:

Looks like a beautiful area, and only a subway ride away...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm
Parq:

Never been to the Gateway preserve, but have friends who like to birdwatch there. It's on my "really oughta some day" list.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm
Parq:

"London-town"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm
David D:

Mais oui!

I've been watching a 14th c drama based in Barca, and damn, Catalunyan is nearly impossible to understand, Portuguese is easier for me to understand (and I can listen to most Latin American movie/series en espanol w/ no problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
David D:

Well there you go...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm
David D:

Please let me know if you hear anything different in the sound - since it sounds different to me.
Avatar 4:49pm
northguineahills:

I can tell your mic is different, the level of this Gerswin is a little low...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm
David D:

Thanks, NGH, I'll be switching to a different mic, let's see what happens...
Avatar 4:54pm
northguineahills:

the mic was fine, I can just tell it's not your usual one.

Dean:

Last night in a tribute to The Residents, Jesse Jarnow inadvertently also recognized Gershwin's anniversary during his show. He played The Residents' take on Rhapsody in Blue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm
Stanley:

Hi David. I made it.
BTW your voice sounds extra 'rich' on the new mic.
Avatar 5:01pm
northguineahills:

Oh, I was there for that, Dean, I knew there was something else I was supposed to mention to David woofmoo related....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
David D:

Thanks, Dean, so I guess I'll leave that one to his archives...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm
David D:

And thanks Stanley, I'm testing out all the mics in the studio I rarely use here at Radio Blau. I liked this last one better myself.

Brian in UK:

Hello David.
.......is this thing on!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm
David D:

Hi Brian, I sure hope so!
  5:14pm
Dean:

Just occurs to me that The Residents' take might have been of Sun Ra's take on Rhapsody in Blue...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm
David D:

Theirs is oddly spacier, I'd say.
  5:20pm
Dean:

Indeed. For me their ouevre's apex of spaciness is their take on Hank Williams' "Kawliga." That one's just weird.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 5:29pm
Brian in UK:

Prime Coltrane period for me.

Brian: Yes, he really hits it here.
Avatar 5:44pm

My prime Coltrane period is his last three years, or, after he met Alice.
