I have a bad Pogues non-story: while in college, I once skipped a class to go to my fave pub, and they were out of Guinness. As if that wasn't bad enough, the owner explained The Pogues had been there the evening before and drank it all while singing and playing

Wait, you can get off work at 4:30? I just got back from lunch 30 minutes ago. (I guess I'd have to get to work earlier, at least I only have 12-15 minute commute).

I must confess my schedule is really nice: I get to work somewhere between 11am and noon, leave between 7 and 9 depending on whether I'm going to a show and when it starts, and if so get home at 1 or 2am

Hey Parq and Hilmar - sounds like we have every possible schedule represented.
Avatar 🚂 4:52pm

It's cost-prohibitive to drive to work here, but by bike or by bus it's 20-25 minutes. Not too bad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
fred:

@ngh: My morning schedule is pretty close to yours, except my commute take about an hour (unreliable buses every twenty minutes, it's a crapshoot)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm

Billy Murray : not often heard without MAC's show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm
Webhamster Henry:

I recently cut my commute in half by bringing my laptop into the bedroom.
Avatar 🚂 4:58pm
βrian:

Do you commute in your underwear?
Avatar 4:59pm
northguineahills:

Oh god, my wife loves Billy Murray. When I met her 11 years ago, the made me a playlist full of Bill Murray tracks.

I could ride my bike to work, but it would be about 45 minutes each way, and the last 2 km are on a major highway (w/ an non-separated designated bike lane), then there's the fact that it rains every day for 9 months of the year, and the nearest restaurant is 5km away for lunch.
Avatar 🚂 5:05pm
βrian:

Thanks, David. Time to get on the City Bus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm

While I definitely associate Billy Murray with MAC, it was Irwin who first introduced me to his work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm
David D:

Thanks, βrian - have a good ride!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm
David D:

I commute about 3 feet to my computer. Sometimes I take my bike for a long ride first, though, which can help me get to work in fact.
Avatar 5:10pm
northguineahills:

Over here, the buses are only frequent around the downtown area (near where I live) and the university campuses. Otherwise, it's one per 30-45 mins per route. However, the busses have bike racks on the front, which is nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm
Webhamster Henry:

The busses here are kind of rare and don't really go places that need going to.
I bike, usually. I'm in the bustling metropolis of Kingston NY, one of the little Brooklyns of the North.

Statman would either be playing mandolin or clarinet. You can hear him in some of the cuts on Irene's yearly "Shulcoth" Kafka tribute shows, meticulously archived by Ed Haber.
