A few minutes ago the water in the electric kettle started coming on the boil – a textured not-exactly-white noise which ramped up quickly but not instantaneously – and I thought it was another layer you were adding.

Then I realized it was coming from a completely different direction than where the speakers were. Neat trick, Olivia!

There used to be a yearly convention outside of Boston called Mass Monster Mash-- every year they'd have a series of lectures by assorted ghosthunters, cryptozoologists, etc. It was really wonderful-- I wish they still had it.
