I'm distracted today; October is... not good for me.

October 6, 2008, I had an hemorrhagic stroke, at 44. Ten years ago today, I got suddenly old. Can’t believe it, really, the ten years part, but I’ve counted on my fingers & toes, and it works out. Permanent (sometimes it goes away, but after ten years, it's very, very rare) hemiplegia: paralysis on the right side, bobbing head to wiggly toes.

At least I didn't have a Midlife Crisis. Skipped that!

my introduction to Thirlwell was buying unfamiliar cds from a $3. bin c.1998. my purchases that day, just by chance, seemed to have a loose theme... foetus:gash (JG Thirlwell); muzza chunga:fishy pants; shat:are you choking?; porn (the men of);experiments in feedback.
sometimes things just work out.

I had a few not-good interactions with Thirlwell, because I had a friend who was an amateur reviewer/critic who loved a band led by Thirlwell's girlfriend (Halcion), and my friend talked with her, and his girlfriend was fine with that, but Thirlwell was definitely not happy, and Thirlwell's dissatisfaction towards my friend spread to my friend's friends, i.e., me.

He was very very jealous, to the point where he did not want male critics to talk with his girlfriend about her band.
Avatar 2:55pm
Scraps:

It's affected my liking for his music, which was fine when it was Foetus -- didn't like it even before -- but he does the Venture Brothers music, and that's .... pretty good, he said grudgingly
